New Japan ran a special Hirooki Goto 20th Anniversary event today in Goto’s hometown, with friends and family in attendance.

Today’s event was held at Tsu City Industrial and Sports Center in Mie. There was no live broadcast. It’s not known if there will be any on demand video.

After the event, Katsuyori Shibata, a high school classmate of Goto, came out to begin the post-event celebration before Goto was joined by his 3 children to close the event, which was considered a great success.

Ganbare Pro 4/22/23 Results (3 Events)

Ganbare Pro ran their monthly house show tripleheader in Tokyo today, this time with only one wrestler-produced event (a Shota 15th Anniversary event) and 2 regular events.

Today’s events were held at Oji Basement MON*STAR in Tokyo and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date. There were no live broadcasts.

Event 1:
The announced paid attendance was 61.

Match 1: Moeka Haruhi beat Yoshiko Hasegawa. This was Haruhi’s first match following her announcement she was stepping away from wrestling to become a living kidney donor for her sister. After the match, Haruhi vowed to return to Ganbare Pro after she is fully recovered (she is a freelancer).

Match 2: In a Grappling Match, Takuya Wada & Takashi Okada beat Shinichiro Katsumura & Sotatsu Nakamura. Wada beat Nakamura.

Match 3: In a Secret Captains Fall Elimination Match (over the top rope rules in effect), Ken Ohka, Takao Soma & YuuRI beat Hartley Jackson, Yumehito Imanari & HARUKAZE. The Captains were Soma & Jackson. Order of elimination: YuuRI & HARUKAZE together, Imanari by Ohka, Ohka by Jackson, Jackson by Soma.

Main Event: Mizuki Watase & Shota beat Keisuke Ishii & Shinichiro Tominaga. Watase pinned Tominaga after Venetian.

Event 2 (Shota 15th Anniversary):
The announced paid attendance was 65.

Tokyo Joshi Pro 4/22/23 Results

Tokyo Joshi Pro returned to Osaka for CLIMB OVER ’23 today, a mid-major event headlined by the very odd couple team of Max The Impaler & Pom Harajuku challenging for the Princess Tag Team Championship. Harajuku got this unusual chance because Heidi Howitzer was unable to return to Japan for this event.

Today’s event was held at Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date (probably Tuesday). There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 335.

Match 1: Shoko Nakajima, Neko Haruna & Kaya Toribami beat Mahiro Kiryu, Wakana Uehara & Toga. Nakajima pinned Uehara with a Northern Lights suplex hold.

Match 2: Raku beat HIMAWARI & Hyper Misao in a 3-way by pinning HIMAWARI.

Match 1: Ryohei Oiwa & Shota Umino beat Oskar Leube & Master Wato. Umino beat Leube with STF.

In the 5/3 developing news, Kazuchika Okada has chosen Tomohiro Ishii has one of bis partners for the NEVER 6 Man Tag Team Title match. The other is TBD. I was thinking Hiroshi Tanahashi but his current injury has that being doubtful (Tanahashi suffered a broken rib Saturday and is out for this tour. Status for 5/3 uncertain but he currently is not on the card).

DDT News: 5/3 Card Changes Announced

DDT has announced changes to the 5/3 major event lineup today, and teen phenom fans will be disappointed: Nick Wayne, a hot teen independent star in the US who is about to turn 18 and then debut in All Elite Wrestling, who was to make his Japan debut on 5/3, is now off. Visa issues. Delays mean he won’t get it in time. He was to have teamed with Takeshi Masada to face Yuki Ueno & Muko (?). Vanvert Jacques, 17, is the replacement.
