Tokyo Joshi: 9th Princess Cup Announced

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling has announced the 9th Tokyo Princess Cup, their annual singles tournament featuring the entire TJPW roster. Normally it features the entire roster, which is currently 22, but only 20 entrants are set for this year and it guarantees a new champion this year. That is because defending winner Maki Itoh is out because she was invited to participate in Game Changer Wrestling in the US on August 14, which is the same date as the Finals. Itoh will go to the US to contribute to TJPW by appearing overseas and will miss the tournament as a result. Rookie Juria Nagano will also not participate due to schedule reasons. That and recent history would suggest Mizuki will be the favorite going in-the only reason she may very well not have been going for a 4-peat this year is Itoh, who beat Mizuki in last year’s Semifinals to deny her a potential 3rd straight tournament win.

The schedule for this year’s tournament is as follows:
Rounds 1-2: 7/16, 7/17, 7/18 at Ryogoku KFC Hall & 7/23 at Shinjuku Face
Quarterfinals: 7/31 at Otemachi Mitsui Hall
Semifinals: 8/13 at Korakuen Hall
Finals: 8/14 at Korakuen Hall
Round 1 will have 4 matches over each of the first 2 events. Because of the number of participants, 4 will get a free pass to Round 2. After the Quarterfinals, there likely will be a random draw to set up the Semifinals. The eventual winner will likely earn a Princess Of Princess Championship match unless the current champion wins (that will be either Shoko Nakajima or Rika Tatsumi).

Pro Wrestling NOAH 6/24/22 Results

Pro Wrestling NOAH resumed the SUNNY VOYAGE 2022 Tour today, wrapping up their June schedule with the beginning of the build to the next GHC Heavyweight Championship match at the next Nippon Budokan blowout event in mid-July.

Today’s event was held at Yokohama Radiant Hall in Tokohama and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The announced paid attendance was 202. Depending on the seating layout, this was probably at least a near-sellout (it’s a very small venue).

There were some last-minute changes to the card as Rene Dupree was announced as being off the card just before event time. The always-vague poor physical condition.

Match 1: Mohammed Yone & Akitoshi Saito beat Atsushi Kotoge & Kinya Okada. Yone pinned Okada after Kinniku Muscle Buster.

BREAKING: NJPW Star Off Forbidden Door

The injury bug continues to hit AEW & New Japan at a bad time right before the Forbidden Door PPV this weekend-New Japan just announced on their English website that Tomohiro Ishii is now off the event. Left knee injury. He was to have been in a 4-way for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship. Clark Connors, who Ishii beat to earn a spot in the match, is the replacement.

AEW Dynamite 6/22/22 Results

Here are the quick results from last night’s AEW Dynamite in Milwaukee:
Bryan Danielson announced he can’t compete at Forbidden Door or next week’s Dynamite due to not being medically cleared. This is apparently due to injury from Double Or Nothing. He was to have faced Zack Sabre Jr. on Sunday and been in Blood And Guts next week. Replacement TBA but it’ll be the same person for both.

Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero beat Will Ospreay & Aussie Open.

Christian Cage cut a heel promo on Jungle Boy.

AEW All-Atlantic Championship Tournament: Malakai Black beat Penta Oscuro. As a result, Black is in the 4-way for the title against Miro, Pac & Tomohiro Ishii.

Adam Page beat Silas Young.

Toni Storm beat Marina Shafir.

Jon Moxley & Hiroshi Tanahashi beat Chris Jericho & Lance Archer. Afterwards, Kazuchika Okada made his AEW Debut and it was announced that IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White will defend the title at Forbidden Door…against Page, Okada and Adam Cole in a 4-way. Oh snap.

Pro Wrestling NOAH 6/23/22 Results

Pro Wrestling NOAH ran this month’s N INNOVATION event today, and on paper it was a big event with 2 title matches and someone’s NOAH run ending. More potential big shifting in the Jr. Heavyweight ranks.

Today’s event was held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE

The announced paid attendance was 360, a legit advance sellout.

There were a few late changes to the card yesterday and today before the event-first, Alejandro had to be removed from the card due to a fever. He was to have teamed with Kaito Kiyomiya to face Shuji Kondo & Hi69. Extreme Tiger was the telacement. Until…after that Daisuke Harada also had to be removed from the card. Fever. Because he was part of the champion team, it meant the Open The Triangle Gate Championship would now be VACANT. The scheduled title match was now for the vacant titles with Tiger replacing Harada, and TBA again with Kiyomiya in the first match.

Match 1: Kaito Kiyomiya & TBA, which ultimately wound up being Satoshi Kojima (who IS NOT a Jr. Heavyweight), beat Shuji Kondo & Hi69. Kojima pinned Hi69 after a Western lariat.

Match 2: Yoshinari Ogawa beat Kai Fujimura by submission. It only went 51 seconds. (Comment after watching on replay-this may have been a botched finish. Fujimura seemed to clearly have his shoulders up before the 3 count and the ref casually counted. Ogawa had caught Fujimura in a dropkick and was maybe setting up a Figure 4 but sat down for the pin. Very questionable but I think the ref blew this one)

Match 3: Seiki Yoshioka beat Yuya Susumu.

Match 4: NOSAWA Rongai, Eita & Kotaro Suzuki beat Atsushi Kotoge, YO-HEY & Extreme Tiger to win the vacant Open The Triangle Gate Championship. NOSAWA, Eita & Suzuki become the 81st Open The Triangle Gate Champions. Eita pinned YO-HEY after Imperial Uno.

Match 5: In a Loser NOAH Expulsion match, Tadasuke beat Haoh. As a result, Haoh is done with NOAH.

Main Event: GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion HAYATA beat Hajime Ohara by submission to retain the title. V2 for HAYATA. Next up: Yoshioka. That will happen on 7/16 at Nippon Budokan.

The next event is tomorrow at Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 2 AM PT/5 AM ET.

UPDATE: Potential correction on the opening match-when I watched the replay, Hi69 was announced as HIROKI, which is a name he later used before becoming Nioh.
