Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. You can also watch the first 3 matches FOR FREE on YouTube.

The announced paid attendance was 1491, a super full house/very near sellout. Not quite 100% full as I saw a few empty seats from a photo that Saki Akai posted on her Twitter.

Main Event: KO-D Openweight Champion Yuki Ueno beat HARASHIMA to retain the title. V3 for Ueno.

The next event is Thursday at Ueno Park Outdoor Stage in Tokyo. There will be no live broadcast.

Lots of news/fallout from the event:
Apparently there was a communication error at the venue that led to a pre-match video package not being played before the Ohka-Takagi match. The video was produced by former DDT wrestler/employee Yumehito Imanari and delivered ahead of time, but it didn’t get to the person in charge of video output due to miscommunication by in-house personnel. This was not Imanari’s fault. DDT has apologized to all and will release the entire match with the video included for free on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in the near future.
Next up for MAO: Billie Starkz in a No Rules match. That match will happen on 4/4 in Philadelphia, PA as part of The Collective. That event will stream live only on TrillerTV fka FITE as part of their Triller+ subscription service ($7.99/month or $79.99/year). It will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date.
Next up for Katsumata: Hi69 (HIROKI) from Pro Wrestling NOAH in a Hardcore Match. That match will happen on 4/7.
Next up for Ueno: His next choice for challenger is Akito. That match will happen on 4/26 at Sumida City Gym in Tokyo.
Also set for 4/26: Akiyama/Dieno/Oishi vs. Sasaki/KANON/Paul for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championship and Keigo Nakamura returns from injury.
The first match is set for WRESTLE PETER PAN, DDT’s annual biggest event of the year, on 7/21 at Ryogoku Kokugikan: Whoever is the KO-D Openweight Champion at the time vs. TBA for the title. El Desperado (New Japan) participation has also been announced as well as Konosuke Takeshita participation.
The promotion has announced a special Japan Disabled Wrestling Federation event for 7/7 at Odawa Arena Sub Arena in Kanagawa which will be a charity fundraiser event. Announced participation so far includes Aja Kong, Yoshiaki Yatsu, Kuroshio TOKYO Japan and Naohiro Hoshikawa, who was injured in a 2004 match and is undergoing rehabilitation. Persons with disabilities will be able to attend this event for free.
Finally, the entire field for this year’s KING OF DDT Tournament was announced: Poison Sawada JULIE, Sanshiro Takagi, Danshoku Dieno, HARASHIMA, Shuji Ishikawa, Tetsuya Endo, Daisuke Sasaki, Kazusada Higuchi, Chris Brookes, Yuki Ueno, MAO, Yuki Iino, Yukio Naya, KANON, Daisuke Sasaki, Takeshi Masada, TBA (the D GENERATIONS CUP 202r winner, which gets underway at the next event). This is a single-elimination tournament, no time limit for all matches. Round 1 will be 5/5 at Korakuen, the Quarterfinals will be 5/11 at Yokohama Radiant Hall, after which a drawing will be held to determine the Semifinals pairings. The Semifinals & Finals will be 5/26 at Korakuen.

Claudio Castagnoli beat Lance Archer by DQ. The Righteous interference. Heel beatdown on Castagnoli & Danielson until Shibata made the save.

Kyle O’Reilly beat Bryan Keith.

Will be back in May according to his stablemaster, but he also said this may very well be it for the Yokozuna, as it sounds like retirement will follow and, much to Hakkaku’s dismay, will leave sumo Yokozuna-less unless an Ozeki wins the next 2 tournaments.

UPDATE: Finlay is now off tonight/tomorrow’s event. Not medically cleared. He was to have been in a 10-man tag match. Gedo is the replacement.

Injury Report: Major Changes to Tomorrow’s NOAH Event

Pro Wrestling NOAH has announced a major change to tomorrow’s GREAT VOYAGE 2024 in YOKOHAMA event-Kaito Kiyomiya, who was to have challenged for the GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Championship with Ryohei Oiwa, is now off. Spinal concussion suffered in practice. Out indefinitely. No replacement, which means as a result, VC Tag League runner-ups Saxon Huxley & Timothy Thatcher get the title shot instead.

This means several other changes to the card as well as the match order:
What had been Manabu Soya, Masa Kitamiya & Daiki Inaba vs. Huxley, Thatcher & Shuhei Taniguchi is now Inaba vs. Taniguchi.
Soya & Kitamiya will now face Oiwa in a 3-way.
Instead of 8 matches on the event, there will now be 9 because of the 3-way.

The event will be streamed live on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in English only outside of Japan and ABEMA only in Japan. You can also watch the first 3 matches FOR FREE on YouTube. The event is scheduled do begin tonight at 11 PM PT/2 AM ET.

BREAKING: AEW Star Won’t Die On Everest. Yet…

As most AEW fans know, the plan was for Darby Allin to have his potentially last AEW match this past Wednesday then climb Mt. Everest at the end of the month. That only will half happen. He had his potentially last AEW match but the Everest climb is off for this year because of what happened in said match…he got legit injured. Broken foot. So no Everest until 2025 and no AEW for at least a few months. But Darby Gonna Darby and he’s claiming he’ll do a skateboard trick off his cast as a fundraiser for charity.

Sumo-March 2024 Grand Sumo Tournament Day 6 Results (3/15/24) (Top 2 Tiers) (Updated)

Here are the quick results from today’s Day 6 of the March 2024 Grand Sumo Tournament in Osaka:
Key: M-Maegashira, K-Komusubi, S-Sekiwake, O-Ozeki, Y-Yokozuna, J-Juryo

Makuuchi (top tier:
Daiamami (M16) beat Takarafuji (J1)
Nishikifuji (M14) beat Eoga (M15)
Myogiryu (M15) beat Ryuden (M13)
Takerufuji (M17) beat Churanoumi (M13)
Shonannoumi (M12) beat Endo (M16)
Sadanoumi (M11) beat Kitanowaka (M16)
Ichiyamamoto (M11) beat Hokutofuji (M9)
Onosho (M8) beat Shodai (M10)
Mitakeumi (M10) beat Takayasu (M8)
Tamawashi (M7) beat Kotoshoho (M9)
Gonoyama (M6) beat Midorifuji (M5)
Onosato (M5) beat Meisei (M2)
Atamifuji (M2) beat Asanoyama (M1)
Daieisho (S) beat Ura (M1)
Wakamotoharu (S) beat Nishikigi (K)
Kirishima (O) beat Oho (M3)
Kotonowaka (O) beat Abi (K)
Takakeisho (O) beat Hiradoumi (M4)
Tobizaru (M4) beat Hosboryu (O)
Takanosho (M3) beat Terunofuji (Y). KINBOSHI!!! The second career Gold Star Victory for Takanosho!
Leader: Takerufuji, Onosato (6-0)
Of note: This may be it for Terunofuji for March. The knees are gone, or that’s what NHK World Japan’s English daily highlights program led us to believe. 3 straight Kinboshi are good for all but Yokozuna but clearly #10 will have to wait. If Terunofuji continues, he would face Tobizaru tomorrow. The Flying Monkey beat the Yokozuna in July but Terunofuji won their last match in January. If he’s done, 2-13 for March (technically 2-5-8).

Juryo:
Akua (J13) beat Chiyosakae (J14)
Kitaharima (J14) beat Kotoeko (J12)
Shiden (J10) beat Tsushimanada (J12)
Wakatakakage (J10) beat Hakuoho (J13)
Shimanoumi (J9) beat Oshoumi (J11)
Tamashoho (J9) beat Aoiyama (J11)
Shishi (J8) beat Hidenoumi (J7)
Asakoryu (J8) beat Hakuyozan (J6)
Daishoho (J7) beat Chiyoshoma (J6)
Bushozan (J5) beat Shirokuma (J5)
Tohkuryu (J2) beat Oshoma (J4)
Mitoryu (J2) beat Kagayaki (J4)
Tokihayate (J1) beat Tomokaze (J3)
Leader: Wakatakakage, Asakoryu (6-0)
Of note: That’ll pretty much do it for chances of Hakuoho returning to the top tier in May. He has now lost 3 straight since a 3-0 start. The lead is quickly becoming between Wakatakakage & Asakoryu, only Shiden is within one now at 5-1.

Tomorrow starts the traditional Promotion Day in the lower 4 tiers, where the leaders will be 4-0 and clinch promotions over the next 2 days.

UPDATE: Nikkan Sports reports Terunofuji has WITHDRAWN for Day 7. Unspecified as to exactly why yet. If true, Tobizaru gets a free win but no Kinboshi.

Injury Report: Can’t Be A Skywalker Like This

Another injury…this time in Dragon Gate as they report Shun Skywalker is grounded for now. Knee. Out indefinitely and off tomorrow’s event in Okayama as a result. He was to have faced Shachihoko BOY. ISHIN is the replacement. If he misses any further time it could jeopardize their Rey De Parejas spot.

More as it becomes available.

Tokyo Joshi Pro 3/16/24 Results

Tokyo Joshi Pro continues their spring house show tour today with an event in Yokohama. While there is one more event after this before GRAND PRINCESS ’24, this essentially will be the final build for the biggest event of the year as the next event is a separate standalone crossover with Ganbare Women. So today is the last time Moyu Yamashita & Miu Watanabe will be on opposite teams before their 3/31 main event, same for Yuki Aino and Suzume & Arisu Endo (no Ryo Mizunami today. Also no Yuki Arai). It also begins the road to the end of Nao Kakuta’s career as she announced earlier this week she will retire in July to focus on other activities.

There were unannounced last-minute changes for today’s event due to no Hyper Misao. Acute back pain. Status uncertain for 3/31.

Today’s event will be held at Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. This looks like a standard quick-paced house show and should have a total running time of just under 2 hours, even with the presumptive main event likely to go the full 20 minutes, but roughly 2 hours tops.

Today’s lineup:
Rika Tatsumi vs. Mahiro Kiryu & Uta Takami in a 3-way
Kaya Toribami vs. Kira Summer
Maki Itoh & Shino Suzuki vs. Moka Miyamoto & Chika Nanase
Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku vs. Suzume, Arisu Endo & HIMAWARI
Wakana Uehara & Toga vs. Haru Kazashiro & Runa Okubo
Miyu Yamashita, Mizuki & Shoko Nakajima vs. Miu Watanabe, Yuki Kamifuku & Nao Kakuta

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 8 PM PT/11 PM ET.

7:58 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now…

We are LIVE from Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama, Japan. There is no commentary.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Looks like a good crowd so far as the closest seats to the ring are all sold out and sounds good too. Not sure if a sellout or not but I’m thinking 275-300. A legit full capacity sellout would maybe be 350-375. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 277, a legit sellout. So closer to 75% capacity)

The matches should begin in 10-15 minutes. Hard camera only view with the position such that the ropes slightly obstruct view. They had very few announcements and quickly went to Up Up Girls so we’ll be starting matches by 8:10 PM PT.

The matches begin at 8:10 PM PT/11:10 PM PT.

Match 1: Kaya Toribami vs. Kira Summer. 15 minute time limit
Result: Kaya Toribami beat Kira Summer by submission

Match 4: Maki Itoh & Shino Suzuki vs. Moka Miyamoto & Chika Nanase. 20 minute time limit

Quick break for ring repairs/maintenance. Only about a minute or so.

Match 5: Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku vs. Suzume, Arisu Endo & HIMAWARI. 20 minute time limit
Result: Yuki AIno, Raku & Pom Harajuku beat Suzume, Arisu Endo & HIMAWARI. Aino pinned Suzume after UBV. Final shots fired before thee Princess Tag Team Championship match at GRAND PRINCESS ’24 and they favor the champs.

Main Event: Miyu Yamashita, Mizuki & Shoko Nakajima vs. Miu Watanabe, Yuki Kamifuku & Nao Kakuta. 20 minute time limit
Result: Miyu Yamashita, Mizuki & Shoko Nakajima beat Miu Watanabe, Yuki Kamifuku & Nao Kakuta. Yamashita pinned Kakuta after Skull Kick. Yamashita immediately posed & taunted Watanabe afterwards. 15 days to go. It’s all over but the shouting and, presumably, final pre-event press conference. On to their biggest event of the year! But first…

The next event is 3/22 at Ueno Park Outdoor Stage in Tokyo for a crossover event with Ganbare Women. There will be no live broadcast.
