Tokyo Joshi Pro 9/9/23 Results

Tokyo Joshi Pro continued the CITY CIRCUIT Tour today with their first-ever event in Hiroshima.

Today’s event was held at Hiroshima Industrial Hall West Exhibition Hall 2nd Exhibition Hall in Hiroshima and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date (probably Tuesday). There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 223.

Match 1: Yuki AIno beat HIMAWARI.

Match 2: Mahiro Kiryu beat Kaya Toribami.

Match 3: Yuki Kamifuku beat Toga.

Match 4: Yuki Arai, Suzume & Arisu Endo beat Mizuki, Wakana Uehara & Shino Suzuki. Arai beat Suzuki with a scorpion deathlock.

Match 5: Rika Tatsumi & Miu Watanabe beat Miyu Yamashita & Moka Miyamoto. Watanabe pinned Miyamoto after Daydream Eternity.

Main Event: Princess Tag Team Championship Tournament: Nao Kakuta & Hikari Noa beat Hyper Misao & Shoko Nakajima and Raku & Pom Harajuku in a 3-way when Kakuta pinned Nakajima. As a result, Kakuta & Noa will face the winners of a second 3-way scheduled for tomorrow at WRESTLE PRINCESS 4 on 10/9 for the titles.

The next event is tomorrow at Kyoto KBS Hall in Kyoto. There will be no live broadcast.

DDT 9/9/23 Results

DDT’s latest major event, BIG BANG 2023, was held earlier today.

Today’s event was held at Ota City General Gym in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 1363.

Match 1: Masa Takanashi, Antonio Honda & Illusion beat Yuni, Kazuma Sumi & Rukiya. Takanashi pinned Yuni.

Match 2: In a Disband Contra Vice President Match, Akito beat Yuki Iino. As a result, Pheromones must disband. That will (thankfully?) happen on 10/4 at Shinjuku Face.

Match 3: HARASHIMA, Kazusada Higuchi & Takao Soma beat Yukio Naya, Yuya Koroku & Takeshi Masada. Higuchi pinned Koroku after Doctor Bomb.

Match 4: In a Kazuki Hirata Death Match, DDT Extreme Champion Kazuki Hirata beat DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion Naruki Doi to retain the Extreme title and win the Iron Man title. Hirata becomes the 1576th DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion. V2 for Hirata. Next up: Hiromu Takahashi (New Japan), who unsuccessfully then tried to win the Ironman title. That match will happen on 11/12 at Ryogoku Kokugikan.

Match 5: KO-D 6-Man and All-Japan 6-Man Tag Team Champions Yukio Sakaguchi, Saki Akai & Hideki Okatani beat Yuko Miyamoto, Isami Kodaka & Ram Kaichow to retain the titles. Sakaguchi pinned Miyamoto after God’s Right Knee. DDT V3 & All-Japan V2 for the champs.

Match 6: In a Time Difference Scramble Bunkhouse Current Explosion Deathmatch, Atsushi Onita, Yoshitatsu (All-Japan) & Toi Kojima beat Jun Akiyama, Sanshiro Takagi & Yusuke Okada. Yoshitatsu pinned Takagi after a snadwich-type exploding bat full swing. This seems to have cost Akiyama an All-Asia Tag Team Championship match, but Onita declared it will still happen. That match will happen on 9/18 in an Electric Blast Death Match.

Match 7: Minoru Fujita & KANON beat KO-D Tag Team Champions Yuji Hino & Makoto Oishi to win the titles. Fujita & KANON become the 79th KO-D Tag Team Champions. KANON beat Oishi with a cobra twist.

Match 8: Yuki Ueno & MAO beat Konosuke Takeshita & Daisuke Sasaki. Ueno pinned Sasaki after BME. Afterwards, Ueno pledged his allegiance to The37Kamiina and MAO challenged Takeshita to a match. That match will happen on 9/24 at Korakuen Hall.

Main Event: KO-D Openweight Champion Chris Brookes beat Shigehiro Irie to retain the title. V1 for Brookes. Next up: He chose…Saki Akai! Her first chance at the title! And almost certainly her last due to her upcoming retirement. That match will happen on 9/24.

The next event is tomorrow at Global Ring Theater, Ikebukuro West Exit Park Outdoor Theater in Tokyo. This is a free event and is an outdoor event and is weather permitting, if weather is bad it will be cancelled. There will be no live broadcast.

Pro Wrestling NOAH resumed the never-ending SUNNY VOYAGE 2023 Tour today with a house show in Tokyo.

Today’s event was held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 402.

Match 1: YO-HY & Tadasuke beat Taishi Ozawa & Yu Owada. Tadasuke pinned Owada after a brainbuster.

Match 2: Adam Brooks & Mohammed Yone beat Atsushi Kotoge & Hi69. Brooks pinned Hi69 after Aussie Buster.

Match 3: Yoshinari Ogawa, Daga & LEONA (Dradition) beat Hajime Ohara, Junta Miyawaki & Kai Fujimura. LEONA beat Fujimura with a Texas cloverleaf.

Match 4: Saxon Huxley beat Anthony Greene.

Match 5: Kaito Kiyomiya & Ryohei Oiwa (New Japan) beat Timothy Thatcher & Shuhei Taniguchi. Kiyomiya pinned Taniguchi after a transformed Shining Wizard.

New Japan 9/9/23 Results

New Japan continued the Road to DESTRUCTION Tour today with the second half of an opening Tokyo doubleheader.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on New Japan World. This was a Samurai! TV broadcast in Japan.

The paid attendance has not yet been announced.

There were again last-minute changes to the card because Boltin Oleg remained out due to an infection in his left arm and related fever, and also because Zack Sabre Jr. asked to defend the NJPW WORLD TV Championship against Satoshi Kojima after his defense yesterday-that last-minute change was made.

Match 1: Yoh & Ryusuke Taguchi beat TAKA Michinoku & DOUKI. Yoh pinned TAKA after Black Hole Vacation.

Match 2: Tomoaki Honma, Master Wato, Shota Umino & Yuji Nagata beat Yuto Nakashima, El Desperado, Ren Narita & Minoru Suzuki. Umino pinned Nakashima after Death Slider.

Match 3: Toru Yano, YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto beat Bad Dude Tito, Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls. Goto pinned Tito after Shoto.

Match 4: Yujiro Takahashi, Sho & EVIL beat DOUKI, Taichi & SANADA. EVIL pinned DOUKI after EVIL. There was an absolute last-second change here because Yoshinobu Kanemaru was supposed to be in the match but he injured his knee when Just 5 Guys attempted a pre-match sneak attack on House Of Torture. DOUKI was the replacement.

Match 5: NJPW WORLD TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. beat Satoshi Kojima by submission to retain the title. V14(!) for Sabre.

Match 6: NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Champions Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kazuchika Okada beat Tiger Mask, Togi Makabe & Hiroyoshi Tenzan to retain the titles. Ishii pinned Tenzan after a vertical drop brainbuster. V2 for the champs.

Main Event: In an elimination match, Callum Newman, HENARE, Great-O-Khan, Jeff Cobb & Will Ospreay beat BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, Yota Tsuji, Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito. Cobb was the only winner left, last eliminating Naito. This could have Tokyo Dome main event implications if this perhaps results in Naito being forced to defend his title shot contract against Cobb.

The next event is BLUE JUSTICE 13, a Yuji Nagata Produced event, tomorrow at Togane Arena in Chiba. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at midnight PT/3 AM ET.

Impact Wrestling “Victory Road” Results (9/8/23)

Impact Wrestling runs their monthly live event, Victory Road, tonight to start a huge weekend for the promotion that includes the taping of their landmark 1000th TV episode tomorrow (that episode will air Thursday). As usual there are a lot of big matches tonight that may spill into next week’s TV and beyond-the first big return tonight is Jordynne Grace. Now that Deonna Purrazzo is no longer Knockouts Champion Grace can get back in the title picture (Grace previously lost a match with a stip that she could never get another title shot while Purrazzo was champion), and ironically that path goes through Purrazzo tonight while current champion Trinity defends the title against Alisha Edwards, who sneakily screwjobbed her way into the title shot via a battle royal win. Elsewhere, the previously anticipated Josh Alexander-Steve Maclin showdown happens tonight, while not for the Impact World Championship the winner could be next in line. Among the other scheduled title matches are Lio Rush defending the X Division Championship against KUSHIDA and Motor City Machine Guns challenging Rascalz for the Impact Tag Team Championship. And Tommy Dreamer competes in what could be his final match when he challenges Kenny King for the Impact Digital Media Championship as Dreamer is putting his career on the line.

Today’s event will be held at Westchester Country Center in White Plains, NY and can be watched LIVE on Impact+ (subscription required), YouTube (Ultimate Insider subscription requited) and FITE ($9.99, includes live broadcast and unlimited on demand replays). There will also be a FREE 30-minute pre-show on all 3 platforms before the event. Including the pre-show this should be a standard monthly live event with a total runtime of approx. 3 1/2 hours. Today’s event was held at Yoyogi National Stadium Gym 2 in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on AJPW.TV. Former Stardom wrestler and inaugural Wonder Of Stardom Champion Yuzuki Aikawa was a special guest on commentary.

The announced paid attendance was 1675.

Match 1: Yoshitatsu beat Black Menso-re.

Match 2: Naruki Doi, Naoki Tanisaki (Independent/Freelancers) & Hokuto Omori beat Kotaro Suzuki (Pro Wrestling NOAH), Keiichi Sato & MAZADA (Independent/Freelancer). Omori pinned Sato after Worst Of The Worst.

Match 3: Masanobu Fuchi Return Match: Masanobu Fuchi, Kaz Hayashi (GLEAT) & Ryuji Hijikata (Independent/Freelancer) beat Osamu Nishimura, Mitsuya Nagai (Dradition) & Masao Inoue. Fuchi pinned Inoue.

New Japan kicked off the Road To DESTRUCTION Tour today with the opening event in Tokyo., coming back from possibly their longest break of the year.

The announced paid attendance was 1087.

There was a last-minute change to the card because Boltin Oleg was off. Left wrist injury and fever. He was to have faced Zack Sabre Jr. for the NJPW WORLD TV Championship. Ryohei Oiwa was the replacement at Oleg’s request.

Before the event began, a 10 Bell Salute for the legendary Terry Funk, who passed away recently, was held. Funk regularly visited Japan in his prime along with his brother Dory Funk Jr., who remains involved with All-Japan Pro Wrestling.

Match 1: DOUKI & Yoshinobu Kanemaru beat Yoh & Ryusuke Taguchi. Kanemaru beat Taguchi with a figure 4.

Match 2: Tomoaki Honma, El Desperado, Ren Narita & Minoru Suzuki beat Oskar Leube, Master Wato, Shota Umino & Yuji Nagata. Narita beat Leube with a cobra twist.

Match 3: Bad Dude Tito, Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls beat Toru Yano, YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto. Haste pinned Yano after Highway To Hell.

Match 4: Yuto Nakashima, Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kazuchika Okada vs. Tiger Mask, Togi Makabe, Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan went to a no contest. Tenzan out of control, breaking ref’s restraint and continuously assaulting Ishii. Tenzan is part of a trio challenging Ishii, Tanahashi & Okada for the NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Championship tomorrow.

Match 5: Hiromu Takahashi, Yota Tsuji, Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito beat Callum Newman, HENARE, Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb. Tsuji pinned Newman after Gene Blaster. According to New Japan’s Japanese website, Newman is a new member of United Empire.

Match 6: NJPW WORLD TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr. beat Ryohei Oiwa to retain the title. V13(!) for Sabre. Next up: If Sabre has his way, Kojima. Sabre wants it tomorrow but Kojima is already in a match. Stay tuned…

Frankie Kazarian then made the save as cameras cut away to commercial.

Injury Report: TJPW Body Count Rising Again

Tokyo Joshi Pro is going through another tough injury absence stretch. Suzume missed an event lat week but should be back this weekend, however they have announced two new absences-Neko Haruna (again) & Haru Kazashiro. Haruna recently just returned from injury but now is out due to a knee injury. Kazashiro is out due to coronavirus. Both will miss the two events this weekend. Their status beyond that is mot yet known but both should be considered questionable for the upcoming events on 9/15 and 9/17.
