TJPW News: Notes From England Weekend

Tokyo Joshi Pro has provided a recap of Miyu Yamashita & Hyper Misao visiting England yesterday for a doubleheader in Pro Wrestling EVE (they missed the TJPW event in Kyoto as a result):
At the first event, Yamashita beat Millie McKenzie to earn an EVE Championship match against current champion Alex Windsor at the second event. At that second event, Yamashita beat Windsor to win the title. McKenzie made an immediate challenge and Yamashita accepted, but stated it will happen in Japan. That match will happen at ALL RISE ’22 on 11/27 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
Misao teamed with Session Moth Martina at the first event to challenge EVE Tag Team Champions Leah O’Reilly & Sky Smithson for the titles. In the end, Misao & Martina lost when Misao hit Hypami Returns on Smithson but O’Reilly made the save and a subsequent spray attack by Misao & Martina backfired. Smithson finished with Smithson Effect and the champs retained the titles. At the second event, in what appeared to be a hardcore comedy match, Misao beat Nightshade after Hypami Returns on a chair. Misao’s comedy “hero bicycle” also made the trip to Japan and appeared during this match.

Yamashita & Misao will be back for the next TJPW event, which is Sunday at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo to continue the Fall ’22 house show tour.

New Japan ran the second part of the TAMASHII launch event yesterday, their first event in Australia following what was considered a successful launch event in New Zealand.

The announced paid attendance was 500, a legit sellout.

Match 1: Jordan Allen-Wright beat Mat Diamond by submission.

Match 2: Unsocial Jotdan & Aaron Jake beat Richard Mulu & Jake Taylor. Jordan pinned Mulu with a schoolboy.

Match 3: Robbie Eagles beat Carter Deams by submission.

Match 4: Bad Luck Fale, Johnny Bonza & KENTA beat Mat London, Jude Rogers & Paris De Silva. Bonza pinned Silva.

Match 5: Aaron Solo beat Lyrebird Luchi.

Match 6: Michael Richards & Aaron Villalobos beat Caveman Ugg & Ricky South. Richards pinned Ugg after Fisherman’s Buster.

Main Event: Taiji Ishimori beat Mick Moretti by submission. Afterwards, Eagles issued an IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship challenge to Ishimori should he retain the title at Tokyo Dome, and added the match should be in Sydney.

Asanoyama Watch: The former Ozeki, now up to Makushita 3, won a difficult opening match against September Makushita Champion Daiseiryu. 6 wins in his 7 matches, maybe 5, should be enough for promotion back to Juryo in January.
Of note: Another withdrawal for former top-tier mainstay Ishiura due to injury. His 4th straight missed tournament will drop him down to the Sandanme.

DDT 11/13/22 Results

DDT continued the D KING GP today with a homecoming event for Yukio Sakaguchi & HARASHIMA and, following the Tokyo Joshi Pro event a couple hours before, a second such event for Saki Akai. The tournament entered the home stretch.

Today’s event was held at Kyoto KBS Hall in Kyoto and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 280, a super full house/very near sellout. Vocal cheering was allowed.

Match 1: Rickey Shane Page, Makoto Oishi & Yuya Koroku beat Joey Janela, Makoto Oishi & Kazuma Sumi. Koroku beat Sumi with a chicken wing. Yes, the results say Makoto Oishi was on both teams…

Match 2: Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata beat Danshoku Dieno & Yuki Iino by DQ. Iino DQ’d. Ref assault. Good thing Masayuki (referee) was properly wearing his face mask when Iino “assaulted” him.

Match 3: D KING GP Block B; Yukio Naya beat KANON.

Match 4: D KING GP Block B: Yuji Hino beat MAO.

Match 5; Tetsuya Endo, Naruki Doi & Akito beat Hideki Okatani, Yuki Ishida & Takeshi Masada. Doi pinned Ishida after Bakatare Sliding Kick. Afterwards, Doi announced his intent to continue participating in DDT in the future (he primarily has competed in Dragon Gate for most of his career).

Match 6: D KING GP Block A: Daisuke Sasaki beat Naomi Yoshimura.

Match 7: D KING GP Block B: Kazusada Higuchi beat Chris Brookes.

Main Event: Saki Akai Produced Match: Saki Akai, Yukio Sakaguchi & HARASHIMA beat Aja Kong, Yuki Ueno & DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion Shunma Katsumata. Sakaguchi pinned Katsumata after God’s Right Knee to win the title. Sakaguchi becomes the 1555th DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion. Which led to…
Saki Akai beat DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion Yukio Sakaguchi to win the title. Akai becomes the 1556th DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion. Apparently Hideki Okatani then tried to win the title from Akai but it appears he failed.

D KING GP Standings:
Block A:
1-Endo, 2-1-1, 5 pts
2-Sasaki, 2-1-1, 5 pts
3-Ueno, 2-2, 4 pts
4-Janela, 2-2, 4 pts
5-Page, 2-2, 4 pts
6-Yoshimura, 1-3, 2 pts (OUT)

Block B:
1-Higuchi, 3-0-1, 7 pts
2-Hino, 3-0-1, 7 pts
3-Naya, 3-1, 6 pts
4-Brookes, 1-3, 2 pts (OUT)
5-MAO, 1-4, 2 pts (OUT)
6-KANON, 1-4, 2 pts (OUT)
The winner of each block advances to the Finals. Block A comes down to Endo-Yoshimura & Sasaki-Ueno, but if both were to somehow end in a draw or no contest, the Janela-Page winner can steal it. It should be noted if Endo & Sasaki tie at the top, their head-to-head match ended in a time limit draw. Block B probably will come down to Higuchi-Naya. If Naya wins, Hino wins Block B with a win in his last match (Brookes) but Naya wins if Hino loses. If Higuchi wins and Hino loses or draws, Higuchi wins. If both Higuchi and Hino win, it gets very interesting because their head-to-head match was a time limit draw.

The next event is Friday at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 1:30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling “CITY CIRCUIT-Yuki Arai Local Triumphant Performance” Results (11/13/22) (Updated)

Tokyo Joshi Pro continues the CITY CIRCUIT series today with a return to Kyoto, the hometown of SKE48 member and Princess Tag Team Champion Yuki Arai. Appropriately enough, she is the featured star today and that means we get another hearty helping of AA Eye Candy as fellow Princess Tag Team Champion Saki Akai will be joining Arai for the main event as they face Miu Watanabe & Pom Harajuku in a NON-TITLE match. There is a bit of notable missing talent today as Miyu Yamashita & Hyper Misao will miss the event due to competing in England and Nao Kakuta will miss the event due to a stage/theater performance.

Today’s event will be held at Kyoto KBS Hall in Kyoto and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There probably will not be any commentary. The event is a legit advance sellout. The card is split evenly between single and tag matches so between that, and a DDT event shortly afterwards, this could be a quick event. I anticipate the total runtime being just under 2 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Shoko Nakajima vs. Suzume & Neko Haruna in a 3-way
Moka Miyamoto vs. Kaya Toribami
Yuki Aino & Raku vs. Yuki Kamifuku & Mahiro Kiryu
Rika Tatsumi vs. Arisu Endo
Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki vs. Maki Itoh & Hikari Noa

The winners’ post-match promo was interrupted before it even began by Raku & Yuki Aino. Challenge issued for the Princess Tag Team Championship. Accepted. We should soon find out when it will happen. Based on the current schedule I would tentatively expect 11/26, the next major event.

UPDATE: The tag title match will happen on 11/27 (11/26 US time).

All-Japan kicks off the annual World’s Strongest Tag League today, their yearly tag team tournament which this year is supported by a Jr. Heavyweight mini-tournament. Before the event there will be a pre-show dark match and traditional ceremonies to introduce all the participants for each tournament.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on AJPW.TV. There will likely be Japanese commentary. The pre-show match is scheduled to begin 20 minutes before the event. Today’s lineup:
Pre-show: Jr. Battle Of Glory Entrance Ceremony
Pre-show: Takao Omori, Yoshitatsu & TAJIRI vs. Izanagi, Black Menso-re & Oji Shiba

9 PM ET UPDATE: Live stream has launched. Waiting for broadcast to begin.

Updates will resume when the first match begins.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Hard camera seating on camera looks full, as do the middle bleachers opposite hard camera. Since this is a no-cheering event, I’m going to estimate the crowd is in the range of 750-850.

World’s Strongest Tag League Introduction Ceremony is first. Gets a little heated between Kento Miyahara & Suwama.

Match 1: Jr. Battle Of Glory: Dan Tamura vs. Ryo Inoue. 10 minute time limit

Short break for announcements related to upcoming events. In particular a 12/25 event which will feature a mixed 6-person tag match with Maya Yukihi, Mayumi Ozaki, Chihiro Hashimoto & Yuu. Ozaki is one of the oldest active women wrestlers in Japan…and last I heard, at prob well into her 50s she’s still pretty darn hot.

Result: Suwama & KONO beat Kento Miyahara & Takuya Nomura. Suwama pinned Miyahara after a backdrop.

During the event it was announced that the Triple Crown would likely next be defended on 1/3/23. We may have a rematch coming from this.

UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 794.
