Tokyo Joshi Pro continues their fall house show tour today with an event in Tokyo, which will feature more comings and goings on the roster. The coming is a comeback featuring the return of Neko Haruna, who has been out for over a year (since Fall 2023) due to injury but will make her return today. The going is today will be the final match for Runa Okubo before she goes on another extended hiatus. Like the first time she took a long break, this is to allow her to focus on education (she’s only 16 and started high school earlier this year) and was a mutual decision made between Okubo, the promotion and her parents. It’s not known how long she will be away this time but she will be back at some point.

Before the event begins there will be a draft meeting to determine the teams for a Raku Team vs. Pom Harajuku Team Battle at the 11/10 event.

Today’s event will be held at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. There are 7 matches scheduled including a NEXGENE Tournament match with no time limit, but I expect this to be a “regular” house show with a total running time of, not including the draft meeting, about 2 hours.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Sayuri Namba was already in the ring for the draft meeting so no good look yet. These events typically do 200-250 so we’ll see. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 350, a super full house/very near sellout. Very high for a KFC house show. Full capacity is, I believe, between 450-500. Clearly a lot of people came out to see Neko Haruna return)

They are doing a random name draw for teams for a Raku Army vs. Pom Harajuku Army battle on 11/10. The matches should begin in about 20 minutes.

The matches begin at 8:50 PM PT/11:50 PM ET. Lots of announcements beforehand including by Mizuki, Yuki Aino & Hyper Misao. More on those later (The announcements were the first outside Tokyo 2025 events on 1/11 at Kobe Art Center in Kobe and 1/12 at Okayama Mirai Hall in Okayama, and that Hyper Misao will return on 11/22).

Match 1: Arisu Endo & Toga vs. Kira Summer & Chika Nanase. 20 minute time limit
Result: Arisu Endo & Toga beat Kira Summer & Chika Nanase. Endo beat Nanase with a camel clutch.

Match 2: Yuki Aino, Pom Harajuku & Raku vs. Neko Haruna, Suzume & Mahiro Kiryu. 20 minute time limit
Result: Yuki Aino, Pom Harajuku & Raku beat Neko Haruna, Suzume & Mahiro Kiryu. Aino pinned Haruna after Venus DDT.

Match 3: NEXGENE Tournament: Haru Kazashiro vs. Uta Takami. No time limit
Reslut: Haru Kazashiro beat Uta Takami. As a result, Kazashiro advances to the Semifinals on 11/16 and will face the Wakana Uehara-Chika Nanase winner. That match will happen on 11/3.

Match 4: Yuki Kamifuku vs. Runa Okubo. 15 minute time limit
Result: Yuki Kamifuku beat Runa Okubo. Afterwards, Kamifuku left first as Okubo was able to address the crowd as this was her last match before she goes on an indefinite hiatus to focus on school. Understandably she was very emotional as she thanked the fans for their support. She will be back some day, we just don’t know when.

Match 5: Shoko Nakajima & Yoshiko Hasegawa vs. Moka Miyamoto & Kaya Toribami. 20 minute time limit
Result: Moka Miyamoto & Kaya Toribami beat Shoko Nakajima & Yoshiko Hasegawa. Miyamoto beat Hasegawa with Rashomon.

Match 6: Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh vs. Rika Tatsumi & HIMAWARI. 20 minute time limit
Result: Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh beat Rika Tatsumi & HIMAWARI. Yamashita pinned HIMAWARI after Skull Kick.

Tokyo Joshi Pro had announced that Runa Okubo, the youngest member of the roster, is going on another indefinite hiatus, and likely a long-term one. Because of changes in her life right now, pertaining in large part to education (she started high school earlier this year), she would have a hard time balancing wrestling & school so after discussions with the promotion and her parents, it was decided she would take another extended hiatus from wrestling after next Sunday’s event at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo. Her final match will be against Yuki Kamifuku. Okubo will be back at some point like last time but when isn’t known. Not knowing bow the Japanese education calendar works I’m thinking at least 6 months.

Tokyo Joshi Pro continued their fall 2024 house show tour today in Sendai.

Today’s event was held at Yume Messe Miyagi West Hall in Sendai and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date (probably Tuesday). There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 159.

It was announced before the event that Miyu Yamashita would miss this event due to being on an excursion to the US.

As part of her usual opening announcements, Sayuri Namba gave a short personal speech as today is her birthday (she’s in her early 30s I think). It’s also Miu Watanabe’s birthday (she’s 25 today).

Match 1: Moka Miyamoto beat Chika Nanase by submission.

Match 2: Mahiro Kiryu beat Haru Kazashiro & Kaya Toribami in a 3-way by pinning Kazashiro.

Match 3: NEXGENE Tournament 2024 Quarterfinals: Kira Summer beat Shino Suzuki. As a result, Summer advances to the Semifinals and will face Toga. That match will happen on 11/16.

Match 4: Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku beat Maki Itoh, Toga & Uta Takami. Aino pinned Takami after Venus DDT.

Match 5: Mizuki beat Yoshioko Hasegawa.

Tokyo Joshi Pro just announced a big title match for later this year when Zara Zakher returns to the promotion…remember her impressive showing in the Tokyo Princess Cup, which included beating Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe in Round 2 in a massive upset? Rematch time and this time it’s for the title. That match will happen on 11/16 at “The Mountain Top ’24” at Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka. It will be the first such title match in Osaka in over 5 years (September 2019). Zakher also has been announced for the 11/22 event at Shibjuku Face in Tokyo.

Today’s event was held at Kasukabe Fureai Cube in Saitama and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date (probably Wednesday). There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 218.

Before the matches began, it was annoonced that Neko Haruna’s return match on 10/27 at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo will be Neko Haruna, Suzume & Mahiro Kiryu vs. Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku. Haruna has been out since last 2023 due to injuries.

Match 1: Wakana Uehara & Shino Suzuki beat Haru Kazashiro & Chika Nanase. Suzuki beat Nanase with a body chokehold.

Match 2: Mizuki beat Uta Takami & Raku in a 3-way by pinning Takami.

Match 3: Kaya Toribami beat Yoshiko Hasegawa.

Match 4: Rika Tatsumi & Arisu Endo beat Miki Fortune & Kira Summer. Tatsumi pinned Summer after Twist Of Fate. This was Fortune’s TJPW debut-she is Kira’s real-life older sister.

Match 5: NEXGENE 2024 Tournament Quarterfinals: Toga beat HIMAWARI. As a result, Toga advances to the Semifinals and will face the Shino Suzuki-Kira Summer winner. That match is scheduled for 10/19 with the Semifinals scheduled for 11/16.

Match 6: Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh beat Mahiro Kiryu & Moka Miyamoto. Itoh beat Kiryu with Itoh Punish.

Main event: Miu Watanabe & Suzume beat Yuki Aino & Pom Harajuku. Watanabe pinned Harajuku after Teardrop.

Tokyo Joshi Pro runs their monthly mid-major event, ALL RISE ’24, today in Tokyo. It’s not quite as major as most monthly events because in an unusual occurrence there are no TJPW title matches and the only title match is for outside titles. The main attraction is an appearance by Meiko Satomura-the highly respected 30-year veteran is retiring in April and will find herself opposite Miyu Yamashita for the first time in 7 years, which was early on in Yamashita’s career when they faced each other in a single match. This time it’s a tag match as an early stop in Satomura’s farewell tour as her career has taken her from All-Japan Women to being a co-founder of Sendai Girls with Jinsei Shinzaki, to WWE in recent years (as part of the NXT brand, mostly it’s short-lived UK spinoff and as a coach) and now back to Japan and TJPW. As for the title match, Yuki Kamifuku will defend the Queen Of Asia & VPW (Vietnam) Certified Women’s Championships against Xia Zhao, the former Xia Li in WWE (the first Chinese woman wrestler in the promotion) who also has begun competing in TNA Wrestling under a different name.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese and English. There are 8 matches scheduled but only the title match and main event have more than 20 minute time limits so expect this to be a “standard” Korakuen event with a running time of about 2 1/2 hours, the longest it could possibly go is about 3 hours.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Both north side bleachers behind commentary are tarped off so it’s the usual reduced capacity setup and the Xia Zhao absence announcement may hurt same-day ticket sales. Advance sales seemed to be “as usual” so while it’s too early to take a guess I’ll predict it’ll be “my usual guess” of around 700. (After seeing some wider shots of the reserved seats mid-event I’m revising my prediction downward quite a bit to around 550) (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 611)

The matches should begin in about 20 minutes.

During the opening announcements two new trainees were introduced (didn’t get their names). One of them might be part of Up Up Girls in the future. The promotion will be holding tryouts on 10/31 (anyone can apply with the only requirements being between 13-25 years old and able to come to Tokyo for practice). Also announced recently was the bracket for the NEXGENE ’24 Tournament and that the winner gets a future title shot of their choice (Princess Of Princess, International Princess or Princess Tag Team). So one of them could be the next challenger for either Miu Watanabe or Yuki Arai. Neko Haruna then came out. She has been out most of the year due to injuries but it sounds like she may be very close to returning, possibly when they go back to Ryogoku KFC Hall later this month. Updates will follow. Then it’s Up Up Girls time so we’re trending for a roughly 7:45 PM PT start for the matches. (Update: Neko Haruna will return on 10/27)

The TBA for Kamifuku’s opponent will not be revealed until match time. It was also moved from match 7 to match 6 with Ryo Mizunami vs. Arisu Endo now the semifinal.

The announced paid attendance was 219.

There was no Raku and no Pom Harajuku at this event as both are on international excursions.

In other news, the promotion announced thie year’s NEXGENE tournament, only for rookies and second year wrestlers, will begin on 10/13. It’s a single-elimination event with 8 participants, which is everyone who’s debuted on the last year-plus except for Runa Okubo.

Tokyo Joshi Pro returned to Fukushima yesterday for another Arisu Endo hometown event.

Yesterday’s event was held at Aizuwakamatsu City Tsuruga Castle Gym in Fukushima and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE Tuesday. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 462, a super full house/very near sellout. (For the seating configuration, the venue’s actual capacity is much higher)

Match 1: Toga beat Uta Takami.

Match 2: Match 2: Pom Harajuku beat Chika Nanase.

Match 3: Yoshiko Hasegawa & Runa Okubo beat Yuki Aino & Shino Suzuki. Hasegawa beat Suzuki with a muffler hold.

The next event is WRESTLE PRINCESS 5, their second-biggest annual event, on 9/22 at Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall 6 in Chiba. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin Saturday at 10 PM PT/1 AM ET. Former SKE48 member Marika Tani will make her regular major-event appearance as a guest on commentary along with former AKB48 member Chiyori Nakanishi. SKE48 member Shiori Aoki will return as a special referee for one match, possibly her last as she will be leaving SKE48 later this year (I believe it’s at the end of November).
