News: GLEAT Holding Masato Yoshino Produced Event

GLEAT has announced a special Masato Yoshino Produced event, SPEED STAR Masato Yoshino “Unity” “The First”, to be held on 2/15 at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo. Yoshino, a former wrestler in Dragon Gate who may very well have been the fastest wrestler ever (only Seiki Yoshioka cam run the ropes anywhere close to as fast as Yoshino could in his prime, at least among those I’ve seen), has been working in an executive role with GLEAT since its creation alongside former Dragon Gate mainstay CIMA.

GLEAT has announced the full card for the event:
T-Hawk & El Lindaman vs. Kaito Ishida & Takehiro Yamamura
Ryuichi Kawakami & Dongry Fujie (?) vs. Tetsuya Izuchi & Issei Onitsuka
Masato Yoshino & CIMA in a 5-minute public recording segment for Yoshino’s YouTube channel
Sareee & Kizuna Tanaka vs. Nanae Takahashi & Yuu
Hayato Tamura & Yuma Anzai vs. Minoru Suzuki & KAZMA SAKAMOTO

Tickets are on sale now. No word yet on if video will be available live or on demand on YouTube. Check out the event poster below:

Injury Report: GLEAT Passes A Bad Check

And after a short break the body count across Japan further rises as injuries continue to pile up. GLEAT does sometimes make the bad puns easy for me, as in this case as they announced the latest casualty is Check Shimatani. Left arm and left side. Out indefinitely but translation noted “severe pain” so it probably will be a while, however this is pending further examination by doctors. He is off the 2/2 event and, while they were not mentioned specifically, it appears corresponding card changes have already been made.

More as it becomes available.

BREAKING: GLEAT Wrestler Retires (Updated)

While they haven’t posted today’s results yet, GLEAT has announced breaking news: Yukari Hosokawa, one of the female wresters on their roster, has retired effective immediately. However, the door was potentially open for a return as Hosokawa is only 19. She had never won a singles match but had some success in tag team matches.

UPDATE: Now it’s GLEAT Wrestlers Retiring. Also announced during the event was that Kaz Hayashi will retire on 7/1/24 at GLEAT’s annual biggest event of the year when they run GLEAT Ver. 12 at TDC Hall.

Injury Report: Yu Is Not Feeling GLEAT

Constant bad puns aside, GLEAT continues to get hit hard by constant injuries the last few months, today they reported Yu Iizuka is the latest casualty. Zygomatic fracture or, in simpler medical terms, face/facial trauma/fracture. Out a long time per their release, so likely several months or more. Upcoming card changes pending.

More as it becomes available.
