Dragon Gate continued the KING OF GATE 2023 Tournament today with the first half of the Quarterfinals.

Today’s event was held at Kobe Art Center in Kobe and can be watched on demand on DRAGONGATE NETWORK.

The announced paid attendance was 408, a full house/near sellout.

Match 1: Kota Minoura, Ben-K, BxB Hulk & Minorita beat Yuki Yoshioka, Ryu Fuda, Kaito Nagano & Ryoya Tanaka. Ben-K pinned Tanaka after a spear.

Match 2: Masaaki Mochizuki, Mochizuki Jr. & Yasushi Kanda beat Genki Horiguchi, Ichikawa & Shachihoko BOY. Kanda pinned Ichikawa after a diving elbow drop.

Match 3: Kzy & U-T beat Don Fujii & Problem Dragon. U-T pinned Dragon after Gaora.

Match 4: Jason Lee, JACKY “FUNKY” KAMEI & Ho Ho Lun beat Dragon Kid, Naruki Doi & Punch Tominaga. KAMEI pinned Tominaga after “JACKY” Knife.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 7/22/23 Results

Tokyo Joshi Pro continues the Tokyo Princess Cup today, wrapping up Round 1 with the last 2 matches before the Quarterfinals. The first match will be an underdog pairing as Arisu Endo faces Mahiro Kiryu, then the second match has Yuki Arai facing Hikari Noa. The winners will meet in the Quarterfinals. The rest of the card has 5 matches planned instead of the usual 4 to get almost everyone else onto the event.

Today’s event will be held at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE. There will be no commentary. The extra match and only one being a single match, plus the tournament matches, should make this a longer event than the unusually short tournament events so far. I anticipate this one being around the standard house show runtime of 2 hours.

Result: Yuki Aino beat Toga by submission. Just before the 5 minute mark it looked like Aino possibly botched a spot bouncing off the ropes and was out of it for a couple seconds after her head hit the top rope flush. Maybe just me.

New Japan ran Day 5 of the G1 CLIMAX 33 today, Day 3 of Blocks A & B as the prelims near the halfway point.

Today’s event was held at Aore Nagaoka in Niigata and can be watched on demand on New Japan World. This was a Samurai! TV simulcast.

The announced paid attendance was 2361.

All matches are G1 CLIMAX matches, 20 minute time limit.

Match 1: Block B: YOSHI-HASHI beat Tanga Loa.

Match 2: Block A: Gabriel Kidd beat Ren Narita.

Impact Wrestling 7/21/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s Impact Wrestling in Windsor, Canada:

This episode was taped Sunday and begins the fallout from Saturday’s Slammiversary PPV.

The YouTube pre-show match was Crazzy Steve vs. Alan Angels.

Slammiversary highlights open the show. A shocking moment at the end after the main event when Josh Alexander returned. He’ll be part of tonight’s show.

Scott D’Amore opens the show in the ring. It looks like his mother is at ringside in the crowd. He puts Sunday teammates Eric Young & Darren McCarty over and thanks the crowd before announcing his leave of absence as President of Impact is over, but he is acting Director Of Authority tonight because Santino Marella has a match. He runs down what else is on tap for tonight. As he prepares to introduce the first match and Jake Something, The Good Hands interrupt. They confront D’Amore over his being a roadblock for them in Impact. Jason Hotch telegraphs the impending beatdown so D’Amore takes his jacket off and puts them in a match with Rich Swann & Sami Callihan right now. (Something faces Kevin Knight later tonight)

Match 1: Sami Callihan & Rich Swann beat The Good Hands. Swann pinned Jason Hotch.

Bullet Club promo post-Slammiversary. They get their Impact World Tag Team Title rematch tonight. Raskalz interrupt and try to start something so Bullet Club starts a fight but security quickly breaks it up as D’Amore storms in. He ejects Raskalz just as Johnny Swinger & Zicky Dice show up. D’Amore changes the gimmick so that if Swinger wins just one match instead of 50 he gets a title shot. He just has to beat Dice and if he doesn’t, he has to leave Impact. Then D’Amore changes it to Loser Leaves Impact (fired).

Eric Young interviewed backstage. Nick Aldis interrupts. He tries to recruit young in his war against certain unnamed people in the promotion. Young instead talks Aldis into a match and Aldis accepts.

Match 2: Jake Something beat Kevin Knight.

Match 3: Courtney Rush beat Savannah Evans. Lots of interference from Gisele Shaw, Jai Vidal & Death Dollz.

Match 5: Impact World Tag Team Champions Subculture beat Ace Austin & Chris Bey to retain the titles. Mark Andres pinned Chris Bey with a rollup. Despite being ejected earlier, Raskalz interfered late behind the ref’s back.

Replay of X Division Championship match at Slammiversary. No update on Chris Sabin.

Josh Alexander comes out for the main event segment. He cuts a long, deep promo and says he’s fully cleared to compete and is going after the Impact World Championship he had to vacate due to injury. After Alexander calls him out, Alex Shelley comes out. Challenge accepted, but then Lio Rush comes out. He hints at exercising Option C to become the Impact World Champion. This brings out KUSHIDA, who earned an Impact X Division title shot when he wants by winning Ultimate X at Slammiversary. He says No Option C until he cashes in his title shot. And now for whatever reason Bully Ray comes out. Then Moose & Brian Myers sneak into the ring and the beatdown is on. Moose holds the X and Bully tells Rush to take a belt shot on KUSHIDA but Rush bails instead and KUSHIDA gets laid out again as we cut away to end the show.

Today’s event was held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 389. Sounds close to a full house/near sellout as that’s just under 80% of max capacity.

AEW Dynamite 7/19/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Boston, MA:

Because of the main event being BLOOD & GUTS and the complex setup requiring 2 rings to be completed ahead of time, the 2 ring setup will be in place for all matches tonight as well as the post-show Rampage taping.

Before intros Jungle Boy was seemingly buried and he came out wearing a black biker jacket & matching black leather pants, introduced as just Jack Perry. So apparently Jungle Boy is dead and Perry is now a full heel.
Result: Jack Perry beat FTW Champion Hook to become THE NEW FTW CHAMPION! First loss for Hook. Heel tactics by using a title belt shot after a ref bump and slow count to win.

Match 2: Britt Baker vs. TBA. TBA is Kayla Sparks. This was just added during match 1
Result: Britt Baker beat Kayla Sparks by submission. Squash.

Match 3: Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament Finals: MJF & Adam Cole vs. Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara
Result: MJF & Adam Cole beat Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara to win the tournament. MJF pinned Garcia. As a result, MJF & Cole will face AEW Tag Team Champions FTR for the titles on the 7/29 Collision. FTR came out for the staredown to start the build.

BLOOD & GUTS will begin after the current commercial. They will have pretty much the entire second hour so plan on the match going a minimum of 45 minutes.

Your opinion of this show will largely depend on your opinion of Blood & Guts (I thought it delivered as advertised). For me it made this episode perhaps the best one of the year although they’ll come up with something huge for the New York City return in September. Everything else was good and the opening match will send the Hook-Perry feud nuclear. The tag team match was great comedy. I am very curious about where Hook goes from here now that he’s no longer unbeaten.
