Dragon Gate wrapped up the KING OF GATE 2023 Tournament today with the Wemifinals and Finals.
Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on DRAGONGATE NETWORK.
The announced paid attendance was 1258, a full house/near sellout.
Match 1: KING OF GATE Semifinals: BIGBOSS Shimizu beat Madoka Kikuta. This virtually guarantees the eventual winner gets an Open The Dream Gate Championship match as a reward now that Kikuta, the current champion, will not win.
Match 2: KING OF GATE Semifinals: Kota Minoura beat H-Y-O.
Match 3: Susumu Mochizuki, Yasushi Kanda & Mochizuki Jr. vs. Shun Skywalker, KAI & ISHIN went to a double countout.
Match 4: Naruki Doi, Ben-K, BxB Hulk & Minorita beat Dragon Kid, Punch Tominaga, Yoshiki Kato & Daiki Yanagiuchi. Ben-K pinned Yanagiuchi after a powerbomb.
Match 5: Masaaki Mochizuki & Don Fujii beat Shuji Kondo & Takashi Yoshida. Fujii beat Yoshida with Gedo Clutch.
Match 6: YAMATO, Kagetora, Eita, Yuki Yoshioka & Dragon Doa beat Kzy, Strong Machine J, U-T, Jason Lee & JACKY “FUNKY” KAMEI. YAMATO pinned KAMEI after Galleria.
Main Event: KING OF GATE Finals: Kota Minoura beat BIGBOSS Shimizu to win the tournament.
Next up is The Gate Of Adventure 2023 Tour beginning tomorrow at Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama. There will be no live or on demand broadcast. There are no broadcasts scheduled until 8/13 with half of the remaining tour events, including DANGEROUS GATE 2023 on 8/20 at Ota City General Gym, available on DRAGONGATE NETWORK.
UPDATE: It’s now official-for winning KING OF GATE Minoura will face Kikuta for the Open The Dream Gate Championship. That match will happen on 8/20.
