Dragon Gate 6/10/23 Results (2 Events) (Updated)

Dragon Gate continued the Rainbow Gate 2023 Tour today with 2 separate events, first a shopping center mini-event then a regular event at a different location.

Event 1:
Today’s event was held at HI Hirose Super Combo Kashima Kamijama Store in Kumamoto. There is/was no broadcast.
The paid attendance has not been announced. This was an outdoor event.

Match 1: Kzy, Jason Lee & Strong Machine J beat KAI, H-Y-O & ISHIN. Kzy pinned H-Y-O after a running elbow smash.

Match 2: YAMATO won an 8 man battle royal, last eliminating Fatta (?) Kobashi by ref stoppage. Apparently there was a Shinsuke Nakamura parody wrestler too.

Main Event: Genki Horiguchi, Shachihoko BOY & U-T beat Masaaki Mochizuki, Susumu Mochizuki & Punch Tominaga. Horiguchi pinned Tominaga with Backslide From Heaven.

Event 2:
Today’s event was held at Imari Kunimidai Gym in Saga. There is/was no broadcast.

The paid attendance has not been announced.

Match 1: Madoka Kikuta & Yuki Yoshioka beat BIGBOSS Shimizu & JACKY “FUNKY” KAMEI. Kikuta pinned KAMEI after a rolling lariat.

Match 5: Ultimo Dragon & Dragon Kid beat Diamante & ISHIN by DQ. Diamante DQ’d. Mask ripping off Dragon. This was Dragon’s first match back since an indefinite suspension was lifted by GM Ryo Saito. Dragon & Diamante are facing off in a 4-way elimination match on 7/2 where the final loser will lose their mask (the other 2 in the match are Shun Skywalker & Strong Machine J. Worth nothing Skywalker wasn’t always masked).

Main Event: Kzy, Jason Lee & Strong Machine J beat Shun Skywalker, KAI & H-Y-O. Kzy pinned H-Y-O after a running elbow smash.

The next event is a doubleheader tomorrow at Acros Fukuoka in Fukuoka. Live streaming on DRAGONGATE NETWORK for both events will begin TONIGHT at 9 PM PT/midnight ET for the first event and tomorrow at 1 AM PT/4 AM ET for the second event. These appear to be the final televised events for June with the next broadcast likely being Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival, their biggest annual event, on 7/2.

UPDATE: For event 2 (Saga), the announced paid attendance was 289.

New Japan 6/10/23 Results

New Japan kicked off the New Japan Road Tour today, their traditional June tour that will build to a special STRONG doubleheader in Tokyo in July this year. Today also featured the announcement of the blocks for this year’s G1 CLIMAX Tournament.

Today’s event was held at Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall 1 in Chiba and can be watched on demand on New Japan World. This was a Samurai! TV broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 684.

Match 1: Kosei Fujita beat Yuto Nakashima.

Match 2: Tomoaki Honma & Togi Makabe beat Boltin Oleg & Oskar Leube. Honma pinned Leube after Kokeshi.

Match 3: Yoh, Ryusuke Taguchi, Toru Yano & YOSHI-HASHI beat Dick Togo, Sho, Yujito Takahashi & EVIL. Yoh pinned Togo after Direct Drive.

Match 4: Francesco Akira, TJP & Aaron Henare beat Gedo, CLark Connors & Drilla Moloney (Dan Moloney). Henare beat Gedo with Ultima.

Match 5: Gabriel Kidd & Alex Coughlin beat Ryohei Oiwa & Hirooki Goto. Kidd pinned Oiwa after a piledriver. Afterwards, Kidd & Coughlin made a double tag title challenge to Goto & YOSHI-HASHI.

The G1 CLIMAX 33 blocks and preliminary matches were announced. With 32 participants it will again be 4 blocks with a traditional round-robin format. See below for the full list of blocks.

Match 6: Master Wato, Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kazuxhika Okada beat Tiger Mask, El Desperado, Ren Narita & Shota Umino. Ishii pinned TM 4 after a vertical drop brainbuster.

Main Event: In an Elimination Match, BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, Yota Tsuji, Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito beat TAKA Michinoku, DOUKI, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Taichi & SANADA. Tsuji was the last man left, last eliminating DOUKI.

All block matches will have a 20 minute time limit. This year the top 2 from each block will advance to the Quarterfinals, where it then shifts to single-elimination format. That makes things more interesting. My initial thoughts are as follows:
Block A: Only SANADA & Owens have prior G1 experience. SANADA has the highest bar as the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion so while he might go far, that all but means he’s not winning it all. Kiyomiya is the wild card as the outsider. Figure SANADA goes through easily, the second spot is a toss-up.
Block B: Okada is the 2-time defending champion and overwhelming favorite to 3-peat. Should be Okada & Ospreay. Okada not 3-peating will be a massive upset.
Block C: There is upset potential here but the clear favorites are EVIL & Takagi. Tonga & Henare are sleepers and Ishii guarantees some near-time-limit hoss fights. Kingston gets to live a personal dream and represent AEW but won’t advance.
Block D: The traditional Death Block. This is the one to watch and is wide open with, on paper, at least 5 having a reasonable chance. I would expect Naito to go through while Cobb has been a beast in the G1 the last couple years and hopefully can do it again. Never count Tanahashi out and same for Goto, also a former G1 winner. Sabre won the New Japan Cup this year which works for and against him. Forget Yano, Coughlin & Haste, they’re not advancing. By process of elimination I see Cobb joining Naito in moving on.

Each day of the tournament will see 2 blocks in action with alternating days, so it will be Blocks A & B at one event, then Blocks C & D at the next event, and so on for the first 12 days. Once we reach Day 13, the next 4 events will have one block with their final matches each day. Day 17 is the Quarterfinals, Day 18 & 19 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo will be the Semifinals and Finals, respectively. The winner of the Finals on 8/13 is going to the main event of Tokyo Dome on 1/4/24 to face the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

The next event is tomorrow at Kamisu Disaster Prevention Center in Ibaraki. There will be no live or on demand broadcast (including tomorrow, no TV or on demand for the next 4 events). The next televised event is next Saturday.

Pro Wrestling NOAH 6/10/23 Results

Pro Wrestling NOAH resumed the never-ending SUNNY VOYAGE 2023 Tour today with a house show in Yokohama, the first official event of Mitsuharu Misawa Memorial Month.

Today’s event was held at Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 310, a legit advance sellout.

There was a last-second change to this event because Junta Miyawaki suffered an injury at yesterday’s ALL TOGETHER AGAIN event. Spinal cord concussion. Out 2 weeks and will miss all of this month’s events (that means he will officially be out a month because after 6/24 the promotion is off until 7/9). Match 2 was changed as a result. It was also announced that Kaito Kiyomiya is off all events from 7/15 until the end of August due to New Japan participation in the annual G1 CLIMAX tournament. This will be the first time Kiyomiya has participated in the tournament. But don’t get too excited about a potential 3rd Kazuchika Okada fight forever…the way the blocks are, it could only happen if both make the Semifinals or Finals. That could also keep him out of this year’s N-1 VICTORY Tournament depending on when it will start. (Update: Kiyomiya will not be in N-1 VICTORY this year because of it)

Match 1: Seiki Yoshioka vs. Eita went to a 15 minute time limit draw.

Match 2: Yoshinari Ogawa & LEONA (Dradition) beat Atsushi Kotoge & Kai Fujimura. LEONA beat Fujimura with a Figure 4.

Match 3: Chris Ridgeway beat Tadasuke by submission.

Match 4: Go Shiozaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima beat Manabu Soya & Hajime Ohara. Nakajima pinned Ohara after Vertical Spike.

DDT 6/10/23 Results

DDT continued the What Are You Doing 2023 Tour today with a house show in Osaka.

Today’s event was held at Suminoe Maikon Hall in Osaka and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 190.

Match 1: In a handicap match, Akito beat Yuki Iino & Danshoku Dieno.

Match 2: Yukio Sakaguchi, Saki Akai & Hideki Okatani beat Sanshiro Takagi, Makoto Oishi & Rukiya. Okatani pinned Rukiya with a Northern Lights suplex hold.

Match 3: Yuki Ueno beat Kazuma Sumi.

Match 4: Tetsuya Endo & Jun Akiyama beat Yusuke Okada & Yuya Koroku. Endo pinned Koroku after a rotating torture rack bomb.

During a break in the action here, the President of Maikon presented Saki Akai with a special Fighting Spirit Award and sponsor prize, a year’s supply of NMN products.

Match 5: Toru Owashi & “brother” YASSHI (Independent/Freelancer) beat Naruki Doi (Independent/Freelancer) & Kazuki Hirata. YASSHI pinned Hirata after Flying Big Head.

Match 6: Daisuke Sasaki & MJ Paul beat MAO & Toi Kojima. Paul pinned Kojima after Death Valley Bomb.

Main Event: Yuji Hino & HARASHIMA beat Kazusada Higuchi & Takeshi Masada. Hino pinned MASADA after Fuckin’ BOMB. The winners also received sponsor prizes, apparently consisting of food gifts.

Impact Wrestling “Against All Odds” Results (6/9/23)

Impact Wrestling’s monthly live event, Against All Odds, is tonight, just 2 weeks after their last live event and kickstarting the build to the Slammiversary PPV in July. They had to do a quick build for tonight with only 2 weeks of TV and it started at-and carries over from-Under Siege with rematches and in particular a women’s dog collar match. A highlight is the first ever 8-4-1 match: It starts as a regular 8-man tag match, but the winning team immediately faces off in a 4-way against each other and the winner there gets the Impact World Championship shot at Slammiversary against the winner of the Steve Maclin-Alex Shelley main event. If Bully Ray has his way and backs up what he’a said on Impact these last 2 weeks it’ll be him, but he has to earn it first.

Today’s event will be held at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, OH and can be watched LIVE on Impact+ (subscription required. $7.99/month or $71.99/year), YouTube (Ultimate Insider subscription required, $4.99/month) and FITE ($9.99, includes unlimited on demand replays). There will also be a FREE pre-show on YouTube and FITE 30 minutes before the event. Due to work schedule conflicts I may not be able to do live results for the pre-show. Including that it will be a standard length PPV with a total runtime of 3 1/2 hours.

Result: Alex Shelley beat Impact World Champion Steve Maclin to become THE NEW IMPACT WORLD CHAMPION! WOW! 20+ YEARS AND HIS TIME HAS FINALLY COME! That means Shelley will defend against Nick Aldis at Slammiversary. MCMG, now the X Division and Impact World Champions, stood tall to end the show.

Final thoughts: WOW, that main event! Outstanding and an incredible last few minutes to cap off another excellent live night of Impact. The worst matches were solid and the best matches were outstanding, the hardcore matches were brutal and fun and there were some surprises with the 8-4-1. I missed the pre-show matches for the most part but the main show again way overachieved, making that $5-10 price tag depending on how you watch an indescribable bargain. If you missed it, get it and watch it.

Overall show grade: A

ALL TOGETHER AGAIN 6/9/23 Results

In 2011, shortly after the devastating earthquake that caused catastrophic destruction in Fukushima Prefecture and other areas of Japan, the Big 3 promotions-New Japan Pro Wrestling, All-Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH-came together for ALL TOGETHER, a joint charity fundraiser effort to support recovery causes. Today, with Japan still struggling to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, they reunited for ALL TOGETHER AGAIN and another joint fundraiser effort for pandemic recovery.

Today’s event was held at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on New Japan World only as a PPV for about $30 US. I expect the PPV window to be 3 months. You can also watch the pre-show FOR FREE on YouTube.

The announced paid attendance was 6569.

Match 3: Shota Umino beat Yoshitatsu.

Match 4: Katsuhiko Nakajima & Go Shiozaki beat Hokuto Omori & Satoshi Kojima. Nakajima pinned Omori after Vertical Spike. Kojima was a late replacement for Shuji Ishikawa (fever).

Match 5: Ren Narita, El Desperado & Minoru Suzuki beat Junta Miyawaki, Takashi Sugiura & Naomichi Marufuji. Desperado pinned Miyawaki after Pinche Loco.

Match 6: Francesco Akira, TJP, Aaron Henare, Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb beat Dan Tamura, Hikaru Sato, Ryuki Honda, Jun & Rei Saito. Alira pinned Tamura after Fireball.

Match 7: Yuma Anzai, Suwama & Yuji Nagata beat BUSHI, Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito. Suwama pinned BUSHI after Last Ride.

Match 8: Tadasuke, YO-HEY & Jake Lee beat TAKA Michinoku, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & SANADA. Lee pinned TAKA after FBS.

Match 9: AMAKUSA, Atsuki Aoyagi & Hiromu Takahashi beat HAYATA, Rising Hayato & Master Wato. Aoyagi pinned Hayato after Firebird Splash.

Main Event: Kenoh, Yuma Aoyagi & Kazuchika Okada beat Kaito Kiyomiya, Kento Miyahara & Hiroshi Tanahashi. Okada pinned Tanahashi after Rainmaker. After the match, Okada invited Antonio Inoki’s grandchildren into the ring to help lead the late New Japan founder’s signature “1…2…3…DA!” shout to close the event.

As all 3 now return to “normal”, next up for New Japan is the New Japan Road ~Road to STRONG~ Tour beginning tomorrow at Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall 1 in Chiba. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at 2:30 AM PT/5:30 AM ET. This will be a Samurai! TV broadcast in Japan.

Injury Report: DDT Double Whammy

On top of Tokyo Joshi Pro losing Yuka Sakazaki for a while, DDT announced today that Yuki Ishida is also now out of action. Fever & gastroenteritis. Ugh. Out indefinitely but will miss both events this weekend. Changes to the lineups have been made.

BREAKING: TJPW Title Vacant, Injury Changes (Updated)

Tokyo Joshi Pro has announced major changes to Sunday’s event and more…The Princess Tag Team Championship is now VACANT. Previous champions Yuka Sakazaki and Mizuki have been forced to vacate the titles due to a Sakazaki injury. Neck. Out indefinitely but it’s going to be at least a month and, as can be the case with neck injuries, possibly much longer. They were supposed to have defended the titles Sunday against Miu Watanabe & Rika Tatsumi. No new plans determined yet. Sakazaki’s 7/8 match vs. Nyla Rose is now off as well. No replacement named yet.

More as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Because of this, what had been the title match 9n 6/11 has been changes to Tatsumi & Watanabe vs. Mizuki in a handicap match. Sakazaki will be at the event to address the fans. Yuki Aino vs. Arisu Endo for the next International Princess Championship shot is now the main event.

Match 1: Chris Bey beat Jaosn Hotch. The Good Hands immediately beat down Bey & Ace Austin afterwards.

Match 3: Impact Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry beat Sheldon Jean in a NON -TITLE match. Squash. Afterwards, Hendry immediately calls out Dirty Dango. Hendry then cues up a bad comedy parody video “featuring” Dango. (Earlier this year he did similar with Matt Cardona aka “Edge’s bitch”. This is similar based on when Dango was Fandango in WWE). Bad in the “so bad it’s funny” sense. After this, Kenny King ambushed Hendry and the beatdown was on but Santino Marella quickly intervened. Jean was left alone in the ring and got the Cobra.

Gisele Shaw promo. She claims she put Jordynne Grace out indefinitely (potential write-off as Grace is a free agent) and calls out Trinity and Deonna Purrazzo for tomorrow.

Match 4: Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champions The Coven (Taylor Wilde & KiLynn King) beat Death Dollz (Courtney Rush & Jessicka) to retain the titles. Wilde pinned Rush.

Steve Maclin interviewed backstage. On cue Bully Ray joins him.

Pre-show footage of Masha Slamovich beating down both women in the pre-show match, including choking one with a chain as a message sent to Killer Kelly ahead of tomorrow’s dog collar match.

Match 5: Impact X Division Champion Trey Miguel beat Bhupinder Gujjar in a NON-TITLE match. Afterwards, Miguel with microphone. He puts himself over ahead of tomorrow’s title rematch against Chris Sabin.

Johnny Swinger interviewed backstage. He says Zicky Dice is going to school to become a referee and help him get to 50 wins and winning titles.

Trinity & Deonna Purrazzo interviewed to promote their Knockouts Title match at Slammiversary in July and tag match against Shaw & Savannah Evans tomorrow.

Main Event: Rich Swann & Moose beat Nick Aldis & Jonathan Gresham. Moose pinned Gresham after a powerbomb. They kept fighting post-match and Heath joined in to send Moose packing, leading to Heath & Aldis going at it and Bully Ray sneaking in to lay out Swann. Then PCO joined the fray to get everyone in tomorrow’s 8-4-1 match into the ring. PCO stood tall alone to end the show.

Next up is Against All Odds tomorrow in Columbus, OH.
