New Japan Pro Wrestling “WRESTLE KINGDOM 20” LIVE Results (1/4/2026) (Updated x3)

The biggest annual event in Japanese pro wrestling and maybe the biggest in the world after WWE WrestleMania, New Japan’s 1/4 signature event, WRESTLE KINGDOM 20, is finally today. The biggest event in the series will be a very melancholy event and one perhaps some have secvretly been dreading as the promotion says goodbye to perhaps their greatest ever, Hiroshi Tanahashi, who will retire after today. He’s not really leaving as he will remain in his second job as President of New Japan Pro Wrestling, 3rd in command in the promotion (behind Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi and Bushiroad Corporation President Takaaki Kitani-Bushiroad is the owner of New Japan), but for the first time in more than 25 years he won’t be a wrestler, marking the end of a career that has seen him become a once a century generational talent-imagine RIc Flair, Hulk Hogan & John Cena all rolled into one. It’s about so much more than that, with several title matches including Stardom being featured in a double title match, the debut of highly-touted Aaron Wolf and much more, but the focus is largely on the main event as Tanahashi’s final match comes against one of his greatest rivals and who perhaps was going to be the future torch-bearer for the promotion: Kazuchika Okada, who left for All Elite Wrestling but returns today for one glorious finale. (A lot of internet fans thought it would be-and should be-Shinsuke Nakamura instead, but there was zero chance of that because Nakamura is in WWE and New Japan has a working relationship with AEW. That’s Not Best For Business)

Today’s event will be held at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE & EXCLUSIVE OUTSIDE JAPAN ONLY on New Japan World in Japanese & English (no Triller/FITE or anywhere else). This is a live & exclusive TV Asahi broadcast in Japan, which the NJPW World feed will be a simulcast of. The event is a legit advance sellout. The start time has been moved up 30 minutes for a pre-show match. This is also perhaps the promotoin’s longest event of the year even with only 8 matches scheduled but 6 are title matches, and if you’re watching live in the US it’s an all-nighter as the running time will probably be 4 1/2-5 hours, maybe longer depending on how much of an epic send-off Tanahashi gets-and gives-us as there surely will be one final air guitar concert to send the crowd home happy (hopefully). I may not make it through it despite it being a 10:30 PM start for me but I’ve hopefully got enough caffeine to push through. If updates suddenly stop near the end, I didn’t make it through and will update the results after a few hours’ sleep.

Today’s lineup:
Pre-show:
NJPW WORLD TV Champion El Phantasmo vs. Chris Brookes for the title
Main show:
8 team 24-man battle royal for the NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Championship. When one wrestler is eliminated, his entire team is out. Last team left wins. Current Champions Yoh, Master Wato & Toru Yano are participating

Hiromu Takahashi, Gabriel Kidd, Drilla Moloney, David Finlay & Shingo Takagi vs. HENARE, Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan, Andrade El Idolo & TBA

Updates below will begin at 10:30 PM PT/1:30 AM ET. The main card is scheduled to begin at 11 PM PT/2 AM ET.

Pre-Show Update; There has been a late addition of a pre-pre-show match added to the event: Shoma Kato & Tatsuya Matsumoto vs. Katsuya Murashima & Masatora Yasuda. Because of this, updates will now begin at 10:15 PM PT/1:15 AM ET.

10:15 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata (remotely, presumably at Korakuen Hall still as Tokyo Josih Pro’s evnt he called for WRESTLE UNIVERSE finished less than an hour ago) & Milano Collection A.T. No guest on commentary yet.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. It’s a legit advance sellout but it’s not the full capacity Dome, which is 65,000 for baseball. I’m thinking it’ll be around 50,000. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance-a legit advance sellout with standing room included-was 46,913. That’s about 70% of normal Dome capacity)

Pre-pre-show match: Shoma Kato & Tatsuya Matsumoto vs. Katsuya Murashima & Masatora Yasuda. 10 minute time limit
Result: Katsuya Murashima & Masatora Yasuda beat Shoma Kato & Tetauya Matsumoto. Murashima beat Matsumoto with a modified Boston Crab.

We go right into the pre-show afterwards so it’s starting 5 minutes early. By the way, no free YouTube opening simulcast today. But the next match will be available on demand FOR FREE on YouTube at some point after the event.

Pre-show:
Pre-show match: NJPW WORLD TV Champion El Phantasmo vs. Chris Brookes (DDT) for the title. 15 minute time limit. DDT wrestler Super Sasadango Machine (Muscle Sakai) and a member of BALLISTIK BOYZ are guests on commentary for this match
Result: NJPW WORLD TV Champion El Phantasmo beat Chris Brookes to retain the title. V6 for Phantasmo.

End Pre-show. Updates will resume when the main portion of the event begins in about 15 minutes. The live stream will resume at that time.

Main show:
This event is airing in Japan as the premiere of WORLD PRO WRESTLING LIVE 2026 on TV Asahi. New host on commentary.

Match 1: 8 team 24-man battle royal for the NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Championship. When one wrestler is eliminated, his entire team is out. Last team left wins. No time limit. Staggered entry. Order of entry: Kaisei Takechi/Yuya Uemura/Shota Umino, Yoshinobu Kanemaru/Ren Narita/SANADA, Clark Connors/OSKAR (The Grouch)/Yuto Ice (Ice Baby (with Thekla, who is married to Connors), Zack Sabre Jr/Ryohei Oiwa/Hartley Jackson, Togi Makabe/Ryusuke Taguchi/Tiger Mask (final Tokyo Dome for TM 4 as he is retiring in the next few months), Hirooki Goto/YOSHI-HASHI/Boltin Oleg, Tomohiro Ishii/Taichi/Satoshi Kojima, NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Champions Master Wato/Yoh/Toru Yano
Order of elimination: OSKAR (Connors/OSKAR/Ice out), TM 4 (Makabe/Taguchi/TM 4 out), Taichi (Taichi/Ishii/Kojima out), Uemura (Uemura/Umino/Takechi out), Yoh (Wato/Yoh/Yano out-that means whoever wins will be NEW CHAMPIONS), SANADA (Kanemaru/SANADA/Narita out), Oleg (YOSHI-HASHI/Goto/Oleg out)
Result: Ryohei Oiwa, Hartley Jackson & Zack Sabre Jr. win, last eliminating Oleg/YOSHI-HASHI/Goto, to win the titles. Oiwa, Jackson & Sabre become the 32nd NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Champions.
As Ishii/Taichi/Kojima entered, cameras caught sumo wrestler & Yokozuna Grand Champion Onosato sitting at ringside.

Host change as Haruo Murata is back on Japanese commentary. Might be alternating today. Stardom wrestler Maika is a guest on commentary for the next match.

Match 2: IWGP Women’s Champion Syuri (Stardom) vs. STRONG Women’s Champion Saya Kamitani (Stardom) for the titles. 1 Hour time limit. Stardom’s ring announcer handles the introductions here
Result: Syuri beat Saya Kamitani to win the titles. Syuri becomes the 7th STRONG Women’s Champion. IWGP V1 for Syuri.

Match 3: Hiromu Takahashi, Gabriel Kidd, Drilla Moloney, David Finlay & Shingo Takagi vs. HENARE, Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan, Andrade El Idolo (who the English announcer billed as from AEW) & TBA. TBA is revealed to be…Jake Lee! 30 minute time limit
Result: HENARE, Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan, Andrade El Idolo & Jake Lee beat Hiromu Takahashi, Gabriel Kidd, Drilla Moloney, David Finlay & Shingo Takagi. Lee pinned Takahashi. Afterwards, another mystery man wearing Andrade’s mask appeared, and revealed himself to be the returning Francesco Akira who then laid out Takahashi.

Yoh is the guest on commentary for the next match.

Match 4: El Desperado vs. Taiji Ishimori, Sho & Kosei Fujita in a 4-way for an IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship shot. 1 Hour time limit
Before anyone entered, IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion DOUKI came out. With microphone in the ring. A few words amidst heaby boos before intros began.
Result: El Desperado beat Taiji Ishimori, Sho & Kosei Fujita in a 4-way by pinning Sho. As a result, Desperado gets the next IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship shot. No surprise, Desperado always wins at Tokyo Dome, or so it seems.

Afterwards, a short promo was shown for the next DESPE INVITATIONAL event…4/16 in Las Vegas, NV. This was followed by a promo video for upcoming major events in 2026 including the New Japan Cup in March, SAKURA GENESIS on 4/4 at Ryogoku Kokugikan, WRESTLING REDZONE in HIROSHIMA on 4/25, WRESTLING DONTAKU on 5/3 & 5/4 in Fukuoka, Best Of The Super Junior, DOMINION on 6/14 in Osaka, the G1 CLIMAX opener in the USA on 7/11 at NOW Arena in Chicago, IL followed by the Finals on 8/15 & 8/16 at Ryogoku Kokugikan.

The guests on commentary for the next match are Yano, Yuji Nagata and…Masahiro Chono!

Match 5: Aaron Wolf Debut Match: NEVER Openweight Champion EVIL vs. Aaron Wolf for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: Aaron Wolf beat NEVER Openweight Champion EVIL by ref stoppage (technical submission) to win the title. Wolf becomes the 50th NEVER Openweight Champion.

Quick break for ring cleaning.

Match 6: IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita vs. IWGP Global Champion Yota Tsuji for the titles. 1 Hour time limit
Result: Yota Tsuji beat Konosuke Takeshita by submission to win the titles. Tsuji becomes the 15th IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. Global V2 for Tsuji. Tsuji’s post-match promo was interrupted by Jake Lee, who beat down the new double champion and silently seemed to issue the challenge, at least for the World title.

That means the time has come…

Main Event: Hiroshi Tanahashi Retirement Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada. 1 Hour time limit
Result: Kazuchika Okada beat Hiroshi Tanahashi. And after 30+ intense minutes, it’s all over. 25+ years of Hiroshi Tanahashi ends with a loss to one of his greatest rivals. Now he will transition to President full-time. The retirement ceremony for Tanahashi followed (will watch later as after 9 hours of wrestling I have to throw in the towel). Several former New Japan wrestlers were present for flower presentations including Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Kota Ibushi (hobbling badly alongside Omega), Katsuyori Shibata (who traded some chops with Tanahashi), Keiji Muto, of course Tatsumi Fujinami and, in a big surprise, BUSHI & Tetsuya Naito. The final 10 bell salute followed and Tanahashi rightfully took his time leaving, including being pushed out on a rolling platform by the Young Lions as the festivities went on for about an hour. Now he is President Ace but always FOREVER ACE.

The next event is NEW YEAR DASH!! tomorrow at Ota City General Gym. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at 1:30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET. (The original post incorrectly said the event was at Korakuen Hall. Why I should not be posting at 3 AM)

UPDATE: In non-Dome news, there was a STRONG Tag Team Championship match this weekend in CMLL in Mexico, in which current champions Angel De Oro & Niebla Roja beat Jorel Nelson & Royce Isaacs to retain he titles. V1 for the champs.

You can also watch the full backstage comments from today, including highlights of Tanahashi’s retirement ceremony and his final epic air guitar performance to send the crowd home happy, FOR FREE on YouTube.

UPDATE 2: The full card for tomorrow is set now, and for now there is a hilarious typo on New Japan’s English website. Take a look at the screencap below about the main event and see for yourself…

Last I checked, that’s not Yota Tsuji pictured there with Ryohei Oiwa…Tsuji is to be in an 8-man tag earlier in the card. Before the main event, there is also a 4-way for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship.

UPDATE 3: You can now watch the full Phantasmo-Brookes match FOR FREE on YouTube via the NJPW WORLD Official channel.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling “2026” 1/4/2026 LIVE Results

January 4, or Ittenyon in Japanese, is the biggest day of pro wrestling annually in the country. While it’s mainly about Tokyo Dome, it also sees Tokyo Joshi Pro begin the day with their signature year-opening event, “Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling 2026”. It’s a blowout event with 3 title matches, an annual traditional single match and plenty more in between. The traditional single match is a bit wacky this year…the match itself is Shoko Nakajima vs. Hyper Misao. The wacky part is this time it’s a TJPW Horse Princess Cup Match-instead of a traditional match, there will be three wrestlers “racing” around the venue making 3 laps through the crowd. The first to finish wins for a specific wrestler, but Nakajima & Misao can freely interfere in the racers’ paths. There will be no pinfalls, submissions, countouts or DQs. There are also bonus prizes for fans who participate in a related lottery and pick the winning “horse”. That aside, the 3 title matches start with International Princess Champion Arisu Endo defending the title against MIRAI, who bounced around last year starting in Marigold then leaving for Michinoku Pro and now coming to TJPW. The second title match has Princess Tag Team Champions Yuki Kamifuku & Wakana Uehara defending the titles against Yuki Aino & Haru Kazashiro, while the main event will be Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe vs. Suzume for the title. If Suzume can win the title, she will become the 3rd wrestler in TJPW history to become a Triple Crown Champion, having held all 3 of the promotion’s championships. The other two? Watanabe and Rika Tatsumi. Finally, OG roster member Yuka Sakazaki, currently with All Elite Wrestling, makes her latest long-awaited return to the promotion for a special 6-woman tag match. Oh, 3 title matches? Actually perhaps 4 because a DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Championship match is scheduled but that always comes with the 24/7 “subject to change” caveat.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese & English. J-Pop idol Momo Sakurai will be a special guest on Japanese commentary. Kira Summer will be on English commentary after her match. The event is a legit advance sellout although standing room only tickets will be sold today. Based on the time limits for the card and being 9 matches with no intermission, the total running time should wind up being around a “standard” Korakuen event of 2 1/2 hours but not more than 3 hours, meaning there will be plenty of time to get ready for Tokyo Dome (at least 90 minutes).

Today’s lineup:
Shion Kanzaki Debut Match: Uta Takami & Chika Nanase vs. Ren Konatsu & Shion Kanzaki
Yuna Manase & Toga vs. HIMAWARI & Kira Summer
DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion Mahiro Kiryu vs. Aja Kong, Rika Tatsumi & Shino Suzuki in a 4-way for the title
Shoko Nakajima vs. Hyper Misao in a TJPW Horse Princess Cup Match. See above for rules
Miyu Yamashita & Kaya Toribami vs. J-ROD & Mifu Ashida
Yuka Sakazaki, Mizuki & Yuki Arai vs. Max The Impaler, Pom Harajuku & Raku
International Princess Champion Arisu Endo vs. MIRAI for the title
Princess Tag Team Champions Yuki Kamifuku & Wakana Uehara vs. Yuki Aino & Haru Kazashiro for the titles
Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe vs. Suzume for the title

Updates below will begin at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET. The live stream is scheduled to begin 20 minutes before the event.

Pre-show Update: The live stream start has been pushed back 5 minutes and will now be 15 minutes before the event begins. Also, there may be an emergency change of ring announcer today as Rise Shirai posted on social media that she suffered minor injuries in a fall at her home today. Mostly bruises and a chipped front tooth. We’ll find out.
Also, the WRESTLE UNIVERSE video page is listing the Iron Man 4-way as a regular 3-way with no Suzuki. Nothing on social media about any changes, the only thing so far is an apology about many supporter towels not being available for sale at the venue due to shipping issues.

5:45 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata, Kagehiro Osano, Sayoko Mita & special guest Momo Sakurai. Your English host is Mr. Haku, to be joined later by Kira Summer.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. It’s a legit advance sellout with standing room only tickets sold today, so the number will depend on the setup. It’s going to be closer to “new noemal” full capacity today which is around 1500 (the pre-pandemic full capacity was 2350 but normally was 2100) but maybe a little less. With standing room I’ll predict around 1400. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 1564. That would suggest a lot of standing room tickets were sold but based on what I saw this may be a little inflated)

The matches should begin in 25-30 minutes. Rise Shirai is good to go as ring announcer while referee Fumirin is also there to provide English translation for visiting foreign fans during opening announcements. And good news today-STREAMERS!!!
They also announced NEXT YEAR’S installment of this event. 1/4/2027 at Korakuen so start planning now!

Up Up Girls time…false alarm about Shino Suzuki. She’s goof to go so UNIVERSE’s website match listing is wrong.

The matches begin at 6:12 PM PT/9:12 PM ET.

Match 1: Shion Kanzaki Debut Match: Uta Takami & Chika Nanase vs. Ren Konatsu & Shion Kanzaki. 20 minute time limit
Result: Uta Takami & Chika Nanase beat Ren Konatsu & Shion Kanzaki. Takami beat Kanzaki with Koala Clutch.

Match 2: Yuna Manase (Ganbare Pro) & Toga vs. HIMAWARI & Kira Summer. 20 minute time limit
Result: Yuna Manase & Toga beat HIMAWARI & Kira Summer. Toga pinned Summer after Rock Bottom.

Match 3: DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion Mahiro Kiryu vs. Aja Kong, Rika Tatsumi & Shino Suzuki in a 4-way for the title. 20 minute time limit
Result: Aja Kong beat DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion Mahiro Kiryu, Rika Tatsumi & Shino Suzuki in a 4-way by pinning Suzuki to win the title. Kong becomes the 1791st Champion. Which led to…
Mahiro Kiryu beat DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion Aja Kong ot win the title. Kiryu becomes the 1792nd Champion. Both Kiryu & Tatsumi pinned Kong together, but Kiryu was declared champion due to being underneath Tatsumi. Ugh…opportunities always wasted by putting it right back on Kiryu…

A character called Minimo-Chan is brought out. I think this is supposed to be an announcement related to GRAND PRINCESS ’26. And it is…Debut Match on 3/29!?! Mari Yaguchi, a former member of J-Pop girl group Morning Musume, will be there as a supporter.

Match 4: Shoko Nakajima vs. Hyper Misao in a TJPW Horse Princess Cup Match. Instead of a traditional match, there will be three wrestlers “racing” around the venue making 3 laps through the crowd. The first to finish wins for a specific wrestler, but Nakajima & Misao can freely interfere in the racers’ paths. There will be no pinfalls, submissions, countouts or DQs. 15 minute time limit. The “racers” are Uta Takami, Ren Konatsu & Shion Kanzaki
During the match…
Hyper Misao’s Bicycle beat DDT Iron Man Heavymetalweight Champion Mahiro Kiryu to win the title. Bicycle becomes the 1792nd Champion.
Result: Ren Konatsu “won”. That apparently meant neither wins. After that in the confusion…
Mahiro Kiryu beat DDT Iron man Heavymetalweight Champion Hyper Misao’s Bicycle to win the title. Kiryu becomes the 1793rd Champion.

Match 5: Miyu Yamashita & Kaya Toribami vs. J-ROD & Mifu Ashida. 20 minute time limit
Result: Miyu Yamashita & Kaya Toribami beat J-ROH & Mifu Ashida. Toribami pinned Ashida after Tenshoryu (middle rope moonsault press).

Match 6: Yuka Sakazaki, Mizuki & Yuki Arai vs. Max The Impaler, Pom Harajuku & Raku. 20 minute time limit
Result: Yuka Sakazaki, Mizuki & Yuki Arai beat Max The Impaler, Pom Harajuku & Raku. Arai pinned Harajuku after a brainbuster. Interesting.

Quick break for ring repairs.

Match 7: International Princess Champion Arisu Endo vs. MIRAI (Michinoku Pro) for the title. 30 minute time limit
Result: MIRAI beat International Princess Champion Arisu Endo to win the title. MIRAI becomes the 16th International Princess Champion. Next up: Toga. I’m sure a lot of fans have been waiting for this moment, myself included. Toga has had breakout star written all over her since her debut, and the last few months it’s felt like she’s been on the verge and just was waiting for that chance. It may have just come.

Match 8: Princess Tag Team Champions Yuki Kamifuku & Wakana Uehara vs. Yuki Aino & Haru Kazashiro for the titles. 30 minute time limit
Result: Princess Tag Team Champions Yuki Kamifuku & Wakana Uehara beat Yuki Aino & Haru Kazashiro to retain the titles. Uehara beat Kazashiro with Banana Pillow. V3 for the champs.

Main Event: Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe vs. Suzume for the title. 30 minute time limit
Result: Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe beat Suzume to retain the title. V4 for Watanabe. But I thought Suzume was going to win it after brilliantly countering a Teardrop attempt with Ring A Bell near the 20 minute mark…but it wasn’t enough. Next up: TBD on Saturday with the match happening at GRAND PRINCESS ’26.

The next event is Saturday at Shinjuku Face. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin Friday at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET.

Post-event note: It turns out that former TJPW wrestler Nao Kakuta did a live watch party stream with commentary during the event and was joined by fellow former wrestler Yoshiko Hasegawa. The replay of this is available FOR FREE on YouTube on Kakuta’s new channel so check it our for a fun way to watch the replay if you have two screens to make it work.

All-Japan Pro Wrestling 1/3/2026 LIVE Results (Updated)

All-Japan runs the second half of their year-opening New Year doubleheader today in Tokyo. There are 2 title matches today, one of which was further hyped yesterday and that’s the main event, where Atsuki Aoyagi defends the All-Japan World Junior Heavyweight Championship against KURAMA, the latest masked independent outsider to step up to take a big-time shot. The second semifinal sees the just-returned Daisuke Sekimoto challenge Shotaro Ashino in a potential hoss fight for the GAORA TV Championship.

There has been a last-minute change to the originally annoucned card for today: After they were announced as part of the upcoming Zennichi Jr. Festival tag team tournament, Naruki Doi & Kota Sekifuda have been added to the first match, which originally was a 6-man tag match. It’s now an 8-man tag.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on AJPW.TV in Japanese. There are just 6 matches today with the intermission coming at the halfway point, so even though there are 2 title matches I expect the running time to be about the same as yesterday, in the range of 2 1/2-3 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Yuko Miyamoto, Fuminori Abe, Seigo Tachibana & Kota Sekifuda vs. Rising Hayato, Dan Tamura, Shota Kofuji & Naruki Doi
Hokuto Omori, Kumaarashi & Cyrus vs. MUSASHI, Seiki Yoshioka & Ryo Inoue
Hideki Suzuki, Kengo Mashimo & Hikaru Sato vs. Xyon, Odyssey & Go Shiozaki
Intermission
Ren Ayabe, Talos & Yuma Anzai vs. Kento Miyahara, Jun Saito & Ryuki Honda
GAORA TV Champion Shotaro Ashino vs. Daisuke Sekimoto for the title
All-Japan World Junior Heavyweight Champion Atsuki Aoyagi vs. KURAMA for the title

Updates below will begin at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET. The live stream is scheduled to begin shortly before the event.

6:26 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Commentary will start in a few minutes.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Advance sales looked to be on par with yesterday and the crowd is still filing in but looks a little less than yesterday so far. Yesterday wound up doing 1270 so I’ll guess close to that today, roughly 1250. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 1205)

Opening announcements start with the announcement of today’s opening match change and a preview of the title matches. Rei Saito is then brought out and the next Triple Crown challenger for Kento Miyahara is announced-Talos. That match will happen on 1/25 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba.

The matches begin at 6:35 PM PT/9:35 PM ET. Your hosts are Shocichi Nakamoto & Rei Saito.

Match 1: Yuko Miyamoto, Fuminori Abe, Seigo Tachibana & Kota Sekifuda vs. Rising Hayato, Dan Tamura, Shota Kofuji & Naruki Doi. 30 minute time limit
Result: Yuko Miyamoto, Fuminori Abe, Seigo Tachibana & Kota Sekifuda beat Rising Hayato, Dan Tamura, Shota Kofuji & Naruki Doi. Tachibana pinned Kofuji after Yankee Hammer.

Match 2: Hokuto Omori, Kumaarashi & Cyrus vs. MUSASHI, Seiki Yoshioka & Ryo Inoue. 30 minute time limit
Result: Hokuto Omori, Kumaarashi & Curys beat MUSASHI, Seiki Yoshioka & Ryo Inoue. Cyrus pinned Inoue after a diving body splash. Afterwards, MUSASHI & Yoshioka continued fighting each other outside the ring.

Match 3: Hideki Suzuki, Kengo Mashimo & Hikaru Sato vs. Xyon, Odyssey & Go Shiozaki. 30 minute time limit
Result: Xyon, Odyssey & Go Shiozaki beat Hideki Suzuki, Kengo Mashimo & Hikaru Sato. Xyon pinned Sato after a diving headbutt.

Rei Saito returns to the ring. He announced what I’m guessing (and hoping) is his return date. And it’s already official via All-Japan’s website…February 23 at Ota City General Gym. DOOM!!!

Intermission.

It was also announced that all events this month will be live on AJPW.TV with on demand afterwards.

UPDATE: After unmasking voluntarily during the match, KURAMA was revealed to be Yasutaka Yano. Tokyo Sports reports he was fired by Pro Wrestling NOAH after being charged with forced obscenity with a woman in Sendai in 2023, possibly the equivalent of sexual battery in the US. A settlement was reached and he was not charged. He resumed bis wrestling career last year in Mexico as KURAMA.

The announced paid attendance was 468, a legit advance sellout.

All-Japan Pro Wrestling 1/2/2026 LIVE Results

All-Japan kicks off their 2026 today with the first half of their year-opening New Year’s doubleheader in Tokyo. It’s a major event spread over two days starting with a title match today as the All-Japan World Tag Team Championship as Talos & Ren Ayabe get their rematch with Xyon & Odyssey as their reward for winning the World’s Strongest/Real World Tag League, this time for the titles, then the main event will be the annual year-opening battle royal with everyone participating. They also promise to introduce new roster members-whether this means rookies or free agents, we’ll find out.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on AJPW.TV in Japanese. This will also be taped for broadcast on Samurai! TV in Japan at a later date. Even with the title match and battle royal (oddly the intermission won’t be before the main event) I sill anticipate this being in the “standard” Korakuen running time range of 2 1/2-3 hours, closer to 3 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Go Shiozaki vs. Shota Kofuji
Hideki Suzuki, Kengo Mashimo & Hikaru Sato vs. Hokuto Omori, Kumaarashi & Cyrus
Atsuki Aoyagi & Rising Hayato vs. KURAMA & MAZADA
Kento Miyahara, Jun Saito, MUSASHI & Seiki Yoshioka vs. Yuma Anzai, Ryuki Honda, Shotaro Ashino & Dan Tamura
Intermission
Daisuke Sekimoto vs. Ryo Inoue
All-Japan World Tag Team Champions Xyon & Odyssey vs. Ren Ayabe & Talos for the titles
New Year’s Battle Royal

Updates below will begin at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET. The live stream is scheduled to begin just before the event starts.

6:25 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Commentary will start when the matches begin.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. It’s a regular weekday morning in Japan and advance ticket sales seem to reflect that, probably not going to be a sellout. But it should still be a decent crowd, I’ll guess based on so far it’ll be around 1000. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 1240)

Opening announcements begin just after we go live. Commentary begins after the opening call by the ring announcer. After this, the roster comes out to the ring for the annual new year’s greeting to the crowd. Kento Miyahara led this as the President of the wrestlers’ group. During this, he announced that Shota Kofuji has joined the promotion and he came out. Kofuji had been competing as a freelancer and a member of a smaller independent promotion. That makes two official cat people in the promotion along with Hideki Suzuki, who Kofuji has had some fun Twitter bantering with the last few months. Then Shotaro Ashino interrupted and brought out Go Shiozaki, who actually joined the promotion late last year. But now he gets the official year-opening introduction. After years of being NOAH, he is now All-Japan. (UPDATE: Kofuji will also remain a member of the small OSW promotion in addition to All-Japan. Both moves are official as of yesterday) Kofuji just finished his rookie year on Christmas Day.

One correction to the lineup from the opening video for Match 3-it’s MAZADA but on AJPW’s website incorrectly says it’s “Mazda”.

The matches begin at 6:42 PM PT/9:42 PM ET. Rei Saito is a guest on commentary alongside the solo announcer.

Match 1: All-Japan Pro Wrestling 2026 Opening Match: Go Shiozaki vs. Shota Kofuji. 30 minute time limit
Result: Go Shiozaki beat Shota Kofuji

Match 2: Hideki Suzuki (who went crazy attacking the cameramen around the ring with a towel during his entrance), Kengo Mashimo & Hikaru Sato vs. Hokuto Omori, Kumaarashi & Cyrus. 30 minute time limit
Result: Hokuto Omori, Kumarashi & Cyrus beat Hideki Suzuki, Kengo Mashimo & Hikaru Sato. Kumaarashi pinned Sato.

Match 3: Atsuki Aoyagi & Rising Hayato vs. KURAMA & MAZADA (Independent/Freelancers). 30 minute time limit
Result: Atsuki Aoyagi & Rising Hayato beat KURAMA & MAZADA. Aoyagi pinned KURAMA.

Match 4: Kento Miyahara, Jun Saito, MUSASHI & Seiki Yoshioka vs. Yuma Anzai, Ryuki Honda, Shotaro Ashino & Dan Tamura. 30 minute time limit
Result: Kento Miyahara, Jun Saito, MUSASHI & Seiki Yoshioka beat Yuma Anzai, Ryuki Honda, Shotaro Ashino & Dan Tamura. Miyahara pinned Tamura with a shutdown suplex hold.

Intermission.

The matches resume at 7:57 PM PT/10:57 PM PT (about a 12 minute break).

Match 5: Daisuke Sekimoto vs. Ryo Inoue. 30 minute time limit
Result: Daisuke Sekimoto beat Ryo Inoue

Match 6: All-Japan World Tag Team Champions Xyon & Odyssey vs. Ren Ayabe & Talos for the titles. 1 Hour time limit
Result: Ren Ayabe & Talos beat All-Japan World Tag Team Champions Xyon & Odyssey to win the titles. Ayabe & Talos become the 103rd All-Japan World Tag Team Champions. Talos pinned Xyon after a double chokeslam. Afterwards, during the post-match victory promo, Talos called out Miyahara. A mix of Japanese, English and comedy that almost ended with Miyahara getting a double chokeslam. I think the gist of all this is a Triple Crown challenge by Talos.

Promo video for the All-Asia Tag Team Championship fallout from 12/31 when the Dragon Gate duo of Yoshiki Kato & ISHIN won the titles. Of note: New video game background music-in 2025 it was a remix of the theme from “Space Harrier”. 2026? A remix of “Splash Wave” from fellow mid-1980s Sega & Yu Suzuki icon “Outrun”. The video is an announcement of the 2026 All-Japan Jr. Tag Festival Tournament, to be held over 4 events in February & March with 8 participating teams. The participating teams: Atsuki Aoyagi & Rising Hayato, Dan Tamura & Hikaru Sato, Naruki Doi & Senor Saito, Fuminori ABe & Seigo Tachibana, Kota Sekifuda & Toshiyuki Sakuda, Seiki Yoshioka & Yuya Susumu, MUSASHI & Shota Kofuji, Ryo Inoue & Mochizuki Junior. It will be a single-elimination bracket tournament. The Quarterfinals are 2/15 & 2/23, Semifinals on 3/15 and Finals on 3/20.

Main Event: New Year Battle Royal. Everyone in at the start. Over the top rope, pinfall and submission eliminations
Result: Yuma Anzai won, last eliminating Shota Kofuji. Mainly a comedy match but a very entertaining one that even saw Ryuki Honda get eliminated by the referee and the referee then get eliminated by Atsuki Aoyagi despite some impressive acrobatics beforehand. Miyahara, you wonder? Second-to-last elimination by Kofuji.

The second event is tomorrow. Live streaming on AJPW.TV will begin at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET.

Pro Wrestling NOAH “NOAH THE NEW YEAR 2026” LIVE Results (1/1/2026) (Updated)

While it’s not the first event in Japan in the New Year, Pro Wrestling NOAH kicks off 2026 today with their annual New Year’s Day blowout event, NOAH THE NEW YEAR 2026. The main event is an interesting GHC Heavyweight Championship match between Yoshiki Inamura & OZAWA. Representing the future of the promotion, it’s a rematch of late 2022 when then-Taishi Ozawa made his debut against a much different Inamura, who was struggling to make the mid-card before beginning a pair of training excursions, most recently to WWE as part of NXT and came back with a new look, some decent English and now the top title while OZAWA recently returned from injury and teased a face turn but still seems to solidly be Team 2000X going in, we shall see. Almost every other GHC Championship will also be defended today and there’s even a title match from Europe’s Progress Wrestling to round out a massive card along with a surprise appearance in one title match-the net seems to think it could be the NOAH debut of one Tetsuya Naito and I concur, but we must wait and see…

Today’s event will be held at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in English only. This is a live & exclusive ABRMA broadcast in Japan, which will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese a short time after the event (with Akitoshi Saito on commentary among others). The 9 match lineup features 6 title matches so this will be a New Year’s all-nighter/morninger depending on where you are with a predicted running time in the 4-5 hour range.

Today’s lineup (match order TBA):
Masa Kitamiya, Takashi Sugiura, Tadasuke & Jun Masaoka vs. Kazuhuki Fujita, Minoru Suzuki, Junta Miyawaki & Shuhei Taniguchi
KENTA, HAYATA, Tetsuya Endo & Ulka Sasaki vs. Atsushi Kotoge, Mohammed Yone, Hajime Ohara & Hi69
Kaito Kiyomiya & Jack Morris vs. Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows
Progress Atlas Champion Will Kroos. vs. Saxon Huxley for the title
GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Daga & Daiki Odashima vs. Alejandro & Kai Fujimura and Eita & Shuji Kondo in a 3-way for the titles
GHC National Champion Dragon Bane vs. Alpha Wolf for the title
GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Naomichi Marufuni & Kenoh vs. BUSHI & TBA for the titles
GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi vs. AMAKUSA for the title
GHC Heavyweight Champion Yoshiki Inamura vs. OZAWA for the title

Updates below will begin at 10 PM PT/1 AM ET. The live stream is scheduled to begin 30 minutes before the event. (Pre-show Update: The stream start time, as of 5 PM PT/8 PM ET, has now been pushed back 10 minutes and will now begin 20 minutes before the event)

9:40 PM PT UPDATE: The live stream has begun. We should be going to the venue in about 10 minutes. The UNIVERSE pre-start screen indicates the start time has been moved up to 9:50 PM PT/12:50 AM ET. It also suggests the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship 3-way will be the opening match.

9:50 PM PT UPDATE: The ABEMA stream probably started now but the UNIVERSE stream has to wait a little longer.

10 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Nippon Budokan in Toyo, Jpaan. Commentary will begin shortly when the first match starts.

The paid attendance will be announced after the vent. The venue’s normal full capacity for wrestling events is roughly 8400 but I imagine they’re using a smaller setup and it clearly isn’t a sellout. Hoping it’s a good crowd, I’m guessing the setup will be for closer to 6000 and I’ll make a best-case guess of 4000 for today. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 6278)

We join right before the opening video & match card announcement. Leaning heavily into Yoshiki Inamura’s cowboy-themed persona now.

The matches begin at 10:05 PM PT/1:05 AM ET. Your hosts are the returning Stewart (BANG! Back at last!) Fulton, Mark Pickering & Mike Shroudner.

Match 1: GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Daga & Daiki Odashima vs. Alejandro & Kai Fujimura and Eita & Shuji Kondo in a 3-way for the titles. 1 Hour time limit
Result: GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Daga & Daiki Odashima beat Alejandro & Kai Fujimura and Eita & Shuji Kondo in a 3-way, when Odashima pinned Alejandro, to retain the titles. V2 for the champs.

Match 2: Masa Kitamiya, Takashi Sugiura, Tadasuke & Jun Masaoka (Independent/Freelancer) vs. Kazuhuki Fujita, Minoru Suzuki, Junta Miyawaki & Shuhei Taniguchi. 30 minute (?) time limit
Result: Masa Kitamiya, Takashi Sugiura, Tadasuke & Jun Masaoka beat Kazuyuki Fujita, Minoru Suzuki, Junta Miyawaki & Shuhei Taniguchi. Kitamiya beat Miyawaki with Stranglehold y.

Match 3: Progress Atlas Champion Will Kroos. vs. Saxon Huxley for the title. A nice pre-match surprise as Huxley was seconded by the injured YO-HEY, looking a lot better and closer to a return. Or at least someone that looked like YO-HEY…I think it actually was Shuji Kondo.
Result: Saxon Huxley beat Progress Atlas Champion Will Kroos to win the title.

Match 4: KENTA, HAYATA, Tetsuya Endo & Ulka Sasaki vs. Atsushi Kotoge, Mohammed Yone, Hajime Ohara & Hi69. 30 minute (?) time limit KENTA with microphone pre-match. He reveals that, as indicated by the shirts they came out wearing, his new faction is now called WRS-White Raven Squad.
Result: KENTA, HAYATA, Tetsuya Endo & Ulka Sasaki beat Atsushi Kotoge, Mohammed Yone, Hasjime Ohara & Hi69. KENTA pinned Hi69 after GO 2 SLEEP.

Match 5: GHC National Champion Dragon Bane vs. Alpha Wolf for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: Alpha Wolf beat GHC National Champion Dragon Bane to win the title. Wolf becomes the 19th GHC National Champion. All because of The Turn…Yoshitatsu came out near the end and that gave it all away-Wolf turned on Bane, his brother, and defected to Team 2000X.

Intermission. We get some of the Japanese commentary unmuted during the break while the English team steps away.

The matches resume at 11:40 PM PT/2:40 AM ET. Keiji Muto & sumo wrestler Wakamotoharu join Japanese commentary. (Some sumo wrestlers are pro wrestling fans and some wrestlers, most notably New Japan star Taichi, are sumo fans and return the favor)

Match 6: Kaito Kiyomiya & Jack Morris vs. Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows. Unknown time limit
Result: Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows beat Kaito Kiyomiya & Jack Morris. Anderson pinned Morris after Magic Killer.

As the next match prepares to begin it’s midnight PT so…Happy New Year & welcome to 2026!

Match 7: GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Naomichi Marufuni & Kenoh vs. BUSHI & TBA for the titles. 1 Hour time limit. And TBA is…indeed…Tetsuya Naito!
Result: BUSHI & Tetsuya Naito beat GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Naomichi Marufuji & Kenoh to win the titles. BUSHI & Naito become the 76th GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. BUSHI pinned Marufuji. Got away with an apparent mist attack on a rollup.

Match 8: GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi (New Japan) vs. AMAKUSA for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: AMAKUSA beat GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi to win the title. AMAKUSA becomes the 60th GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion. Next up: Looks like Odashima as challenge issued. Accepted. Updates to come later today.

Main Event: GHC Heavyweight Champion Yoshiki Inamura vs. OZAWA for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: GHC Heavyweight Champion Yoshiki Inamura beat OZAWA to retain the title. V2 for Inamura. A lot of Team 2000X interference but at one point Dragon Bane came out to help Inamura. Next up: Kenoh. Ot is it? Before he could get to the ring, Masa Kitamiya laid out Kenoh. Kitamiya with microphone. He wants next and isn’t letting Inamura choose Kenoh next. Challenge accepted by Inamura. Kitamiya took the cheap shot and went for the beatdown but bailed when Inamura got the upper hand. So it looks like Kitmaiya and not Kenoh next. Updates to come.

The next event is tomorrow at Shinjuku Face. The event is a legit advance sellout. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 1:30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET.

UPDATE: Kitamiya is indeed next for Inamura and not Kenoh. That match will happen on 1/11 at Korakuen Hall along with AMAKUSA-Odashima.
