New Japan 4/2/23 Results

New Japan continued the Road to SAKURA GENESIS Tour today with an event headlined by a KOPW 2023 Title match. Breaking from tradition, there was no fan vote on a stip, instead it was an Ultimate Triad Match, where one man had to get a pinfall, submission AND KO in the match to win.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on New Japan World.

The announced paid attendance was 1298, a super full house/very near sellout. (It sounds like Korakuen is keeping capacity reduced by designating some seating as social distanced with no vocal cheering allowed)

Match 2: BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito beat Gedo, Taiji Ishimori & El Phantasmo. BUSHI pinned Gedo after MX.

No post-match promo from Takagi in a break from custom (in Japan, the main event winners just about always cut a post-match promo to end events).

The next event is tomorrow. The main event will be a NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Championship match between champions Ren Narita, El Desperado & MInoru Suzuki and Sho, Yujiro Takahashi & EVIL. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at 2:30 AM PT/5:30 AM ET. This will be a Samurai! TV broadcast. This is the final televised event of the tour (no live or on demand broadcast for the final two events).

Ganbare Pro Wrestling “Ganbare Joshi Re-Launch” Results (4/1/23) (Updated)

Ganbare Pro re-launches their Ganbare Joshi sub-label today with a small debut event featuring 4 matches. The launch is somewhat muted by the absence of top star Yuna Manase, who is out long-term due to injuries, but she may be in attendance and her younger sister Ami will debut as part of today’s event. There will also be a short exhibition match and a match provided by Chocolate Pro Wrestling (All Elite Wrestling star Emi Sakura’s currently owned promotion. The other handful of Ganbare regulars will be part of the event too except for HARUKAZE as will be former Tokyo Joshi Pro star Marika Kobashi, who has been working mainly as a freelancer since returning from a post-TJPW hiatus.

Today’s event will be held at Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There likely will be no commentary. With only 4 matches and one being a quick exhibition match this will be a very short event and an easy watch, I anticipate the event’s running time will only be about an hour. Even if all the matches go the distance it’ll be over in well under 2 hours. (Including the post-main event promo it wound up running about 80 minutes)

Today’s lineup (in order):
Exhibition Match (5 Minutes): Reala vs. Moeka Haruhi
Chocolate Pro Wrestling Provided Match: Sayaka Obihiro vs. Chie Koishikawa
Ami Manase & Moeka Haruhi vs. Echika Miyabi & Marika Kobashi
YuuRI vs. Yoshiko Hasegawa

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 11:30 PM ET/8:30 PM PT. The live stream is scheduled to launch 30 minutes before event time.

11:30 PM ET UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama, Japan. There is no commentary.

Match 1: Exhibition Match: Reala vs. Moeka Haruhi. 5 minute time limit
Result: While there is no winner or loser because it was an exhibition match, Moeka Haruhi technically won with one submission.

Yuna Manase comes out to address the crowd. She’s walking with one crutch as she recovers from injury. She announced she has been named Ganbare Manager.

Match 2: Chocolate Pro Wrestling Provided Match: Sayaka Obihiro vs. Chie Koishikawa. 30 minute time limit

Match 3: Ami Manase Debut Match: Ami Manase & Moeka Haruhi vs. Echika Miyabi & Marika Kobashi. 30 minute time limit
Result: Ami Manase & Moeka Haruhi beat Echika Miyabi & Marika Kobashi. Manase pinned Miyabi after a diving senton.

Quick break for ring cleaning. Brief minor stream issues here but only for a few seconds. Winds up stretching to just over 5 minutes for ring repairs/maintenance.

Result: YuuRI beat Yoshiko Hasegawa
