DDT Pro Wrestling “D KING GP 2022 THE FINAL” Results (12/4/22)

DDT wraps up the D KING GP 2022 today with the Finals, which will determine who gets the next shot at KO-D Openweight Champion Kazusada Higuchi. Based on the field and how things looked earlier in the tournament, the result will definitely be an upset as much like the KING OF DDT Tournament earlier this year, it’s a very unexpected final as this time Yuki Ueno & Yukio Naya are the finalists. There also is an unusual semifinal as DDT Extreme Champion Joey Janela defends against Jun Akiyama in a TLC (Tables, Ladders, Chairs) match. Last I checked, Akiyama is not exactly a Hardy Boys or Edge/Christian type…and he’s 51 with 30 years of wear & tear on his body…this along with all the other unpredictability and comedy that DDT is known for. Pro Wrestling NOAH mainstay Kotaro Suzuki will also make an appearance.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. Guest commentators scheduled are Kenta Kobashi, voice actor Mayu Iizuka and singer Maon Kurasaki. Vocal cheering by fans will be allowed. Based on the lineup I anticipate tonight’s event having a total running time of close to 3 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Yuki Iino & Danshoku Dieno vs. Akito & Antonio Honda
Takao Soma, Hideki Okatani & Hikaru Machida vs. Yuya Koroku, Yuki Ishida & Takeshi Masada
Tetsuya Endo, Kotaro Suzuki (Pro Wrestling NOAH) & Yusuke Okada vs. MAO, Shunma Katsumata & Toui Kojima
Naruki Doi, Toru Owashi & Kazuki Hirata vs. HARASHIMA, Yukio Sakaguchi & Kazuma Sumi
Kazusada Higuchi, Yuji Hino, Chris Brookes & Rickey Shane Page vs. Daisuke Sasaki, Minoru Fujita, MJ Pawl & KANON
DDT Extreme Champion Joey Janela vs. Jun Akiyama in a TLC Match for the title
D KING GP 2022 Finals: Yuki Ueno vs. Yukio Naya

Updates below will begin at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT.

9 PM ET UPDATE: Live updates begin now…

The stream has just launched. The live broadcast will begin in 10 minutes.

9:10 PM ET UPDATE: Live broadcast begins now.
We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata, Kagehiro Osano, Mayu Iizuka & Maon Kurosaki.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Vocal cheering allowed means a cap of roughly 700 and most sections were sold out earlier today or close to it. Based on that, it’s probably going to be in the 625-650 range but same-day could get it to a sellout.

No pre-show matches as they just confirmed the lineup so the matches should begin in about 30 minutes (around 9:40 PM ET/6:40 PM PT).

At 9:15 PM ET GM Imabayashi enters the ring to begin the opening announcements/housekeeping. The first matches for the Danshoku Dieno 20th Anniversary Event on 12/21 at Korakuen are announced: Yuki Iino vs. Yumehito Imanari (those deplorable Pheromons facing each other!) and, in his 20th Anniversary Match, Danshoku Dieno vs. Muscle Sakai. Dieno is then brought out although he makes Imabayashi call him a few times. Then they announce Natuki Doi vs Shunma Katsumata for 12/21 and then Tanomusaku Toba, Kazusada Higuchi & Yuki Ishida vs. Jun Akiyama, Tetsuya Endo & DJ Nira.

We then turn to tonight’s main event and thus…GRAND SWORD! D KING GP 2022 Chairman Kenta Kobashi comes out to audible cheers from the still-filing-in crowd. He leads the opening shout to start the event, leading into the opening video at scheduled start time.

The matches begin at 9:35 PM ET. Your new host is Ken Kato replacing Haruo Murata.

Match 2: Yuki Iino & Danshoku Dieno vs. Akito & Antonio Honda. 30 minute time limit
Result: This became a World Cup-themed comedy match with 1-count pinfalls counting as “goals”. Yumehito Inanari even substituted in for Dieno. Draw. 2-2. They did a soccer shootout as a tiebreaker, Pheromons won 3-2 to win.

A YouTube broadcast of the first 2 matches ends here. Your host is Haruo Murata once again.

Afterwards, Endo, Suzuki & Yusuke Okada came out to make a challenge for the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championship. After come comedic bantering between Doi & GM Imabayashi, it’s made official. That match will happen on 12/29 at Tokyo Dome City Hall.

Match 5: DDT Extreme Champion Joey Janela vs. Jun Akiyama in a TLC Match for the title. No Countouts. Only win by pinfall, submission or KO. 1 Hour time limit
Result: Jun Akiyama beat DDT Extreme Champion Joey Janela to win the title. Akiyama becomes the 56th DDT Extreme Champion. Daaaaaaaamn! Next up: Super Sasadango Machine is back…although Akiyama immediately left but stopped just before exiting to the backstage area and returned to the ring. This quickly became a comedy segment with the masked comedy wrestler. As Akiyama walks off again, GM Imabayashi makes it official for 12/29.

Match 6: Kazusada Higuchi, Yuji Hino, Chris Brookes & Rickey Shane Page vs. Daisuke Sasaki, Minoru Fujita, MJ Pawl & KANON. 30 minute time limit
Result: Kazusada Higuchi, Yuji Hino, Chris Brookes & Rickey Shane Page beat Daosuke Sasaki, Minoru Fujita, MJ Pawl& KANON. Higuchi pinned Pawl.

Main Event: D KING GP 2022 Finals: Yuki Ueno vs. Yukio Naya. No time limit
Result: Yuki Ueno beat Yukio Naya to win the tournament. As a result, Ueno will face KO-D Openweight Champion Kazusada Higuchi for the title on 12/29, and as the current DDT Universal Champion could become a double titleholder.

The next event is NEXTBODY presents STERNNESS 30th Anniversary Vol. 2, the second Jun Akiyama 30th Anniversary event, Saturday at Izumi City Plaza Yayoi No Kaze Hall in Osaka, after which 3 lucky fans who shelled out 50,000 yen get to go out for dinner and a drink with Akiyama himself. There will be no live broadcast. At the end of the broadcast the guest lineup for commentary on 12/29 was revealed, to include Kobashi, Kurasaki and SKE48 member Marika Tani.

BREAKING: KOPW 2022 12/19 Stip Revealed

New Japan just announced the results of fan voting on Twitter for the stip for the next KOPW 2022 Trophy Match on 12/19 at the TakaTaichi PPV…and it was close. In the end, champion Shingo Takagi’s stip won so it will be a Takagi-style Last Man Standing Lumberjack Death Match. The only way to win is pinfall followed immediately by the downed opponent being unable to answer a followup 10 count. Taichi’s proposal of a 30 minute high score match actually won the English Twitter vote, but Takagi has a big enough margin on the Japanese Twitter vote to win.

The final combined total was 14,830 votes for Takagi to 13,694 votes for Taichi.

The 12/19 event will be at Yoyogi National Stadium Gym 2 in Tokyo and will be a standalone PPV on New Japan World.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 12/3/22 Results

Tokyo Joshi Pro continues the Fall ’22 house show tour today with a midday matinee event. The build should begin to the next Princess Of Princess Championship match, which should be another epic match between Yuka Sakazaki & Miyu Yamashita, undoubtedly the top two stars of TJPW, but also more international focus as Millie McKenzie will make another appearance before returning to England, and Yamashita will follow in January as she returns to Pro Wrestling EVE to defend the EVE Championship. Also expected back today is Raku after she lost her Princess Tag Team Championship chance last week because of coronavirus, but no Nao Kakuta again as she will miss the event due to her stage performance schedule.

Today’s event will be held at Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. If you have not taken advantage of the 2-week free trial for first-time subscribers, THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE! The offer ends after this weekend. The cost has gone up a bit since last month but is still a bargain at around $6.50 US/month. With 6 matches today and half being single matches, this will be another short event, I anticipate the entire event running just under 2 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Mizuki vs. Neko Haruna
Rika Tatsumi vs. Pom Harajuku
Miu Watanabe vs. Mahiro Kiryu
Yuki Kamifuku & Millie McKenzie vs. Shoko Nakajima & Suzume
Yuki Aino & Raku vs. Hyper Misao & Kaya Toribami
Yuka Sakazaki, Hikari Noa & Arisu Endo vs. Miyu Yamashita, Maki Itoh & Moka Miyamoto

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT.

9:58 PM ET UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama, Japan. There is no commentary.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event concludes, but there’s no vocal cheering so potentially full capacity, I’m going to guess it’ll be around 200 as the visible seating around the ring looks completely full (only about 2 rows).

The matches should begin in about 10 minutes.

The matches begin at 10:11 PM ET. Looks like it’s hard camera view only today (it’s a very small venue).

Match 1: Mizuki vs. Neko Haruna. 15 minute time limit
Result: Mizuki beat Neko Haruna

Match 2: Yuki Aino & Raku vs. Hyper Misao & Kaya Toribami. 20 minute time limit
Result: Yuki Aino & Raku beat Hyper Misao & Kaya Toribami. Raku pinned Toribami after Doctor Yellow.

Match 3: Rika Tatsumi vs. Pom Harajuku. 15 minute time limit
Result: Rika Tatsumi beat Pom Harajuku

Match 4: Miu Watanabe vs. Mahiro Kiryu. 15 minute time limit
Result: Miu Watanabe beat Mahiro Kiryu

Match 5: Yuki Kamifuku & Millie McKenzie vs. Shoko Nakajima & Suzume. 20 minute time limit
Result; Yuki Kamifuku & Millie McKenzie beat Shoko Nakajima & Suzume. McKenzie pinned Suzume after a release German suplex. Afterwards, McKenzie stayed in the ring for a few extra moments to show appreciation to the fans as this is her last appearance in TJPW for now before returning to England.

Main Event: Yuka Sakazaki, Hikari Noa & Arisu Endo vs. Miyu Yamashita, Maki Itoh & Moka Miyamoto. 20 minute time limit
Result: Miyu Yamashita, Maki Itoh & Moka Miyamoto beat Yuka Sakazaki, Hikari Noa & Arisu Endo. Yamashita pinned Endo after Attitude Adjustment. During the live broadcast of this match there were technical issues that began to emerge during intros, once the match began I noticed the audio was notably off-sync with and was behind the video by a good 2-3 seconds. Hopefully this will be resolved soon but it might result in the event video, or at least the main event, being taken down for a time to fix.

This event went faster than expected at just 1 hour, 45 minutes.

The next event is 12/10 at Hamamatsu City Entetsu Hall in Shizuoka for a CITY CIRCUIT event. Already announced is EVE Champion Miyu Yamashita vs. “The Unbreakable” Rio for the title. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin on 12/9 at 11 PM ET/8 PM PT.

UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 210, a super full house/very near sellout.

UPDATE 2: TJPW and WRESTLE UNIVERSE have confirmed the technical difficulties with today’s live broadcast and the video has been removed and is not available on demand. A resolved version will be uploaded at a later date.

New Japan 12/2/22 Results

New Japan continued the Super Jr. Tag League & World Tag League today with both tournaments running together. There was a change to the World Tag League as Chase Owens & Bad Luck Fale have withdrawn from the tournament because Owens had to return home to the USA due to a death in his family. Their remaining opponents get forfeit wins as a result.

Today’s event was held at Osaka Central Gym Sub Arena in Osaka and can be watched on demand on New Japan World.

The announced paid attendance was 945.

The matches today alternated between both tournaments so the results are grouped together instead of in match order.

Super Jr. Tag League:
DOUKI & Yoshinobu Kanemaru beat Kevin Knight & KUSHIDA. Kanemaru pinned Knight after Touch Out.
Dick Togo & Sho beat Lio Rush & Yoh. Sho pinned Yoh after Shock Arrow. This lasted just 18 seconds.
Chris Bey & Ace Austin beat Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask. Austin pinned TM 4 after The Fold.
El Lindaman & Alex Zayne beat Titan & BUSHI. Zayne pinned BUSHI after Taco Driver.
Francesco Akira & TJP beat Clark Connors & Ryusuke Taguchi. TJP pinned Connors after 2/2.

World Tag League:
Toru Yano & Hiroshi Tanahashi beat Gabriel Kidd & Alex Coughlin. Tanahashi pinned Kidd after High Fly Flow.
Aaron Henare & Great-O-Khan beat Yujiro Takahashi & EVIL. Henare pinned Takahashi after Streets Of Rage.
Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls beat Lance Archer & Minoru Suzuki. Nicholls pinned Suzuki. This lasted just 100 seconds.
SANADA & Tetsuya Naito beat Aussie Open. Naito pinned Kyle Fletcher after Destino.
YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto beat Chase Owens & Bad Luck Fale by forfeit (withdrawal).

The Super Jr. Tag League now has 3 tied for the lead at 5-1, 10 pts: Akira/TJP, Austin/Bey. Zayne/Lindaman. The World Tag League has 2 tied for the lead at 5-1, 10 pts: Aussie Open and Haste/Nicholls (both had not faced Owens/Fale yet so they get the free win). Yujiro/EVIL and Kidd/Connors are now OUT assuming the leader at the end wins.

The next event is tomorrow at Kakogawa City Gym in Hyogo with the World Tag League. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at midnight PT/3 AM ET.
