Lots of news/fallout from the event:
Apparently there was a communication error at the venue that led to a pre-match video package not being played before the Ohka-Takagi match. The video was produced by former DDT wrestler/employee Yumehito Imanari and delivered ahead of time, but it didn’t get to the person in charge of video output due to miscommunication by in-house personnel. This was not Imanari’s fault. DDT has apologized to all and will release the entire match with the video included for free on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in the near future.
Next up for MAO: Billie Starkz in a No Rules match. That match will happen on 4/4 in Philadelphia, PA as part of The Collective. That event will stream live only on TrillerTV fka FITE as part of their Triller+ subscription service ($7.99/month or $79.99/year). It will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date.
Next up for Katsumata: Hi69 (HIROKI) from Pro Wrestling NOAH in a Hardcore Match. That match will happen on 4/7.
Next up for Ueno: His next choice for challenger is Akito. That match will happen on 4/26 at Sumida City Gym in Tokyo.
Also set for 4/26: Akiyama/Dieno/Oishi vs. Sasaki/KANON/Paul for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championship and Keigo Nakamura returns from injury.
The first match is set for WRESTLE PETER PAN, DDT’s annual biggest event of the year, on 7/21 at Ryogoku Kokugikan: Whoever is the KO-D Openweight Champion at the time vs. TBA for the title. El Desperado (New Japan) participation has also been announced as well as Konosuke Takeshita participation.
The promotion has announced a special Japan Disabled Wrestling Federation event for 7/7 at Odawa Arena Sub Arena in Kanagawa which will be a charity fundraiser event. Announced participation so far includes Aja Kong, Yoshiaki Yatsu, Kuroshio TOKYO Japan and Naohiro Hoshikawa, who was injured in a 2004 match and is undergoing rehabilitation. Persons with disabilities will be able to attend this event for free.
Finally, the entire field for this year’s KING OF DDT Tournament was announced: Poison Sawada JULIE, Sanshiro Takagi, Danshoku Dieno, HARASHIMA, Shuji Ishikawa, Tetsuya Endo, Daisuke Sasaki, Kazusada Higuchi, Chris Brookes, Yuki Ueno, MAO, Yuki Iino, Yukio Naya, KANON, Daisuke Sasaki, Takeshi Masada, TBA (the D GENERATIONS CUP 202r winner, which gets underway at the next event). This is a single-elimination tournament, no time limit for all matches. Round 1 will be 5/5 at Korakuen, the Quarterfinals will be 5/11 at Yokohama Radiant Hall, after which a drawing will be held to determine the Semifinals pairings. The Semifinals & Finals will be 5/26 at Korakuen.

BREAKING: AEW Star Won’t Die On Everest. Yet…

As most AEW fans know, the plan was for Darby Allin to have his potentially last AEW match this past Wednesday then climb Mt. Everest at the end of the month. That only will half happen. He had his potentially last AEW match but the Everest climb is off for this year because of what happened in said match…he got legit injured. Broken foot. So no Everest until 2025 and no AEW for at least a few months. But Darby Gonna Darby and he’s claiming he’ll do a skateboard trick off his cast as a fundraiser for charity.

Injury Report: Can’t Be A Skywalker Like This

Another injury…this time in Dragon Gate as they report Shun Skywalker is grounded for now. Knee. Out indefinitely and off tomorrow’s event in Okayama as a result. He was to have faced Shachihoko BOY. ISHIN is the replacement. If he misses any further time it could jeopardize their Rey De Parejas spot.

More as it becomes available.

Tokyo Joshi Pro 3/16/24 Results

Tokyo Joshi Pro continues their spring house show tour today with an event in Yokohama. While there is one more event after this before GRAND PRINCESS ’24, this essentially will be the final build for the biggest event of the year as the next event is a separate standalone crossover with Ganbare Women. So today is the last time Moyu Yamashita & Miu Watanabe will be on opposite teams before their 3/31 main event, same for Yuki Aino and Suzume & Arisu Endo (no Ryo Mizunami today. Also no Yuki Arai). It also begins the road to the end of Nao Kakuta’s career as she announced earlier this week she will retire in July to focus on other activities.

There were unannounced last-minute changes for today’s event due to no Hyper Misao. Acute back pain. Status uncertain for 3/31.

Today’s event will be held at Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. This looks like a standard quick-paced house show and should have a total running time of just under 2 hours, even with the presumptive main event likely to go the full 20 minutes, but roughly 2 hours tops.

Today’s lineup:
Rika Tatsumi vs. Mahiro Kiryu & Uta Takami in a 3-way
Kaya Toribami vs. Kira Summer
Maki Itoh & Shino Suzuki vs. Moka Miyamoto & Chika Nanase
Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku vs. Suzume, Arisu Endo & HIMAWARI
Wakana Uehara & Toga vs. Haru Kazashiro & Runa Okubo

7:58 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now…

We are LIVE from Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama, Japan. There is no commentary.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Looks like a good crowd so far as the closest seats to the ring are all sold out and sounds good too. So closer to 75% capacity)

The matches should begin in 10-15 minutes. Hard camera only view with the position such that the ropes slightly obstruct view. They had very few announcements and quickly went to Up Up Girls so we’ll be starting matches by 8:10 PM PT.
