New Japan ran Day 5 of the G1 CLIMAX 32 today, headlined by another potential classic rivalry match between longtime stalwarts Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tetsuya Naito.

Today’s event was held at Ota City General Gym in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on New Japan World in Japanese and English.

The announced paid attendance was 2518.

DDT “Summer Vacation 2022” Results (7/24/22)

DDT runs their next mid-major event today, headlined by two title matches and the return of Tetsuya Endo. Endo, the former KO-D Openweight Champion, has been out since suffering a concussion at CyberFight Festival ’22 in mid-June that forced him to vacate the title ahead of the KING OF DDT Tournament. But if new champion Kazusada Higuchi has his way, Endo could get a rematch after tonight. But Higuchi needs to focus on now as his newly formed team with Naomi Yoshimura (who Higuchi beat to win the tournament and the title) challenges KO-D Tag Team Champions MAO & Asuka (Veny) for the titles today.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. Japanese voice actor Takayuki Kondo, best known for his work in the anime series “The Prince Of Tennis”, will be a special guest on commentary. Also, the first 2 matches will be streamed FOR FREE on YouTube.
The card has undergone several changes due to coronavirus issues as currently 3 wrestlers-Toui Kojima, Yuya Koroku & Hideki Okatani-are off. So there could be more last-second changes.

Result: Kazusada Higuchi & Naomi Yoshimura beat KO-D Tag Team Champions MAO & Asuka to win the titles. Higuchi & Yoshimura become the 75th KO-D Tag Team Champions. Higuchi pinned MAO after Brain Claw Slam. Higuchi is now a double champion. Afterwards, he called out Endo, who Higuchi wants to be his first challenger for the KO-D Openweight Championship, ideally on 8/20. It now appears not if it will happen, but when. Ring Of Honor Death Before Dishonor 2022 Results (7/23/22)

Ring of Honor runs their first official event of the Tony Khan regime tonight with their quarterly PPV, Death Before Dishonor. And in typical Khan fashion, he’s loaded the card to overflowing with 11 total matches including what looks like EVERY ROH Title is on the line. There is plenty of All Elite Wrestling participation as well, including in the main event when Jonathan Gresham defends the ROH World Championship against new AEW signee Claudio Castagnoli.
Today’s event will be held at Tsongas Center in Lowell, MA and can be watched LIVE on PPV. DDT 7/23/22 Results (Special 1 Match Event)

As part of the HandMade in Japan Festival going on in Tokyo this weekend, DDT ran a special one-match event today.

Today’s event was held at the Music & Play Area at the festival in Tokyo. There was no live broadcast.

The attendance was not announced.

Result: MAO beat Yuya Koroku, Sanshiro Takagi & Yukio Naya in a 4-way Falls Count Anywhere match by pinning Koroku. The match went just under 23 minutes. Afterwards, Kotaro Marubayashi, President & CEO of event organizer/sponsor Creamer LTD., challenged Takagi to a match at next year’s event.

The next event is tomorrow at Korakuen Hall. The card is undergoing many last-minute changes because Koroku, Toui Kojima and Hideki Okatani are all now off the event. Coronavirus. Kojima tested positive and is out at least a week including 7/30. Koroku & Okatani are potential close contacts and are out as a precaution.

New Japan ran Day 4 of the G1 CLIMAX 32 today, passing the halfway point of the first round of matches for each group (some wrestlers have now had 2 matches while only EVIL has yet to have his first match, that’s coming next week). Today was headlined by NEW IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White in his first G1 match this year, a tough draw against Tomohiro Ishii.

In other news, the promotion announced that Clark Connors is now off tomorrow’s STRONG tapings and next week’s Music City Mayhem event in Nashville, TN due to injury. Herniated disc in his back. For tomorrow, he was to have faced Hiromu Takahashi & El Desperado in a 3-way. Blake Christian is the replacement. For 7/30, he was to have faced Davey Richards for the MLW (Major League Wrestling) National Championship. Rocky Romero is the replacement.

Tokyo Joshi Pro continued the Tokyo Princess Cup today with the last Round 2 match, finishing the setup for the Quarterfinals. One match was a forfeit because Mizuki is out of the tournament due to missing today’s event (fever). While not scheduled in tournament action today, Miyu Yamashita also missed the event because she is in the US for some events this next week including a return to All Elite Wrestling on Wednesday.

He could still earn promotion next time with at least 12 wins.

Aaanoyama Watch: The former Ozeki capped off a 7-0 return by winning the Sandanme Championship with a win against Daiseizan. Asanoyama will be promoted to Makushita after his 3rd career title. He’ll be part of the victory ceremony on the Final Day, but match-wise his tournament is complete-no matches on the final 2 days.
The Makushita Champion is Yoshii, who finishes 7-0 after beating Juryo-bound Kinbozan in their final match. However, it was close because the referee declared Kinbozan the winner, but after a Mono-Ii (Judges’ conference) the referee’s verdict was overturned. Replays showed that, unfortunately for the Kazakhstan-born Kinbozan, it was the right decision because Kinbozan clearly touched the ground first as both were going down on a throw by Yoshii. Regardless, Kinbozan will be a Juryo man as he was a Makushita 1, as for Yoshii it’s a toss-up as he was a Makushita 38. Most likely will stay in Makushita at around a 3 to a 5 in September.
In the bottom tier Jonokuchi, nobody will go 7-0 and it looks like Kazuto & Takahashi, both making their debuts this tournament, will have a playoff for the championship.

Pro Wrestling NOAH 7/22/22 Results

Pro Wrestling NOAH continued the SSTAR NAVIGATION 2023 Tour today with the second half of an opening Tokyo doubleheader. No title matches today because ABEMA seemingly gets first dibs. There also was No Go today as Go Shiozaki was removed from the event due to a neck injury.

Main Event: Kenoh, Masakatsu Funaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima beat Kaito Kiyomiya, Satoshi Kojima & Masaaki Mochizuki. Nakajima pinned Kiyomiya after Vertical Spike.

The next event is 7/30 at Act City Hamamatsu in Shizuoka, going back to the SUNNY VOYAGE 2022 Tour. This event will be taped for on demand broadcast on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date (no live broadcast).

In post-event news, Naomichi Marufuji will be returning to the US in August to appear in House Of Glory Wrestling on 8/28 in New York City. The event is expected to be available to watch live on PPV.

BREAKING: Tokyo Joshi Princess Cup Favorite Out

BREAKING: Ahead of tomorrow’s Tokyo Joshi Pro event, the Tokyo Princess Cup Tournament has lost it’s biggest non-Final match and perhaps the favorite…Mizuki is now off tomorrow and is OUT of the tournament as a result. Fever. Not yet known if it’s coronavirus. She was to have faced Shoko Nakajima in Round 2 of the Cup. The Princess Of Princess Champion now gets a free pass and will advance to the Quarterfinals to face Miu Watanabe. Nakajima will now team with Yuka Sakazaki to face Rika Tatsumi & Watanabe. Also remember no Miyu Yamashita tomorrow as she is in the US.
