WITHDRAWALS: Tobizaru (M7), Takerufuji (M6). Tobizaru-right elbow. Tournament over. Out 4 weeks. Takerufuji-right arm. Tournament likely over. Both will be demoted but stay in the top tier. Takerufuji for sure as he’ll finish the equivalent of 5-10, Tobinaru should but he’ll be equal to 3-12. For the former, Churanoumi got the fusen-and promotion-as a result. For the latter, Fujinokawa got the fusen and also promotion in his top tier debut.
Of note: Onosato’s 3-peat championship bid is now all but over as his 4th Kinboshi yielded drops him to 9-4. And the title race seems down to 4 with only Atamifuji & Kusano now one off the pace. A big potential eliminator tomorrow highlights the action as Aonishiki, with promotion to Sanyaku in September now secure, faces Kusano. Kotoshoho has Kirishima, who now can’t be promoted to Ozeki. At least Onosato doesn’t have to worry about Kinboshi tomorrow as his opponent is Wakatakakage. Atamifuji will face Takayasu, who will stay at least at Komusubi again in September but this time he’s earned it with a winning record. Also of note yesterday-Shishi got demotion secured in perhaps the worst way possible…HANSOKU!!! Disqualified for hair/topknot grabbing when he beat Midorifuji, which also clinched promotion for the latter-who, interestingly, is katasukashi-less so far this tournament. There have been 2 DQ’s so far this tournament, earlier there was one in the Sandanme. But since I can’t easily find video of those matches I can’t find out how/why.

RE-ENTRY: Nishikifuji (J9). Will return tomorrow. Missed the last 3 days for unknown reasons, which came at the worst time because when he withdrew he was then 8-2 and tied for the lead. But at least he already clinched promotion.

Makushita:
Asahakuryu (Ms3) beat Yago (Ms40). ASAHAKURYU MAKUSHITA YUSHO!!! 2nd career championship and first Makushita championship. And to make it better, it will earn him promotion to Juryo in September for the first time.

Sandanme:
Kobayashi (Sd42) beat Mineyaiba (Sd15). KOBAYASHI SANDANME YUSHO!!! 1st career championship. He will be promoted to Makushita.

Jonidan:
Gonowaka (Jd98) beat Kaki (Jk21)
Tatsuosho (Jd47) beat Kazuma (Jd5). PLAYOFF!!! That means Gonowaka vs. Tatsuosho on the Final Day for the championship.

Jonokuchi:
Yabukasagi (Jk20) beat Naniwamusashi (Jk16)
Kyoda (Jk3) beat Kakusho (Jk13). And because Kaki lost in the Jonidan…PLAYOFF!!! And a 3-way playoff! Had Kaki won he would have been champion.

Other lower tier notes: Asanoyama will also be promoted back to Juryo as he clinched promotion with now a 4-2 record. Ishizaki, who just missed out on promotion in May, also has a chance as he is 5-1 at Ms2. He probably is going up but a win tomorrow in Juryo against Miyanokaze seals it. Kyokukaiyu also will be promoted to Juryo as he is 4-2 at Ms1. There will be at least 3 Juryo demotions to make room and could still be as many as 6.

Reminder: NHK World Japan will have 50 minutes of LIVE top tier coverage FOR FREE tomorrow at 1:10 AM PT/4:10 AM ET.

UPDATE: While not yet officially announced, Nikkan Sports reports Ura has WITHDRAWN ahead of Day 14. Hip. Midorifuji will get the fusen as a result. If Ura can’t return for the Final Day he will finish the equivalent of 8-7, still good enough for a promotion.

UPDATE 2: Ura withdrawal is now official.

All-Japan continued the Summer Action series 2025 today in Tokyo.

Today’s event was held at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on AJPW.TV.

The announced paid attendance was 339, a legit sellout.

Match 1: Jun & Rei Saito, Hideki Suzuki & Dan Tamura beat Kento Miyahara, Yuma Aoyagi, Shotaro Ashino & Rising Hayato. Suzuki beat Aoyagi with a sleeper hold.

Match 2: Ryuki Honda & Ren Ayabe beat Hokuto Omori & Talos. Ayabe pinned Omori after Des Roulette.

Zennichi Jr. Festival:
Match 3: Block A: Seigo Tachibana beat Hikaru Sato.

Stardom ran another midweek Tokyo event today to finish up the build to the 5STAR GP.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand FOR FREE on YouTube.

Pre-show match: Aya Sakura beat Kikyo Furusawa by submission.

Match 1: Suzu Suzuki, Rina Yamashita, Itsuki Aoki & Akira Kurogame beat Waka Tsukiyama, HANAKO, Rian & Ema Maishima. Aoki pinned Rian after a frog splash.

Match 2: Hazuki & Koguma beat Saki Kashima & Lady C and Momo Kohgo & Yuria Hime in a 3-way when Koguma pinned Hime.

Match 3: Kantan Vinegar Turtle Kid (Starlight Kid) & Miyu Amasaki beat Azusa Inaba & Vinegar Fukigen. Kid pinned Fukigen.

Match 4: Natsupoi, Saori Anou, Yuna Mizumori & Sayaka Kurara beat Ami Sohrei, Hina, Tomoka Inaba & Ranna Yagami. Anoi pinned Sohrei.

Match 5: In a 3 Falls Match, High Speed Champion Mei Seira beat Honoka 2-0 to retain the title. V6 for Seira.

Match 6: Saya Kamitani, Momo Watanabe & Konami beat Sareee (Independent/Freelancer), ChiChi & Miku Ye (?). Konami pinned Miku after Triangle Lancer.

Match 7: STRONG Women’s Champion AZM beat Bozilla to retain the title.V1 for AZM.

Main Event: Natsuko Tora & Ruaka beat Goddesses Of Stardom Champions Hanan & Saya Iida to win the titles. Tora & Ruaka become the 36th Goddesses Of Stardom Champions. Ruaka pinned Hanan with a Dharma German suplex hold.

The next event is the 5STAR GP Tournament, the promotion’s annual single tournament, starting Sunday at Ota City General Gym. Live streaming as a PPV on Stardom World will begin midnight PT/3 AM ET. It is expected to be available for all monthly paying subscribers without additional purchase on or after 8/1.

Injury Report: NO-HEY

Pro Wrestling NOAH has announced a somewhat significant injury change to upcoming events-significant because it’s current GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion YO-HEY. Left orbital floor fracture (eye). Out indefinitely but at least several weeks. He was to have defended the title against Hiromu Takahashi on 8/11. That match has been POSTPONED. It’s not yet known how long YO-HEY will be out. Takahashi will still participate on the 8/11 event.

New Japan 7/23/25 Results

New Japan ran Day 4 of the G1 CLIMAX 35 today, the first solo day for Block B.

Today’s event was held at Aore Nagaoka in Niigata and can be watched on demand on New Japan World.

The announced paid attendance was 1547.

There was a late change to the card due to Gabriel Kidd still being out with injury. He was to have faced Shingo Takagi in a Block B match. Takagi gets a free win instead. At this time Kidd is still on the card for his next scheduled match, which is Saturday against Drilla Moloney.

Match 1: Toru Yano & Boltin Oleg beat Yoshinobu Kanemaru & SANADA. Yano pinned Kanemaru.

Match 2: Jacob Austin Young & Callum Newman beat Shoma Kato & Yuya Uemura. Young pinned Kato after Jacobs Ladder.

Heroic Legend Rei-ZERO Vol. 7, the latest in Dragon Gate’s series of off-beat events focusing on cross-promotional matches, was held today.

Today’s event was held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on DRAGONGATE NETWORK.

The paid attendance has not yet been announced. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 237)

Match 1: Daga & Owadasan (Pro Wrestling NOAH) beat Masaaki Mochiuki & Punch Tominaga. Daga beat Tominaga with a sharpshooter.

Match 2: Munetatsu Nakamura & Mizuki Watase (Ganbare Pro) beat Daiki Yanagiuchi & Akihiro Sahara. Watase pinned Yanagiuchi after Bear Elbow.

Match 3: Riiita & Mochizuki Junior beat Munenori Sawa & Fuminori Abe. Riiita pinned Sawa after Riiitanic.

New Japan ran Day 3 of the G1 CLIMAX 35 today, with only Block A matches today.

Today’s event was held at Sendai Sun Plaza in Sendai and can be watched on demand on New Japan World. This was also a live Samurai! TV broadcast in Japan.

The announced paid attendance was 1714.

There was a last-minute change to the event as one non-tournament match was cancelled due to Gabriel Kidd being out with injury (hyperextended knee). For now it looks like he’s off the next event as well meaning he’ll miss another G1 match.

Match 1: Taiji Ishimori & Drilla Moloney beat Shoma Kato & YOSHI-HASHI. Ishimori beat Kato with Bone Lock.

Match 2: Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Ren Narita beat Jado & El Phantasmo. Kanemaru beat Jado with a figure 4.

Match 3: Rocky Romero & Konosuke Takeshita beat Jacob Austin Young & Great-O-Khan. Romero pinned Young.

STARDOM SAPPORO RENDEZVOUS 2025, Stardom’s monthly major/blowout event, was held today.

The announced paid attendance was 1056.

Match 1: Rian beat Ema Maishima.

Match 2: Future Of Stardom Champion Hina beat Sayaka Kurara to retain the title. V5 for Hina. If she keeps this up she could make a run at the defense record held by…little sister Rina. Imagine that! Long way to go though.

Match 3: Yuria Hime beat Akira Kurogame. As a result, Hime gets into the 5STAR GP.

Match 4: Suzu Suzuki, Rina Yamashita & Bozilla beat AZM, Miyu Amasaki & Mei Seira. Bozilla pinned Amasaki after a piledriver.

Match 5: Ami Sohrei & Lady C beat Hazuki & Koguma, Yuna Mizumori & Aya Sakura and Waka Tsukiyama & HANAKO in a 4-way when Sohrei pinned Koguma.

Match 6: Hanan, Saya Iida, Momo Kohgo & Kikyo Furusawa beat Natsuko Tora, Ruaka, Momo Watanabe & Konami. Hanan pinned Ruaka after 17.

Match 7: Wonder Of Stardom Champion Starlight Kid beat Saori Anou to retain the title. V5 for Kid.

Main Event: World Of Stardom Champion Saya Kamitani beat Natsupoi to retain the title. V4 for Kamitani. Another of those pesky Cosmic Angels fails, and deservedly so, to dethrone our PHENEX QUEEN. Embrace the H.A.T.E.
