Ring Of Honor “Final Battle 2022” Results (12/10/22)

Ring Of Honor holds it’s traditional final major event of the year today, Final Battle 2022, but compared to last year’s very sad theme where it marked the potential end of the promotion, there is a feeling of great optimism this year under All Elite Wrestling owner/founder Tony Khan’s ownership, in part because many are anticipating a new TV or streaming deal to get ROH back on the air is going to be announced soon, possibly this weekend. In the meantime, they wrap up the year with one final loaded card mixing up both ROH and AEW stars for 6 title matches. The main event will be a rematch of Chris Jericho and Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship, but there’s a stip with huge AEW implications-if Castagnoli loses and doesn’t win the title back, he must leave Blackpool Combat Club and join Jericho Appreciation Society. Just before that should be another Instant Classic as FTR defend the ROH Tag Team Championship one more time against The Briscoes in a Double Dog Collar Match.

Today’s event will be held at College Park Center at University Of Texas-Arlington in Artlington, TX and can be watched LIVE on PPV via major cable/satellite providers and Bleacher Report in the US. Outside of the US, it can be watched on ppv.com and FITE. There will also be a FREE 1 hour pre-show on YouTube before the PPV and the post-event media scrum will also stream on YouTube. Based on the media scrum planned start time and pre-show, this could be a marathon event with a total runtime of potentially 4-5 hours. Note that the earlier start time is because they didn’t want to go head-to-head with WWE and, in particular, UFC tonight-the latter has a PPV at 10 PM ET and AEW’s own MJF is scheduled to be in attendance. Also, they claimed on last night’s AEW Rampage there was no college football to go against in this time slot. Clearly Tony Schiavone doesn’t know about the tradition that is America’s Game-Army vs. Navy. ROH is going against it. (GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!)

Today’s current lineup:
Pre-show:
Top Flight vs. The Kingdom
Willow Nightingale vs. Trish Adora
Jericho Appreciation Society vs. Shinobi Samurai Squad
Jeff Cobb vs. Mascara Dorada

PPV:
Blake Christian & AR Fox vs. Rush & Dralistico
Shane Taylor Promotions vs. Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland
ROH 6-Man Tag Team Champions Dalton Castle & The Boyz vs. Gates Of Agony for the titles
ROH Pure Champion Daniel Garcia vs. Wheeler Yuta for the title
ROH Women’s Champion Mercedes Martinez vs. Athena for the title
ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe vs. Juice Robinson for the title
ROH Tag Team Champions FTR vs. The Briscoes in a Double Dog Collar Match for the titles
ROH World Champion Chris Jericho vs. Claudio Castagnoli for the title. If Castagnoli loses, he must join JAS

The post-event media scrum on YouTube will begin shortly (as of 7:10 PM ET). (UPDATE: It is now scheduled to start at 7:15 PM ET)

UPDATE: At the end of the media scrum, Tony Khan revealed more about TV plans for ROH: For now, it will be on the re-launched HonorClub. It also will include all prior ROH TV content and more plus this and upcoming PPVs 90 days after they occur. For now the monthly price will stay the same as before-$9.99. You can go to watchroh.com to subscribe. Live events will likely stay on Bleacher Report as long as owner Warner Bros. Discovery wants it. Plans for the return of weekly TV will be revealed as the time gets closer. So the good news is it’s on the way and now seems to be when rather than if. Khan also noted that .while it will be a little later for PPV buy estimates due to the early start time, the live gate and attendance was the biggest ever for the Final Battle event.

Guests at the scrum were Athena, Claudio Castagnoli and Samoa Joe (who also had the AEW TNT Title belt and was acting very much in AEW character, making for some humorous moments). It ended at about 8:35 PM ET, running about 80 minutes. The whole thing can be watched on demand on YouTube.

AEW Rampage 12/9/22 Results

Here are the quick results from last night’s AEW Rampage in Austin, TX:

AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy beat TBA, picked by Kip Sabian and revealed to be Trent Seven, to retain the title.

A Ruby Soho & Tay Melo Speaks segment advertised for the show never happened. Instead they’ll have a match next week on Dynamite.

Next Week: Winter Is Coming aka the annual “IT’S STINK! (Sting)” episode of Dynamite. Main Event is AEW World Champion MJF vs. Ricky Starks for the title AND the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 12/10/22 Results

Tokyo Joshi Pro continues the CITY CIRCUIT 2022 series with a visit to Hamamatsu City in Shizuoka Prefecture today. For the most part it’s a regular house show but there is a title match on tap-Miyu Yamashita will defend the EVE Championship against Rio, and it’s been decided that it will have EVE rules. This differs from a regular title match in that there are no countouts, and if a wrestler isn’t fighting with enough spirit after ref warnings, they can be DQ’d.

Also, once again there are several missing names from the lineup-Maki Itoh & Yuki Kamifuku are out due to being in Malaysia, while Nao Kakuta continues to be absent due to stage performances.

Today’s event will be held at Entetsu Hall in Shizuoka and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. Since there are 4 single matches on the 6 match card it should be an average house show length-wise, with an anticipated total running time of just under 2 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Suzume vs. Kaya Toribami
Hyper Misao vs. Mahiro Kiryu
Hikari Noa vs. Neko Haruna
Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki vs. Raku & Pom Harajuku
Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Aino & Arisu Endo vs. Miu Watanabe, Rika Tatsumi & Moka Miyamoto
Pro Wrestling EVE Champion Miyu Yamashita vs. Rio for the title

The matches begin at 11:15 PM ET. We may be hard-camera only again even though there’s one video cameraman at ringside.

In the early moments of the event, TJPW announced on Twitter the Shizuoka return date is 5/13/23 at Act City Hamamatsu Exhibition Event Hall.

Match 1: Suzume vs. Kaya Toribami. 15 minute time limit
Result: Suzume beat Kaya Toribami

Match 2: Hyper Misao vs. Mahiro Kiryu. 15 minute time limit

Result: Miu Watanabe, Rika Tatsumi & Moka Miyamoto beat Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Aino & Arisu Endo. Watanabe pinned Endo after Teardrop.

Main Event: Pro Wrestling EVE Champion Miyu Yamashita vs. Rio for the title. EVE Rules (no countouts, can be DQ’s for lack of fighting spirit after referee warnings). 30 minute time limit
Result: Pro Wrestling EVE Champion Miyu Yamashita beat Rio to retain the title. V2 for Yamashita.

The next event is “Angel And Rabbit” Thursday at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo, which will be a Mizuki 10th Anniversary event. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 2 AM PT/5 AM ET.

UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 215, a super full house/very near sellout.

FREE VIDEO: IMPACT “Instant Classic” (12/8/22)

On last night’s Impact Wrestling, which was preciously taped, Impact World Champion Josh Alexander had an open challenge for the title and defended against former X Champion Mike Bailey as a result. What transpired was a 1 HOUR match that is being called an Instant Classic. If you missed it, or (like me) you don’t get AXS TV or subscribe to their streaming service (or YouTube premium plans), they just added the ENTIRE MATCH UNCUT on YouTube. Watch FOR FREE below:

New Japan 12/8/22 Results

New Japan ran the penultimate day of the World Tag League today, with 5 teams still with a chance to make the Finals and one team being able to lock up a spot.

Today’s event was held at Kochi Prefectural Gym in Kochi and can be watched on demand on New Japan World.

The announced paid attendance was 942.

Match 1: Bad Luck Fale beat Yuto Nakashima.

Match 2: Aaron Henare & Great-O-Khan beat Oskar Leube & Ryohei Oiwa. Henare pinned Leube after Rampage.

Match 3: Kevin Knight, KUSHIDA, Master Wato & Tomoaki Honma beat Gedo, Chris Bey, Ace Austin & Taiji Ishimori. Knight pinned Gedo after a high angle DDT.

Match 4: Titan, Hiromu Takahashi & Shingo Takagi beat DOUKI, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado. Takagi beat DOUKI with STF.

World Tag League:
Match 5: YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto beat Gabriel Kidd & Alex Coughlin. YOSHI-HASHI pinned Kidd after Shoto.
Match 6: Yujiro Takahashi & EVIL beat Toru Yano & Hiroshi Tanahashi. EVIL pinned Tanahashi after EVIL.
Match 7: Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls beat Aussie Open. Nicholls pinned Kyle Fletcher after Tank Buster.
Main Event: SANADA & Tetsuya Naito beat Lance Archer & Minoru Suzuki. Naito pinned Suzuki after Destino.

Aussie Open remains the leaders but their preliminary tournament is done as they were one of the teams to get a free win because of the Fale/Chase Owens withdrawal. The top 2 make the Finals and 4 teams still have a chance, but not all will qualify because two of the teams tied for 2nd, Haste/Nicholls and Goto/YOSHI-HASHI, meet on the final day. Naito/SANADA must beat Yujiro/EVIL to have a chance. If there is a 3-way tie, if head-to-head results determine the final then it gets very messy outside of Aussie Open needing Goto/YOSHI-HASHI to win. Best-case for them is Haste/Nicholls-Goto/YOSHI-HASHI going to a draw, if there is a winner either way it costs Aussie Open a potential tiebreaker (they lost to both).

The final day is Sunday. The next event is tomorrow at Uwajima City Overall Gym in Ehime with the final day of the Super Jr. Tag League. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at 12:30 AM PT/3:30 AM ET.

BREAKING: All-Japan Losing 3 Wrestlers

In a series of news items just posted, All-Japan has announced 3 wrestlers are leaving the promotion at the end of the year: Izanagi, TAJIRI and the biggest loss of the trio-Jake Lee. Their contracts are expiring on December 31. All will continue to appear for the promotion until then.

Lee is a 2-time All-Japan Triple Crown Champion and has been one of the promotion’s top stars since the coronavirus pandemic began. TAJIRI is known to fans worldwide from his prior time in ECW, WWF/E and almost everywhere else around the world. TAJIRI seems to plan to keep going elsewhere as he’s well into his third decade as an active wrestler.

More as it becomes available.

Match 6: Kento Miyahara & Takuya Nomura beat Jun & Rei Saito by ref stoppage. Nomura beat Jun Saito with a sleeper hold. That ended the tournament, but it meant there was a tie, so a tiebreaker match between Miyahara/Nomura and Ishikawa/Cyrus would be held.

Match 7: Jr. Battle Of Glory Finals: Atsuki Aoyagi beat Dan Tamura to win the tournament. This was a tiebreaker match with no time limit. Aoyagi beat Tamura in the final tournament match to force a rematch.

Main Event: World Tag League Finals: Kento Miyahara & Takuya Nomura beat Shuji Ishikawa & Cyrus to win the tournament. Miyahara pinned Ishikawa with a shutdown suplex hold.

The next event is #ajpw XMASEVE 4 on 12/21 at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo. Live streaming on AJPW.TV will begin at 1:30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET.
