Pro Wrestling NOAH “NEW HOPE” Results (12/18/22) (Updated)

Pro Wrestling NOAH kicks off their final week of events for 2022 today with the first of 3 special themed events this week, NEW HOPE. This is a short event with just 5 matches scheduled that will place more spotlight on the younger, more inexperienced members of the roster who haven’t gotten as much experience as ideal the last couple years due to the pandemic. They’ll get to face some of NOAH’s top stars in an event where vocal cheering will also be allowed. It should be a nice appetizer for the second half of today’s doubleheader-after this event is over, come back a couple hours later for a Kongo Produced event featuring the promotion’s top heel faction. The main event hasn’t been revealed.

Today’s event will be held at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There probably will be no commentary. With the event later and just 5 matches this won’t be a long event-I would expect the total running time, barring marathon matches, to be less than 2 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Shoki Kitamura (Tochigi Pro Wrestling) vs. Atsushi Kotoge
Masa Kitamiya & Daiki Inaba vs. Yoshiki Inamura & Taishi Ozawa
Naomichi Marufuji vs. Alejandro
Kaito Kiyomiya & AMAKUSA vs. Jack Morris & Dante Leon
Yasutaka Yano vs. Satoshi Kojima

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT.

10 PM ET UPDATE: Live results begin now.

We are LIVE from Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo, Japan. There is no commentary.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. It’s a small venue and vocal cheering is allowed so it’ll be smaller than usual in spite of that, but looks full or close to it. Probably right around 200. We may have only hard-camera views today.

Match 1: Shoki Kitamura (Tochigi Pro Wrestling) vs. Atsushi Kotoge. 15 minute time limit
Result: Time Limit Draw

Match 2: Masa Kitamiya & Daiki Inaba vs. Yoshiki Inamura & Taishi Ozawa. 20 minute time limit
Result: Masa Kitamiya & Daiki Inaba beat Yoshiki Inamura & Taishi Ozawa. Inaba beat Ozawa with a modified arm & facelock. Almost went the time limit again.

Match 3: Naomichi Marufuji vs. Alejandro. 30 minute time limit
Result: Naomichi Marufuji beat Alejandro.

Match 4: Kaito Kiyomiya & AMAKUSA vs. Jack Morris & Dante Leon. 45 minute time limit
Result: Jack Morris & Dante Leon beat Kaito Kiyomiya & AMAKUSA. Leon pinned AMAKUSA after a twisting diving senton.

Main Event: Yasutaka Yano vs. Satoshi Kojima. 1 Hour time limit
Result: Satoshi Kojima beat Yasutaka Yano

If you don’t mind only having the hard camera perspective, this was a good show. 5 solid matches crammed into 100 minutes. If you missed it live, it’s worth a watch on demand.

The next event is a Kongo Produced event later today. That event is a legit advance sellout. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 3:30 AM ET/12:30 AM PT.

UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 205. With reduced capacity for vocal cheering that was probably in the 80-85% full range.

Pro Wrestling NOAH 11/23/22 Results

The next event is 12/14 at Aizuwakamatsu City Gym in Fukushima, continuing the never-ending SUNNY VOYAGE 2022 Tour, which will continue into 2023. Broadcast plans TBA.

In upcoming event news/fallout from today, 2 title matches are set for the year-ending N INNOVATION event on 12/23: Kotoge & Yoshioka will defend the Jr. Tag Team Titles against YO-HEY & Kzy (Dragon Gate), and GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion Dante Leon vs. AMAKUSA (formerly Haoh) for the title is also set. 12/18 will be a Kongo produced event, 12/20 will be a Tokyo Gurentai Produced Independent event, possibly the final farewell to the iconic heel faction led by NOSAWA Rongai that dates back to the 1990s, and a GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Championship has been added to 1/1…and it’s gonna be a big blast from the past as Takashi Sugiura & Satoshi Kojima defend against Naomichi Marufuji and…KENTA!!! Let’s keep that New Japan-NOAH crossover door wide open!

And finally, the January & February 2023 schedule was announced. After the New Year event on 1/1, the 2023 campaign begins with a same-day doubleheader on 1/8 at Korakuen Hall, then the SUNNY VOYAGE 2023 Tour continues with two events in January & February after Keiji Muto’s Farewell Event…or is it? Might not be because Muto will appear at GREAT VOYAGE 2023 in OSAKA on 2/12 at Osaka Prefectural Gym-although the plan is he will only be a guest and not participating. And the also-never ending STAR NAVIGATION 2022-23 your continues in February.

Pro Wrestling NOAH 11/11/22 Results

For the second half of Global 2days, Pro Wrestling NOAH and Dragon Gate Pro Wrestling ran a special cross-promotional event full of matches with both promotions facing off against each other. No title matches but no doubt a lot of pride on the line.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 1209. This is the highest Korakuen number I’ve seen period, or at worst the second-highest, since the pandemic began, which is outstanding. It meant no vocal support but that’s still close to double what has been “normal” the last couple years (Under normal circumstances, this would be 55-60% of the venue’s max capacity).

Match 1: Yoshiki Inamura, Yasutaka Yano & Kai Fujimura beat Madoka Kikuta, Ryu Fuda & Mochizuki Jr. Inamura pinned Fuda after Oklahoma Stampede. On an interesting side note, Mochizuki Jr. is the real-life son of NOAH & Dragon Gate wrestler Masaaki Mochizuki.

Match 2: In a timed-entry 5-way elimination match, Manabu Soya & ISHIN beat Mohammed Yone & BIGBOSS Shimizu, Ben-K & Minorita, Eita & Super Crazy and Susumu Michizuki & Yasushi Kanda. When one member of a team was eliminated, their partner was as well. Order of elimination: Mochizuki/Kanda by Yone/Shimizu, Eita/Crazy by multiple teams, Ben-K/Minorita by Soya/ISHIN, Yone/Shimizu by Soya/ISHIN. Eliminations were by pinfall, submission or over the top rope.

Match 3: Kzy, JACKY “FUNKY” KAMEI & YO-HEY beat Ryo Saito, Genki Horiguchi & NOSAWA Rongai. Kzy pinned NOSAWA.

Match 4; Satoshi Kojima beat Konomama Ichikawa. Likely a comedy match (it was short).

Match 5: Atsushi Kotoge, Dante Leon & Punch Tominaga beat UT, Jason Lee & Strong Machine J. Leon pinned Lee after Inferno. Strong Machine J is another second-generation wrestler, he is the son of former New Japan Pro Wrestling veteran Super Strong Machine.

Match 6: YAMATO beat Seiki Yoshioka.

Match 7: AMAKUSA (Haoh) & Takuma Fujiwara beat Shun Skiywalker & Tadasuke. AMAKUSA pinned Tadasuke.

Match 8: Dragon Kid, Alejandro, Dragon Dia, Ninja Mack & Extreme Tiger beat BxB Hulk, H-Y-O, Diamante (not the US female wrestler who has competed in All Elite Wrestling), Hajime Ohara & Hi69. Mack pinned H-Y-O after Ninja Bomb.

Main Event: Kenoh & Kota Minoura beat Kaito Kiyomiya & Yuki Yoshioka. Kenoh pinned Kiyomiya after Ring Of Fire.

Before this event, I had previously decided I was going to add more Dragon Gate coverage to the site in the near future, and now I have decided that will start in January 2023. Dragon Gate is what I consider to be the #4 promotion in Japan, and is very popular with younger fans for it’s emphasis on Jr. Heavyweight style fast & furious action and also faction warfare being very integral to the promotion. It previously branched out to the USA in the late 2000s & early 2010s but ultimately failed after a strong start due to lack of support on the US side among other things. Among notable DG alumni competing elsewhere now is Shingo Takagi, who has been in New Japan Pro Wrestling for a few years and was the rare heavyweight in the promotion and has become one of the top wrestlers in Japan over the last two years.

The next event is NOAH the BEST 2022 on 11/23 at Yoyogi National Stadium Gym 2 in Tokyo. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in English will begin on 11/22 at 10 PM PT/1 AM ET.

Pro Wrestling NOAH 11/10/22 Results

Pro Wrestling NOAH kicked off a special doubleheader today with “Global Honored Crown”, an event that only featured 5 matches (excluding a pre-show match), but they were all GHC Title matches making it a major event with all significant outcomes.

Today’s event was held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. You can also watch the pre-show match FOR FREE on YouTube.

The announced paid attendance was 789. That number suggests vocal cheering was not allowed (the limit likely would have been 700) and this seems just short of a full house.

Match 1: Pre-Show Dark Match: Yoshiki Inamura & Kai Fujimura beat Yaustaka Yano & Taishi Ozawa. Inamura pinned Ozawa after a shoulder tackle.

Match 2: Shuji Kondo & Hajime Ohara beat GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Atsushi Kotoge & Seiki Yoshioka to win the titles. Pro Wrestling NOAH 10/30/22 Results

Pro Wrestling NOAH continued the Keiji Muto Retirement Road series today with what possibly was the first pro wrestling event to be held at Tokyo’s new Ariake Arena venue, constructed for the 2020 (delayed to 2021) Summer Olympics in Japan. This marks the halfway point in Muto’s originally planned 5 match retirement series, today’s match was a crossover match with New Japan Pro Wrestling as Muto was opposite perhaps the G.O.A.T. of New Japan, the one & only Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Today’s event was held at Ariake Arena in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese and English. The live broadcast earlier was only in English due to being an ABEMA exclusive.

The announced paid attendance was 3739. Because vocal cheering was allowed, that meant 50% capacity (the venue’s normal max capacity will be 12,000). Between that and the layout, this was roughly 75-80% full, a good debut number for the venue.

Pre-Show Dark Match: Kai Fujimura beat Taishi Ozawa.

Main Show:
Before the first match, Go Shiozaki came out to address the crowd. He was wearing a t-shirt that read “I AM NOAH COMEBACK COMMING SOON”. Yes, it was misspelled. Shiozaki is out due to injury. He led the crowd in shouts of “I AM NOAH! WE ARE NOAH!”
Match 1: Manabu Soya, Shuji Kondo & Hajime Ohara beat Shuhei Taniguchi, Alejandro & Extreme Tiger. Kondo pinned Alejandro after a King Kong lariat.

Match 2: Jack Morris & Dante Leon beat Daiki Inaba & YO-HEY. Morris pinned YO-HEY after Inferno.

Match 3: Yoshinari Ogawa, Chris Ridgeway & Yasutaka Yano beat NOSAWA Rongai, Eita & Super Crazy by DQ. Eita DQ’d. NOSAWA weapon use.

Match 4: Hideki Suzuki & Dr. Wagner Jr. beat Takashi Sugiura 7 Masa Kitamiya. Wagner pinned Kitamiya after Wagner Driver.

Before the next match began, a recorded video played…O…M…G…January 1, Nippon Budokan…The Great Muta vs….SHINSUKE NAKAMURA!!! He’s coming home to Japan! (Nakamura has spent the last decade-plus in WWE since leaving New Japan) This will be an ABEMA live broadcast so hopefully in English on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

Match 5: GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Atsushi Kotoge & Seiki Yoshioka beat Tadasuke & Hi69 to retain the titles. Kotoge pinned Hi69. V1 for the champs. Afterwards, Shuji Kondo & Hajime Ohara hit the ring to make the next challenge and start a Kongo beatdown of the champs until a mysterious masked man ran in to make the save and clean house. The mystery man then unmasked himself…Haoh! Tadasuke was en fuego because Haoh was expelled from NOAH after losing their last match against each other. But Haoh seems to be back and will now be known as AMAKUSA.

Match 6: Ninja Mack beat GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion HAYATA by ref stoppage (injury) to win the title. Mack becomes the 50th GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion. HAYATA could not continue due to an elbow injury. Never how you want a title match (or any match) to end. The injury occurred just before the 10 minute mark when Mack went for a sequence starting with multple backflips after bouncing off the ropes following a running start, then with HAYATA on the apron Mack backflipped over the ropes into a powerbomb to the floor. The ref checked on HAYATA then began the 20 count. At 5 the ref checked again on HAYATA and stopped it. HAYATA was already clutching his left elbow and wrist area. It might have landed on the hard floor just past where the mats around the ring ended.

Match 7: In a GHC Martial Arts Rules Match, GHC National Champion Masakatsu Funaki beat Kazushi Sakuraba by ref stoppage (submission) to retain the title.V6 for Funaki. The rules made this a very short match, just 199 seconds.

Match 8: GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Takashi Sugiura & Satoshi Kojima beat Kenoh & Katsuhiko Nakajima to retain the titles. Kojima pinned Nakajima after Western Lariat. V1 for the champs.

Match 9: Keiji Muto Retirement Series-PRO WRESTLING LOVE FOREVER 3 ~TRIUMPH~: Keiji Muto, Naomichi Marufuji & Yoshiki Inamura beat Hiroshi Tanahashi, Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma (New Japan Pro Wrestling). Marufuji pinned Honma after Shiranui.

Main Event: GHC Heavyweight Champion Kaito Kiyomiya beat Kazuyuki Fujita to retain the title. V1 for Kiyomiya. And fulfillment as he avenged his only N-1 VICTORY 2022 loss.

Regarding HAYATA, it was announced after the event he was scheduled to be on the 11/10 event and is now off. The event will feature 5 matches, all GHC title matches. Thus here is who is next up for all the champions at that event (in match order):
Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team (Kotoge/YO-HEY): Kondo & Hajime Ohara
Jr. Heavyweight (Mack): Leon
Heavyweight Tag (Sugiura/Kojima): Mohammed Yone & Akitoshi Saito
National (Funaki): Wagner Jr.
Heavyweight (Kiyomiya): Timothy Thatcher
This event will be live on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.
More on the HAYATA injury when/if it becomes available. The earlier announcement means he is out at least 2 weeks. There are only 4 events scheduled in November with December’s schedule TBA beyond a special Tokyo Gurentai produced standalone event on 12/20.

The next event is Thursday at Kira Messe Numazu in Shizuoka, which likely will end the SUNNY VOYAGE 2022 Tour. This will be aired on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date, which probably will be 11/6 or 11/7 (there will be no live broadcast).
