TJPW News: Next US Tour Set, Postponed Debut (Updated x2)

Some Tokyo Joshi Pro news:

First, unfortunately one of two planned debuts on 1/4 will not happen as Henri, who doesn’t have her ring name yet so name is listed as (tentative), has had her debut match postponed. Unspecified beyond “comprehensive judgement of condition” which likely means either the always vague poor health or an unspecified injury. New date TBA.

In other better news, the first US tour of 2026 is set, it will be from 3/17-3/22 in Texas. 4 events are scheduled and the first two are very significant because they will be part of SXSW, the massive annual business conference/festival in Austin. There will also be events in Dallas and Houston. Dates and times are TBA.

UPDATE: Ren Konatsu is now off Saturday’s event. The always vague poor health. She was to have faced Suzume. Uta Takami is the replacement and is now out of a 20 woman battle royal as a result. It will now be a 19 woman battle royal instead.

UPDATE 2: It has been announced that Shion, the other new trainee who will debut on 1/4, has been given the ring name Shion Kanzaki.

Stardom 12/24/2025 Results

Stardom finished up their main 2025 schedule today with a Christmas Eve event.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on Stardom World. And as their holiday gift to us, you can also watch THE ENTIRE EVENT FOR FREE on YouTube.

The announced paid attendance was 1121.

There were last-minute changes to the card due to Matoi Hamabe being pulled off the event. Fever. Also out tomorrow. Cohaku was the replacement today.

Pre-show match: Yuki Mashiro beat Kikyo Furusawa.

Match 1: Natsupoi, Rian & Ema Maishima beat Sareee, ChiChi & Miku Kanae. Rian pinned Kanae.

Match 2: Xena & Waka Tsukiyama beat Cohaku (WAVE) & Anne Kanaya. Xena pinned Kanaya.

Match 3: Hazuki, Koguma, AZM, Miyu Amasaki & Olympia (CMLL) beat Ami Sohreo, Lady C, Tomoka Inaba, Bozilla & Akira Kurogame. Hazuki pinned Kurogame after a diving senton.

Match 4: Bea Priestley, Momo Kohgo & Yuria Hime beat Saki kashima, Hina & Kiyoka Kokatsu, Suzu Suzuki, Rina Yamashita & Itsuki Aoki and Rina, Azusa Inaba & Fukigen in a 4-way when Priestley pinned Fukigen.

Match 6: Yuna Mizumori beat High Speed Champion Mei Seira to win the title. Mizumori becomes the 28th High Speed Champion. UPSET ALERT!!! The seemingly-unbeatable Seira loses the title. And by Mizumori no less. Whoa. (Seira had just beaten the longest reign mark by a few days and was tied for second-most successful defenses. The record, which AZM can breathe easier about now as she still holds it. Is 12)

Main Event: Saori Anou, Saya Iida, Aya Sakura & Sayaka Kurara beat Saya Kamitani, Natsuko Tora, Konami & Ruaka. Anou pinned Kamitani after Special Pottering. Is this a preview of what could happen Monday in the World Of Stardom Championship match?

The next event is NEW BLOOD 27 tomorrow at Belle Salle Shibuya. Live streaming FOR FREE on YouTube will begin at 1:30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET.

DDT 12/24/2025 Results

DDT ran their penultimate event of 2025 which was also the year’s last Tokyo event.

Today’s event was held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The paid attendance was not announced.

Match 1: Daichi Sato & Yuni beat Rukiya & Hinata Kasai. Yuni pinned Kasai after a firebird splash.

Match 2: Daisuke Sasaki, Hideki Okatani, MJ Paul & Demus beat Yuki Iino, Yukio Naya, Super Sasadango Machine & Takao Soma. Sasaki beat Soma with a crossface.

Match 3: O-MENZ Kunadori beat Illusion.

Match 4: KANON beat Yuya Koroku.

Match 5: In a match where no kissing was allowed for the first 5 minutes and also no pinfalls or submissions for those first 5 minutes, Sanshiro Takagi, Jun Akiyama & HARASHIMA beat Danshoku Dieno, Kazuki Hirata & Akito. HARASHIMA pinned Hirata after Blue Sword.

Match 6: Chris Brookes beat Takeshi Masada. Afterwards, it sounded like Brookes decided to disband Schadenfreude International and leave so if it still exists, it’s only Antonio Honda and maybe Masa Takanashi.

Main Event: Yuki Ueno, MAO & Kazusada Higuchi beat To-y, Kazuna Sumi & Yuki Ishida. MAO pinned Sumi.

The next event is Saturday at Imaike Gas Hall in Nagoya for a year-ending weekend doubleheader. There will be no live broadcast. On demand Tuesday.

Pro Wrestling NOAH 12/23/2025 Results (Updated)

Pro Wrestling NOAH wrapped up their 2025 today with their final event of the year, PRO WRESTLING NOAH THANKSGIVING 2025.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 1492, a super full house/very near sellout. Maybe a legit sellout as only a few same-day tickets were left prior to today.

Match 1: Will Kroos, Alejandro & Kai Fujimura beat Saxon Huxley, Shuji Kondo & Eita. Kroos pinned Eita after a frog splash.

Match 2: Tadasuke & Jun Masaoka (Independent/Freelancer) beat Atsushi Kotofe & Hajime Ohara. Tadasuke beat Kotoge with a cross lock.

Match 3: Kazuyuki Fujita won a 12 man battle royal, last eliminating Manabu Soya. Order of elimination: Yuto Koyanagi, Mohammed Yone, Ulka Sasaki, Daga, HAYATA, Harutoki, Junta Miyawaki, Hi69, Shuhei Taniguchi, Black Menso-re, Soya.

Matxh 4: Naomichi Marufuji & Kenoh beat Hiroto Tauruya & Midori Takahashi. Kenoh beat Takahashi with Kenoh Special.

Match 5: Hiromu Takahashi & Daiki Nagai (New Japan) beat AMAKUSA & Daiki Odashima. Takahashi pinned AMAKUSA after Time Bomb.

Match 6: Takashi Sugiura 25th Anniversary Match: Takashi Sugiura beat KENTA.

Main Event: OZAWA, Masa Kitamiya & Tadasuke beat Yoshiki Inamura, Kaito Kiyomiya & Tetsuya Endo. OZAWA pinned Endo after Real Rebel. This originally was to have been Inamura & Kitamiya vs. Kiyomiya & Endo but OZAWA was a surprise last-second addition to the match as was Tadasuke. It also marks OZAWA’s official return from injury.

The next event, the first of 2026, is NOAH THE NEW YEAR 2026 on 1/1 at Nippon Budokan. Live streaming ONLY IN JAPAN ON ABEMA will begin on 12/31 at 10 PM PT/1 AM ET. There is no live WRESTLE UNIVERSE broadcast so set up and test your VPNs now so you can get ABEMA if you are outside Japan (the event should be a free broadcast even though ABEMA is mow offering a limited version of WRESTLE UNIVERSE as a paid option-it will only include select live events, no on demand). It also likely won’t be on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE right away-you may have to wait a week or two.

UPDATE: 1/1 will now be LIVE ON WRESTLE UNIVERSE in English only.

News: WRESTLE UNIVERSE Now On ABEMA?

An interesting social media post I cane across that was shared by former Tokyo Joshi Pro wrestler (now YouTuber too) Nao Kakuta-it seems that WRESTLE UNIVERSE may now be available as part of ABEMA, the major online streaming service in Japan. A graphic in Japanese indicates you can now subscribe to ABRMA and watch all live broadcasts of DDT, NOAH and TJPW on the service for 1250 Japanese yen per month or around $8 US. That’s 48 yen (about 30 cents) cheaper than WRESTLE UNIVERSE. Free broadcasts on ABEMA will remain free. However, some live WRESTLE UNIVERSE content is not part of the ABEMA plan (Sendai Girls and maybe the other smaller promotions), and the only thing UNIVERSE won’t have in comparison is the NOAH talk show program that streams on ABEMA. Also, the ABEMA plan WILL NOT include on demand broadcasts-those will remain exclusive to WRESTLE UNIVERSE. It sounds like, as far as UNIVERSE goes, nothing will change. The only thing you’ll miss out are the occasional ABEMA-only live NOAH events (like 1/1) unless you can set up a VPN and figure out a workaround if you’re outside Japan.

In other words, if you already have WRESTLE UNIVERSE stick with it as you don’t need this ABEMA add-on. Just try and get a good VON and setup so you can watch free content on ABEMA like the live major NOAH events, sumo, etc.

NEWS: Major GLEAT Departures (Updated x2)

After Purotesu Today reported on some pending GLEAT departures at the end of the year, the promotion announced more on their website, and they’re major…

First up, after rampant rumors about his status, CIMA is leaving the promotion on 12/31. Contract expiring and they couldn’t agree on an extension. CIMA will continue to appear as a freelancer and will appear on at least 6 events next year to make up for the events he missed these last 2 months due to injury after his potential departure was revealed in November.

Second, Ryo Aitaka is also leaving the promotion. Contract expiring. He will continue to compete as a freelancer, including in GLEAT, and also plans to focus more on work as an actor.

Also departing is Commissioner Masato Yoshino, who is retiring on 12/31 when his contract expires. He and CIMA have been with the promotion since the beginning after leaving Dragon Gate (Yoshino had already retired as a wrestler due to injuries). The position will not be filled.

Finally, Executive Director Kiyoshi Tamura will also retire on 12/31 at the end of his contract. No plans for a replacement.

Aitaka’s last match will be on 12/30, a Lidet UWF Single Bout vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima. All except Aitaka had been with GLEAT since the promotion was formed.

Not yet announced-clarification on the promotion’s YouTube plans. If you missed it before, they will terminate their paid channel membership program in one week.

UPDATE: The promotion also announced the plans for YouTube with the paid membership ending: EVERYTHING in 2026 including all events except non-televised/recorded house shows will be available FOR FREE! What’s not yet clear is what will happen to everything that was paywalled this year. Guess we’ll find out in about a week.

UPDATE 2: The 12/30 event will be LIVE FOR FREE on YouTube. May be a slight delay for on demand afterwards.

New Japan 12/22/25 Results (Updated)

New Japan wrapped up their 2025 with the final event of the Road To TOKYO DOME Tour and the Hiroshi Tanahashi retirement road, the last event before his retirement match at Tokyo Dome.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on New Japan World FOR FREE!!! No account or paid subscription required! No YouTube as a result.

The announced paid attendance was 1515, a legit sellout.

Match 1: NJPW WORLD TV Champion El Phantasmo beat TBA, revealed at match time to be Ryusuke Taguchi, to retain the title. V5 for Phantasmo. Next up: Possibly DDT wrestler Chris Brookes, who attacked Phantasmo post-match and issued the challenge. According to DDT’s official English social media, the challenge is for Tokyo Dome.

Match 2; Boltin Oleg, YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto beat Tiger Mask, Satoshi Kojima & Taichi. YOSHI-HASHI pjnned TM 4.

Match 3: Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Yujiro Takahashi, Ren Narita, SANADA & EVIL beat Master Wato, Yoh, Toru Yano, Yuya Uemura & Shota Umino. Narita pinned Wato. Afterwards, a House Of Torture beatdown commenced until DDT’s Kaisei Takechi made the save, surely to the delight of female fans in attendance.

Match 4: Jacob Austin Young, Callum Newman & Great-O-Khan beat Gedo, Hiromu Takahashi & David Finlay. Newman pinned Gedo after Overkill. Afterwards, Newman revealed one of the two TBA for United Empire in the 10-man tag at Tokyo Dome…Andrade El Idolo. Supposedly Andrade has a 1 year no-compete clause due to being let go again by WWR for drug program violations but I’d heard a “one-time exception” was being negotiated by his legal team. This must be it.

Match 5: Sho & DOUKI beat KUUKAI & El Desperado and Daiki Nagai & Taiji Ishinori in a 3-way when DOUKI pinned Nagai.

Match 6: Yota Tsuji, OSKAR (The Grouch) & Yuto Ice (Ice Baby) beat Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa & Zack Sabre Jr. Tsuji pinned Jackson after Gene Blaster.

Main Event: Hiroshi Tanahashi beat Kosei Fujita. Afterwards, Tanahashi said farewell to the venue where he made his debut and performed one final Korakuen epic air guitar show to send the fans home happy.

2025 has now come to a close for New Japan and the Hiroshi Tanahashi Retirement Road has reached the final stop because…

The next event, the first of 2026, is WRESTLE KINGDOM 20 in TOKYO DOME, the biggest annual event in Japanese pro wrestling and maybe biggest in the world after WWE WrestleMania, on 1/4 at the Tokyo Dome. The event is a legit advance sellout. Live streaming EXCLUSIVELY on New Japan World OUTSIDE JAPAN ONLY will begin on 1/3 at 11 PM PT/2 AM ET. This will be a live & exclusive TV Asahi broadcast in Japan only. Additionally, a special program looking back at Tanahashi’s career will be aired on New Japan World FOR FREE Wednesday beginning at 1:30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET.

UPDATE: It’s now official. Phantasmo-Brookes has been added to Tokyo Dome and will be a pre-show match.

Also, the full field for the battle royal for the NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Championship match on 1/4 has been announced: Master Wato, Yoh & Toru Yano will defend the titles against these 7 teams-Shota Umino/Yuya Uemura/Kaisei Takechi (DDT), Hirooki Goto/YOSHI-HASHI/Boltin Oleg, Zack Sabre Jr./Ryohei Oiwa/Hartley Jackson, Togi Makabe/Ryusuke Taguxhi/Tiger Mask, Clark Connors/OSKAR/Yuto Ice, Tomohiro Ishii/Taichi/Satoshi Kojima, Ren Narita/Yoshinobu Kanemaru/SANADA. 2 teams will start and a new team enters every minute. When one wrestler is eliminated that entire trio is out. Eliminations are by pinfall, submission or over the top rope. Last team left wins the match and the titles

Sumo-January 2026 Banzuke Announced

It’s earlier than usual but sumo fans just got an early Christmas present-the Japan Sumo Association has just announced the updated Banzuke (rankings) for the January 2026 Grand Sumo Tournament. Below are the full rankings for the top 2 tiers then some related notes:

Makuuchi (top tier):
Yokozuna-Onosato, Hoshoryu
Ozeki-Aonishiki (November Champion), Kotozakura
Sekiwake-Kirishima, Takayasu
Komusubi-Oho, Wakamotoharu
Maegashira 1-Ichiyamamoto, Yoshinofuji
Maegashira 2-Ura, Wakatakakage
Maegashira 3-Takanosho, Hakunofuji
Maegashira 4-Daieisho, Atsmifuji
Maegashira 5-Tamawashi, Churanoumi
Maegashira 6-Hiradoumi, Onokatsu
Maegashira 7-Oshoma, Fujinokawa
Maegashira 8-Shodai, Kinbozan
Maegashira 9-Gonoyama, Roga
Maegashira 10-Tokihayate, Kotoshoho
Maegashira 11-Chiyoshoma, Nishikifuji
Maegashira 12-Midorifuji, Abi
Maegashira 13-Tobizaru, Tomokaze
Maegashira 14-Shishi, Mitakeumi
Maegashira 15-Ryuden, Asakoryu
Maegashira 16-Asanoyama, Oshoumi
Maegashira 17-Asahakuryu, Hatsuyama
Notes: First up, another one you don’t recognize? Yep, now that he’s a full-fledged Isegahama wrestler and no more Miyagino/Hakuho, Hakuoho is now also a kaimei rikishi, with a new shikona (ring name) and is under full Isegahama credo as Hakunofuji. Sounds like he also is the first to have a Terunofuji-influenced ring name on top of the Fuji requirement (Terunofuji is now the current Isegahama). That aside…the big story is Aonishiki being promoted to Ozeki and making his first effort at the second-highest ranking, beginning his quest towards a vow to reach Yokozuna this year. He comes in on the heels of his first Emperor’s Cup and will look to win more tournaments and more matches. There may be some health concerns about Onosato due to a shoulder injury that caused him to withdraw for the first time on the final day of November, but all indications are he should be good to go. Hoshoyu won this tournament last year to clinch promotion to Yokozuna and is coming off another playoff loss. At the bottom, Asanoyama makes his long-awaited return to the top tier right between Takasago stablemates Asakoryu-hanging on to his spot despite another struggle in November-and Asahakuryu who makes his top tier debut after only 2 Juryo tournaments including a championship. Hatsuyama will also make his top tier debut at the bottom of the rankings while the Aonishiki promotion takes away the Maegashira 18 ranking for now.

UPDATE (12/24/2025): Nikkan Sports reports Onosato is expected to participate in the tournament.

Juryo:
Juryo 1-Kotoeiho, Fujiseiun
Juryo 2-Daiseizan, Kagayaki
Juryo 3-Fujiryoga (November Champion), Shirokuma
Juryo 4-Sadanoumi, Shonannoumi
Juryo 5-Tamashoho, Takerufuji
Juryo 6-Kotokuzan, Nishinoryu
Juryo 7-Tochitaikai, Asasuiryu
Juryo 8-Meisei, Kitanowaka
Juryo 9-Hitoshi, Kayo
Juryo 10-Kazekeno, Tohakuryu
Juryo 11-Wakanosho, Tsurugisho
Juryo 12-Nishikigi, Kyokukaiyu
Juryo 13-Hidenoumi, Dewanoryu
Juryo 14-Hakuyozan, Kazuma (November Makushita Champion)
Notes: Not quite enough for Fujiryoga to get to the top tier after a championship in his Juryo debut as he’s near the top of loaded rankings. Somewhat surprised Fujiseiun didn’t get promoted to the top tier despite 8-7 at J1 last time, he’ll have to try again this time. Kotoeiho also lost out on the numbers game too and only went up one spot to J1 despite 9-6. Meisei didn’t fall as far as I feared he would, only to the middle of Juryo and hopefully will be ready for a full comeback as he was a late entry in November after back surgery. The Shin-Juryo wrestlers fill out the bottom 3 rankings with Kazuma debuting after a championship at Ms15.

Lower tier notes: As probably expected, Mita was demoted from Juryo after having to withdraw early due to injury and is now at Makushita 1, but he is not expected to compete this time. Former Juryo champion Tochimusashi is the other Ms1. Himukamaru was demoted back to Makushita after his Juryo debut, but not too bad as he only fell to Ms2 so he can get back quickly. At the other slot, the Miyagino purge by Isegahama continues as Seihakuho is also kaimei, now going forward he will be Toshinofuji. Shiden was also demoted from Juryo and is at Ms3. Basically anyone that was a Miyagino man in Isegahama now, except for Enho, is also kaimei and is now a Fuji. Enho took a smaller than hoped for jump up, moving up to Ms11 which means he probably will need to go 7-0 and win the championship for a Juryo return in March. Debuting at Ms21 in the third tier is Kaki, who will be going for a 4th straight championship to open his career, and in all 4 of the lower tiers. That feat could mean a Juryo debut in March. The Sandanme is at the usual “new normal” of 80 ranks and 160 total wrestlers. The Jonidan slims down a little to 101 ranks and 202 total wrestlers while the Jonokuchi has 21 ranks and 42 total wrestlers.

The January Tournament runs from 1/11-1/25 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo. All tickets are already sold out.

From the pre-tournament Banzuke Topics, here are some more notes about Aonishiki’s promotion:
Excluding Makushita debuts like Onosato, he is the fastest ever to go from pro debut to Ozeki, needing just 14 tournaments and blowing away the prior record. The previous record? 19 tournaments for Kotooshu (now the stablemaster Naruto). And he did it in leas than half the time it took Hakuho! (31 tournaments which is 10th)
He is tied with Azumafuji & Onosato for fastest from top tier debut to Ozeki since after World War 2, needing just 5 tournaments.
At 21 years 8 months, he is the 4th youngest new Ozeki since 1958. He beat out now-5th place Asashoryu by a few days (21 years 9 months). The youngest ever new Ozeki is Takanohana who was 20 years 5 months. Aonishiki is behind Hakuho in 3rd who was 21.
