GLEAT ran their latest G PROWRESTLING event today, returning to Osaka for today’s event headlined by a G-REX Championship match.

Today’s event was held at Umeda Stellar Hall in Osaka and will be available on demand on YouTube at a later date (probably Tuesday or Wednesday). There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 241.

Pro Wrestling NOAH 11/12/23 Results

Pro Wrestling NOAH continued the SUNNY VOYAGE 2023 Tour today with a house show in Kyoto.

Today’s event was held at Kyoto KBS Hall in Kyoto and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date (probably Wednesday). There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 334.

Match 1: Atsushi Kotoge, Hajime Ohara & Taishi Ozawa beat Super Crazy, Hi69 & Yu Owada. Ohara pinned Owada after a backbreaker.

Match 2: Saxon Huxley & Shuhei Taniguchi beat Alejandro & Extreme Tiger. Taniguchi pinned Tiger after Wyvern Catch.

Match 3: LEONA (Dradition) beat Kai Fujimura by submission.

Match 4: Takashi Sugiura & Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. beat Go Shiozaki & Stallion Rogers. Sugiura pinned Rogers after Olympic Yosen Slam.

DDT Pro Wrestling “ULTIMATE PARTY 2023” Results (11/12/23) (Updated)

DDT runs what may be their last super blowout event of the year today, ULTIMATE PARTY 2023, and it will be just that with 12 matches planned, several major title matches including a main event of KO-D Openweight Champion Chris Brookes vs. Yuki Ueno for the title, New Japan’s Hiromu Takahashi returning to face Kazuki Hirata-if Takahashi makes it there from New Japan’s event in Aichi today as DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion-which is still an if-it’ll be for the title in an epic comedy match-and also a farewell as we say goodbye to Saki Akai, who is retiring after her final match today. She celebrated her 10th anniversary in wrestling earlier this year and although she is still very healthy and only 35, she made the decision to walk away while she was still in excellent physical condition and not stay until she was a “wilting flower”and potentially injured & unable to compete at her best. She’s set herself up to do very well post-wrestling with a beauty salon/spa, a line of skin care products for women & men, her own autobiography (and recently doing the obligatory photobooks and sexy photoshoots for the Japanese idol magazines) and today wraps up her retirement tour that also took her through Tokyo Joshi Pro and Ganbare Pro as well as All-Japan Pro Wrestling, and she leaves as a champion as Akai, Yukio Sakatuchi & Hideki Okatani are the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions but they will vacate the titles after today. DDT has done a masterful job of putting Akai over as the theme of her final match today: Strong, Noble, Beautiful. All perfectly describe Saki and then some. She will be dearly missed.
It’s also been announced that a PPV featuring backstage footage of Akai from today’s event and more will be available on WRESTLE UNIVERSE later this month. It will premiere on 11/28 (scheduled for 3 AM PT/6 AM ET) and will feature behind the scenes footage from today and more exclusive benefits: You’ll also receive digital photos of the event, a digital photograph signed by Akai, the opportunity to write a special message to Akai (they will be delivered to her personally at a later date), and a chance to win goods with handwritten autographs (no word on if that is limited only to fans in Japan). The PPV can be pre-purchased now on WRESTLE UNIVERSE for 4000 yen (currently around $27 US) and you will be able to watch the program until January 30, 2024. You can buy it until December 4 at 2 AM PT/5 AM ET.

Today’s event will be held at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese and English. The Japanese commentary will include 2 special guests-voice actor Toru Inada and SKE48 member (and semi-regular UNIVERSE special guest) Marika Tani. The English commentary team will be Hiroshi Arai, Christelle Ciari & Ash Mann. You can also watch the first 2 matches in Japanese FOR FREE on YouTube. There is no pre-show but given the ULTIMATE PARTY theme, this is going to be a long marathon party of an event. Plan on an all-night party depending on where you are as I expect the event’s running time to be at least 4 hours, maybe pushing 5 hours.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. It’s hard to predict here based on advance ticket sales and because they don’t use full capacity for the venue (the lower level box seats/mass seats that hold 4-6 people for sumo are only used for up to 2 people here) so I can only hope they do a good number, which for an event like this I feel will be at least 4000. The venue’s full capacity for sumo and-when used as such-wrestling is 15,000. Based on how empty the upper level looked at the start, I think a more realistic estimate right now is around 2500. The All-Japan event right before this probably isn’t helping. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 4785, a full house/near sellout. A great number for mostly using only the lower level and just the front 2-3 rows of the second level)

They changed the rules backstage before the match, so I didn’t understand it but this of course was a ridiculous comedy match. (Update: The rule was the first to be made to kneel & apologize, which was Takagi, lost)

Result: Kuroshio TOKYO Japan beat Takeshi Masada. Mostly a comedy match. Kuroshio’s entrance lasted almost as long as the match as he kept running into the crowd in the lower level and posing for photos along with other antics. He barely has come back to Japan since leaving WWE and is already insane over.

A video reveals the blocks for the upcoming D KING GP (participants were previously announced before). After this, Yuki Iino appears in the ring. With microphone. This is his first appearance since Pheromones had to disband last month. He’s in the tournament. The tournament starts on 11/26 and ends on 1/3/24. They announce the 11/26 matches, which will have 5 tournament matches, 2 from Block A and 3 from Block B.

Result: Miyu Yamashita, Naomichi Marufuji & Kazusada Higuchi beat Saki Akai, Yukio Sakaguchi & Hideki Okatani. Yamashita pinned Akai after Skull Kick. Before the end, everyone else cleared out of the ring to let Yamashita & Akai have the final moments alone.

A graphic noted she competed in 662 matches in her career, winning 414, losing 239, 9 other matches were draws or no contests. She won 6 championships in her career. Recorded congratulatory messages from New Japan’s Hiroshi Tanahashi and Togi Makabe were also played. Okatani & Sakaguchi then returned to join Akai in the ring and present her with the customary flower bouquets and pose one last time as Eruption for the ringside photographers. The next guest was hardcore icon and Game Changer Wrestling star Rina Yamashita along with Takumi Iroha, who debuted 10 years ago when Stardom’s Yuzuki Aikawa, a former idol/pinup model-turned-wrestler, retired at Ryogoku. Next up was Sanshiro Takagi, former owner and current President of DDT. After the flowers, Takagi with microphone to deliver thanks and words of encouragement as well as share some memories from her 10 years in DDT. He also offered Akai a behind-the-scenes position with DDT effective immediately. Audio muted after this…when unmuted a few seconds later, commentary noted it was a message from WWE superstar Shinsuke Nakamura. Akai then read from prepared comments. Then…the final 10 bell salute. And the final introduction announcement…Strong, Noble, Beautiful…SAKI AKAI! As Murata said before she walked off…Arigato, Akai Saki! And thanks to Takagi this hopefully isn’t goodbye and she will remain part DDT backstage going forward.

Kazuki Hirata beat DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship to win the title. Hirata becomes the 1591st Champion. Takahashi tried to win it back but the referee didn’t get in position to make the count in time. As Takahashi left, Danshoku Dieno came out and kissed him the rest of the way to the back. Classic DDT.

Match 10: DDT Universal Champion Matt Cardona vs. MAO in a No DQ match for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: MAO beat DDT Universal Champion Matt Cardona to win the title. MAO becomes the 12th DDT Universal Champion. At one point after a ref bump Yoshihiko was brought in as a second referee.

Match 11 (Main Event 1): Chris Jericho vs. Konosuke Takeshita. 30 minute time limit. A little bit of Judas Sing-Along in English from the crowd for Jericho! Intros for both were in English only.
Result: Chris Jericho beat Konosuke Takeshita by submission. Crowd very much American-like in terms of noise & chants/shouts. Incredibly unusual for Japanese fans. Afterwards, Jericho offered a handshake to Takeshita. Accepted. After Jericho left, Takeshita with microphone. He said something quick in Japanese before leaving.

Main Event (2): KO-D Openweight Champion Chris Brookes vs. Yuki Ueno for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: Yuki Ueno beat KO-D Openweight Champion Chris Brookes to win the title. Ueno becomes the 82nd KO-D Openweight Champion. This went almost 30 minutes, but if you looked at Brookes’ face during his entrance, that sent one clear message-he was losing. But a rematch could happen early next year if he wins the D KING GP. It also means Ueno can probably look forward to at least 2 months as champion before his first defense.

The whole event went an all-night party length of 5 1/2 hours.

The next event is Thursday at Shinjuku Face with a one-day tournament to crown new KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Champions and DDT Extreme Champion Kazuki Hirata vs. MIKAMI for the title. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 2 AM PT/5 AM ET.

UPDATE: After the event, in the dressing room backstage Ueno presented flowers to Akai for her retirement, Takeshita hugged Ueno in a surprise moment between the former The37Kamiina stablemates, (more given Takeshita is now a heel), and attempts were made to win the Iron Man Title from Hirata but were unsuccessful.

All-Japan Pro Wrestling 11/12/23 Results

All-Japan kicks off the 2023 Real World Tag League today, their annual year-ending Heavyweight tag team tournament (the second such tournament they run each year). But there is also another Jr. Battle Of Glory tournament for the Jr. Heavyweights. All but one match today will be for one of the tournaments, with the most noteworthy match maybe being the semifinal as NEW All-Japan Triple Crown Champion Katsuhiko Nakajima (still not technically signed with the promotion) teams with Hokuto Omori for the tournament. They open against Suwama & Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Hideki Suzuki as the path to a final day showdown against Kento Miyahara & Yuma Aoyagi, the next Triple Crown challenger and the man Nakajima won it from, respectively, begins. Also of note, Kuroshio TOKYO Japan-the former Ikemen Jiro in WWE and Jiro Kuroshio-returns to action in a Real World Tag League match before heading to the DDT event immediately afterwards.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on AJPW.TV in Japanese. All the Jr. Battle Of Glory matches have just 10 minute time limits while the tag league matches are 30 minutes tops, so that should keep the event’s running time down to 2-2 1/4 hours and hopefully in time to get to/switch over to the DDT event today.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Full capacity setup and while not a sellout it looks like a good crowd so far, at least 1000 so I’ll guess it’s gonna be around 1100 (after seeing crowd shots in the first match it looks like a super full house so perhaps at least 1200-1250). (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 1320)

Result: Atsuki Aoyagi beat Naruki Doi. Doi went heel with a sneak attack at the start during Aoyagi’s entrance but in the end it backfired as Aoyagi got a flash 3 count by countering a Bakatare Sliding Kick. Very short match.

Match 2: Real World Tag League: Kuroshio TOKYO Japan & Seigo Tachibana vs. Jun & Rei Saito. 30 minute time limit
Result; Jun & Rei Saito beat Kuroshio TOKYO Japan & Seigo Tachibana. Jun Saito pinned Tachibana after simultaneous chokelams by the Saito Bros on Kuroshio & Tachibana. All but Tachinaba are now headed to the DDT event in a couple hours.

TJPW News: Upcoming Title Match Confirmed

Tokyo Joshi Pro reports that, in a scheduled title match held in London, England yesterday. International Princess Champion Max The Impaler beat KASEY to retain the title. V1 for Impaler. As a result, the planned 11/19/23 title match vs. Shoko Nakajima is now official. There will be no live broadcast of the event.

Pro Wrestling NOAH 11/11/23 Results

Pro Wrestling NOAH continued the SUNNY VOYAGE 2023 Tour today with an event in Osaka.

Today’s event was held at Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date (should be Tuesday). There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 405.

New Japan 11/11/23 Results

New Japan ran a standalone event called Anjo Rainy Days today, the second straight year they have run a hometown event for Kazuchika Okada.

Today’s event was held at Tochi Arena Anjo in Aichi. There is/was no live or on demand broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 2247, a legit sellout.

All matches were announced at the start of the event, nothing was announced in advance.

Match 1: Boltin Oleg & Ryusuke Taguchi beat TAKA Michinoku & DOUKI. Taguchi pinned TAKA.

Match 2: Jado & Master Wato beat Gedo & Taiji Ishimori. Wato beat Gedo with Vendeval.

Match 3: Minoru Suzuki & Yuji Nagata beat Oskar Leube & Yuto Nakashima. Nagata pinned Nakashima with a backdrop hold.

Match 4: Ren Narita & Shota Umino beat Tomoaki Honma & Togi Makabe. Narita beat Honma with a cobra twist. Afterwards, Narita challenged for the NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Championship on 11/17. Honma, Narita & Taguchi are scheduled to face current champions Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kazuchika Okada in a NON-TITLE match on that date. But New Japan’s English preview of the event hints at the potential for a title rematch before the year ends if they win.

Match 5: Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Sho, Yujiro Takahashi & EVIL beat Callum Newman, HENARE, Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb. Sho pinned Newman after Shock Arrow.

Match 6: Yoh, YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto beat BUSHI, HIromu Takahashi & Yota Tsuji. Goto pinned BUSHI after Shoto. Afterwards, several wrestlers attempted to win the DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Championship from Takahashi. Will he make it to tonight’s DDT event as champion?

Main Event: NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Champions Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kazuchika Okada beat Yuya Uemura, Taichi & SANADA to retain the titles. Okada pinned Uemura after Rainmaker. V5 for the champs. They went just over 30 minutes. Post-match, Okada promo where he vowed to return next year as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion to close the event and send the hometown crowd home happy.

Next up is the New Japan Road Tour, which is just 2 events this year. The first event is Friday at Yamagata Big Wing in Yamagata headlined by Sho vs. Taichi for the KOPW 2023 Title. We still don’t know what their proposed rules are going to be. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at 1:30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET.

AEW Rampage 11/10/23 Results

Result: FTR beat El Hijo De Vikingo & Komander. Cash Wheeler pinned Komander after Big Rig. House Of Black promo followed the match to wrap it up. During the match, Vikingo hit his head at an awkward-looking angle on the announce table after a suicide dive and looked a tad unsteady in a couple spots.

New Japan Pro Wrestling “Lonestar Shootout” Results (11/10/23)

New Japan is back in the US today for their next STRONG LIVE event, Lonestar Shootout. Following up on last month’s Fighting Spirit Unleashed, it’s another loaded event with 5 title matches among a 12-match lineup. First up, the STRONG Tag Team Championship is on the line as Hikuleo & El Phantasmo defend the titles against West Coast Wrecking Crew (Jorel Nelson & Royce Isaacs), who want to bring the titles back stateside away from the Japan mainstays. Second, STRONG Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston will defend the title against the legendary Satoshi Kojima, who has already firmly established the Bread Club in Texas. The third title match is a highly-anticipated show stealer candidate as NJPW WORLD TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. goes for his 16th (!) successful defense against Mike Bailey, who basically continues to do nothing but have MOTY candidate matches all the time. In the 4th title match, IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani travels to the US from Stardom to defend against CMLL standout Stephanie Vaquer, who earned her chance at the title with a victory in Las Vegas. Finally in the main event, NEW NEVER Openweight Champion Shingo Takagi will defend the title against AEW’s Trent Beretta.

Today’s event will be held at Curtis Culwell Center in Garland Park, TX (Dallas/Ft. Worth area) and can be watched LIVE on New Japan World in Japanese. It was originally planned to be a PPV on the service but following yesterday’s (bumpy of course) major update/relaunch of the New Japan World service it was decided to make is available for all with no additional purchase required. Those who purchased the PPV before on the service will get refunds (I never saw/had that option). With the pricing changes at the relaunch yesterday a new subscription will now cost $9.99/month if you go through their website, or as much as $12.99/month going through app stores. It will also be available LIVE on FITE in English only for $19.99. There will also be a FREE 30 minute pre-show before the event on FITE, which also is part of the New Japan World broadcast, and it also will be available on the New Japan World YouTube channel. The pre-show is headlined by another rivalry match between Fred Rosser & Tom Lawlor. Only 2 of the matches have longer than 30 minute time limits, but based on last month as well as the pre-show I anticipate this event having a total running time of around 4 hours.

In English, as he did when he won the title last time, he demanded a next challenger appear. At the end the lights went out, so it appears we have our answer: G.o.D…specifically, Tama Tonga. With microphone. REMATCH! (Takagi beat Tonga last month in Las Vegas to win the title) Takagi said “OF COURSE! At Tokyo Dome!” We’ll see if New Japan makes this official. Afterwards, Takagi produced a cowboy hat and wore it in the ring while posing for photos and waving to the crowd to end the show.

Including the pre-show and post-main event stuff, the event ran about 4 1/4 hours total. As far as the initial new NJPW WORLD experience, I give it a 9.9 out of 10. No issues with the stream once it began, quality was a little better than before (the ringside video camera quality was noticeably improved), the only thing I would like is improved DVR functionality-specifically being able to press left/right on my Apple TV remote to rewind/fast forward 10 or 15 seconds at a time. Right now it’s going way too far either way when I try to prevision jump back. But a very minor complaint at that. Almost perfectly passed my first test.

The next US event scheduled is Battle In The Valley on 1/13/24 in San Jose, CA. Tickets are on sale now. Broadcast plans TBA.

The next event in Japan is Anjo Rainy Days tomorrow at Tosho Arena Anjo in Aichi. This may be a Kazuchika Okada hometown event. The matches will not be announced ahead of event time. There will be no live or on demand broadcast.
