TJPW News: Title Matches Today, More (Updated)

Some Tokyo Joshi Pro news today:

At a joint IWA Japan/SETUP Pro Wrestling event today in Tokyo, there was a title change as Miyu Yamashita & Kaya Toribami became the new IWA JAPAN SETUP World Tag Team Champions, especially significant for Toribami as this is her first career championship, coming 4 years after her debut. Unfortunately for us Pom Harajuku failed in her attempt to reclaim the SETUP All-Asia Women’s Championship, which was the first title of her career and one she held in the past year.

Today’s event is expected to be available on demand in about 10 days. Updates to follow from IWA Japan and SETUP.

Some of the roster is in Malaysia for an event tomorrow (look for Kira Summer and especially Mifu Ashida posting lots of pics on social media), which will also feature live performances by Up Up Girls and KLP48, a Malaysia-based branch of J-pop megagroup AKB48. This event will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date with Japanese commentary.

Finally, it has been announced that Shoko Nakajima is off the major 12/7 event at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Unspecified circumstances which has me thinking potential schedule conflicts with Major League Wrestling as she is the MLW Women’s Featherweight Champion. A masked wrestler playing off of special guests Ovha Norma is the replacement.

UPDATE: DEVELOPING-After retaining the SETUP All-Asia Women’s Championship today against Pom Harajuku & Ram Kaichow in a 3-way, Matcha has now challenged Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe to a match on 12/13 in Bangkok, Thailand for the title. TJPW runs an event that day after a SETUP event earlier in the day at the same venue (The Circus Studio). More as it becomes available.

Lower tier noted: Enho took his first loss today against Kazuma, the September Sandanme Champion who made a massive leap up to Ms15 and now has won 10 straight matches overall. Amazingly, he has only 2 career losses so far but also has more absent days than wins (30 absent, 27 wins) so far due to missing 4 tournaments because of an injury in his debut tournament (after he clinched promotion). Enho will try to bounce back on Day 7 or 8.

Stardom continued the Goddesses Of Stardom Tag League Tournament today in Aomori.

There were last-minute changes to the card due to Suzu Suzuki and Ema Maishima being pulled off the event. Suzuki-the always vague poor health. Maishima-undisclosed injury.

The next event is Saturday at Chateraise Gateau Kingdom Sapporo in Hokkaido. There will be no live broadcast.

Injury Report: A Pair of Dimmed Stars (Updated)

Stardom announced there were a pair of injury absences from today’s events as both Suzu Suzuki & Ema Maishima were/are out. Suzuki-the always vague poor health. Maishima-undisclosed injury. Besides card changes that meant it affected the Goddess Of Stardom Tag League as Suzuki & Rina Yamashita had to take a forfeit loss to Aya Sakura & Sayaka Kurara. It’s not yet known if either will miss additional time.

UPDATE: Both are now off the next 2 events on 11/15 & 11:16 in Hokkaido.

Injury Report: Even The Brave Need Breaks

Dragon Gate has just announced an injury change to upcoming events, somewhat significant because Open The Brave Gate Champion Ryoya Tanaka is headed to the disabled list. Shoulder. Out indefinitely but will be at least a couple weeks because he is now off 11/22, meaning he is out of KING OF GATE and YAMATO will get a forfeit win and advance to the Quarterfinals as a result.

New Japan 11/12/25 Results

Once again New Japan was convinced to let Taiji Ishimori pretend to be a reckless superhuman today and put on his own event so we got “Superhuman Taiji Ishimori Is Reckless Once Again”.

Today’s event was held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched on demand as a PPV on New Japan World for about 3000 Japanese yen in Japan or $21.99 in the US. You can also watch the pre-show FOR FREE on YouTube.

The announced paid attendance was 465, a legit advance sellout. That’s 93% max capacity for the venue (500 for wrestling).

Of note: On a side note to Mita, the injury led his stablemaster Futagoyama to have his head shaved for the first time in 30 years in a show of support for his prized fast-rising wrestler, the second-highest ranked in the stable behind Roga. Mita was fast-tracked on debut (Makushita debut) and despite late struggles in recent tournaments was on pace to reach the top tier anytime now. If he can return in March which seems best-case, he should still be in Makushita.

Lower tier notes: No match for Enho today as expected given he’s on the even-day schedule for now. His second match will be tomorrow.

News: PWI Women’s 250 Announced

As a longtime fan and reader of Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine, I was excited to get my digital new issue today because it features the second list of their ranking season, the PWI Women’s 250. Whereas the prior PWI 500 features all wrestlers but focuses on men (women are ranked though), this one is just for the ladies. As with the 500, this post focuses on spotlighting where women from and who compete mainly in Japan are ranked, plus the overall top 10.
