Pro Wrestling NOAH continued the SUBNY VOYAGE 2023 Your today with the start of a 4-day trip through northern Japan for daily house shows.

Today’s event was held at Akita Selion Plaza in Akita and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE Monday at 2 AM PT/5 AM ET. There was no live broadcast.

The announced pid attendance was 246.

Match 1: Mohammed Yone & Akitoshi Saito beat Kinya Okada & Taishi Ozawa. Saito pinned Ozawa after Iron Claw Slam.

Match 2: Yoshiki Inamura beat Yasutaka Yano.

Match 3: Hajime Ohara & Hi69 beat Atsushi Kotoge & Seiki Yoshioka. Hi69 pinned Kotoge after Stuka Splash.

Match 4: Kaito Kiyomiya, Masa Kitamiya & Daiki Inaba beat Naomichi Marufuji, Takashi Sugiura & Shuhei Taniguchi. Kitamiya pinned Taniguchi after Saito Suplex.

Match 5: AMAKUSA, Ninja Mack & Alejandro beat Lancelot, Super Crazy & Extreme Tiger. AMAKUSA pinned Crazy.

Match 6: Manabu Soya vs. Saxon Huxley went to a double countout.

Match 7: Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., Yoshinari Ogawa & HAYATA beat Jack Morris, YO-HEY & Tadasuke. Wagner pinned Morris after La Serviente Azteca.

Main Event: Kenoh & Katsuhiko Nakajima beat Jake Lee & Anthony Greene. Nakajima pinned Greene after Vertical Spike.

The next event is tomorrow at Morioka Gym in Iwate. There will be no live broadcast.

BREAKING: Impact World Champion Out, Title Vacant (Updated)

Breaking news from this morning’s edition of “Busted Open”: The Impact World Championship is now VACANT because Josh Alexander is injured and out of action. Torn triceps. He was to have defended the title against KUSHIDA on 3/30 and Steve Maclin on 4/16 at Rebellion. Maclin replaced Alexander in a 6-man tag at Sacrifice tonight. He was the longest-reigning Impact World Champion in history.

UPDATE: Impact has announced Maclin vs. KUSHIDA for the vacant Impact World Championship at Rebellion. Replacement for Alexander at Muktiverse United is TBA.

Of note: UPSET ALERT! For the first time since his comeback last year, Asanoyama will finish a tournament with more than one loss as Oho pulled off the big upset and possibly handed the Juryo championship to Ichinojo. And Midorifuji may be letting the Emperor’s Cup slip away, he’s now lost 2 in a row since his 10-2 start and his 2 win lead is gone. Daieisho has now pulled even and may now be the favorite to win his second top tier title, but most of Sanyaku is now one back with Kiribayama, Kotonowaka & Wakamotoharu all at 9-3. Hoshoryu still has a very outside shot at Ozeki candidacy despite the loss today, but he has to win his last 3 matches. And congratulations to Kinbozan for clinching a promotion in his top-tier debut. Winning out or at least 2 more wins could get him a Special Prize.
Key matches tomorrow: Daieisho-Meisei, Midorifuji-Hoshoryu. On paper this heavily favors Daieisho but we’ll see what happens. Ichinojo will be the Juryo man tomorrow, up for the second time this tournament. He’ll get Bushozan.

Of note: Thanks to Asanoyama’s surprise top-tier loss, it’s now Ichinojo’s championship to lose. He’ll be back in the top tier tomorrow ahead of a now guaranteed return in May. As the Makushita man up today, Fujiseiun likely finished his tournament with a promotion-clinching win so he has a chance to reach Juryo in May for the first time. On the flip side, it looks like Ochiai has run out of gas as today was his 3rd straight loss since an 8-1 start. Gonoyama beating the newcomer gives the former Makushita champion an outside chance at the championship but he’s 2 back of Ichinojo with 3 days left. And Tochimusashi’s last-gasp bid to avoid demotion finally ended today with his 8th loss. He now needs to win out to stay in Juryo, but getting to 6 wins may be enough. But that’s 3 straight demotions since his Juryo debut championship last summer. Tokihayate will be the Makushita man tomorrow going for a promotion in his likely finale, but 4-3 at Makushita 3 probably isn’t enough to reach Juryo in May. Asanoyama draws Akua (7-5) tomorrow, who is always unpredictable outside of his epic salt-fist prematch pose for the camera.

Lower tier notes:
The Makushita Championship match is tomorrow (later today Japan time) on Day 13 with Ryuo vs. Kaizen for 7-0 and the title.
There is a chance the Sandanme will be decided as all 3 6-0 wrestlers are in action with two facing each other, but if Kiyonoumi-who is first up-wins his match that guarantees a playoff against the Shosei-Toshunryu winner. And if it’s Toshunryu vs. Kiyonoumi that’s a playoff between stablemates as both are from Tamanoi Beya. If Kiyonoumi loses, the Shosei-Toshunryu winner is the champion.
The Jonidan had 3 unbeaten coming in but as of this post Takashoki, who was first up, lost so that means the upcoming Suguro-Mishima match is for the championship.
In the Jonokuchi, because Asahakuryu was in the Jonidan today and just beat Takashoki, he is the champion as the only one who will finish 7-0. So…ASAHAKURYU JONOKUCHI YUSHO! The first official March 2023 Champion. He’ll be back Sunday for the closing awards ceremony.

Impact Wrestling 3/23/23 Results (Updated)

Here are the quick results from tonight’s TAPED Impact Wrestling from Las Vegas, NV:

The YouTube pre-show match was Impact X Division Champion Trey Miguel vs. Kevin Knight in a NON-TITLE match.

Match 1: Time Machine (Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, KUSHIDA) beat Design (Deaner, Angels, Kon). KUSHIDA beat Angels with Hoverboard Lock.

Kenny King calls out PCO for Sacrifice.

Match 2: Deonna Purrazzo beat Savannah Evans. Evans & Gisele Shaw beat down Purrazzo afterwards.

Death Dollz argument culminates in Jessicka coming across a coffin with a hand reaching out to pull Taya Valkyrie inside. It closes as Jessicka runs away screaming. Guess this is Impact writing Taya off now that she’s signed with All Elite Wrestling and thus is probably done with Impact.

Match 3: Bully Ray & Masha Slamovich beat Tommy Dreamer & Mickie James. Bully pinned Dreamer after a piledriver. Afterwards Bully tried to powerbomb James through a table but Jordynne Grace made the save, however she inadvertently speared James when Bully dodged.

Rich Swann barges in on Steve Maclin going through Josh Alexander’s bags.

Match 4: Moose & Brian Myers beat Joe Hendry & Dirty Dango. Myers pinned Hendry after Roster Cut.

Main Event Segment: Josh Alexander comes out. He calls out Steve Maclin, who he defends the Impact World Championship against at Rebellion on 4/16. Maclin comes out and responds. Footage of Maclin observing Alexander from backstage at various events since mid-2022 is shown. Alexander wants to fight Maclin right then but Maclin refuses. He wants to win the title at Rebellion in Alexander’s hometown. But first Alexander must defend against KUSHIDA tomorrow.

Next week: The first-ever LIVE episode from Los Angeles (Anthem Studios at LA Live) leading into the Multiverse United PPV. Announced for that show: Miyu Yamashita vs. TBA, Will Ospreay vs. Homicide and Impact World Champion Josh Alexander vs. KENTA for the title. Those matches were taped already because Ospreay is injured and Alexander-KENTA already happened. Otherwise it will mainly be a preview for Multiverse United. PPV begins at 11 PM ET/8 PM PT only on FITE ($24.99).

Next up is Sacrifice tomorrow LIVE on Impact+ (subscription required, $7.99/month or $71.99/year), YouTube (Ultimate Insider subscription required, $4.99/month) and FITE ($9.99) at 8 PM ET/5 PM ET. A FREE pre-show is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET/4:30 PM PT on YouTube. & Impact+. NEAR LIVE results will be posted for the PPV portion (I will miss the pre-show due to work conflicts. Those results will be added after the PPV) but due to potential work conflicts I may be 10-15 minutes behind the action for the first hour or so. What should be 2 weeks of TV including fallout will be taped Saturday to take them from after next week to Rebellion on 4/16. Rebellion is their quarterly major PPV and will only be available live on cable/satellite providers and FITE ($39.99). Impact+ & Ultimate Inisders can watch on demand at a later date (I believe it’s 30 days but could be as much as 90 days).

UPDATE: After the show ended Impact announced on Twitter that Mickie James is now off Sacrifice. Unspecified injury. Further details announced at the event. She was to have defended the Impact Knockouts Championship against Jordynne Grace. It’s not known if this is legit or an angle (tonight’s show was taped nearly a month ago).

BREAKING: Women’s 3-Way Title Match Added to NJPW Event

New Japan just announced a big addition to SAKURA GENESIS on 4/8: IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone vs. AZM & Hazuki in a 3-way for the title. Both challengers are from Stardom (which like New Japan is owned by Bushiroad Corporation) and while this is not official, Mayu Iwatani has challenged the winner for the title on 4/23 in Stardom at Yokohama Arena.

Impact News: Top Tag Team Staying Put

Impact Wresting has confirmed a report from Sports Illustrated earlier today that Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley, aka Motor City Machine Guns. have signed a new contract with the promotion. Terms were not revealed but they will continue to have freedom to work with other promotions including New Japan Pro Wrestling. Both have been with Impact for over 15 years and will be part of a 6-man tag with KUSHIDA at tomorrow’s Sacrifice PPV (available on FITE, Impact+ and YouTube for Ultimate Insiders).

Injury Report: All-Japan Champions Carnival Entrant Out

All-Japan announced earlier today that Naoya Nomura, slated to be in the upcoming 2023 Champions Carnival tournament, is now out due to injury. Torn left knee ligament, possibly ACL. Out indefinitely but sounds like months. No replacement named yet.

Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy & Sting beat Kip Sabian The Butcher & The Blade. Sting pinned Sabian after Scorpion Deathdrop.

AEW Tag Team Champions Gunn Club beat Top Flight to retain the titles. Austin Gunn pinned Dariua Martin after 3:10 To Yuma. The Kingdom interference set it up. Afterwards, FTR made a challenge for the titles with the stip that if they lose, they would leave AEW.

Jon Moxley beat Stu Grayson.

In a No DQ Match with The Firm banned from ringside, Hook beat Stokely Hathaway. Squash. Comedy match.
