Main Event: VC Tag League Finals: Kaito Kiyomiya & Ryohei Oiwa beat Saxon Huxley & Timothy Thatcher to win the tournament. Kiyomiya pinned Huxley after Transformed Shining Wizard. All-Japan continued the Dream Power Series 2024 today with an event in Gunma, which sadly has been overshadowed by the death of veteran wrestler Yutaka Yoshie, who suddenly became ill backstage after his match and has died. He was only 50. The exact cause of death is not yet known but early reports are it seems to be some kind of sudden post-match occurrence and not related to anything that happened during the match..

Today’s event was held at G Messe Gunma in Gunma and should be available on demand on AJPW.TV later today. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 651.

Match 1; Dan Tamura & MUSASHI (Michinoku Pro) beat Rising Hayato & MAZADA (Independent/Freelancer). MUSASHI pinned MAZADA after a diving body press.

Match 2: Yuma Aoyagi beat FUMA (Independent/Freelancer).

Match 3: Hokuto Omori & Ryoji Sai beat Ryo Inoue & Yutaka Yoshie. Sai pinned Inoue with Akagawa Iron Bridge. As noted above, this turned out to be Yoshie’s final career match after 30 years due to his sudden unexpected death post-match.

Match 4: Jun Saito & Toshizo beat Kento Miyahara & Ren Ayabe. Saito pinned Ayabe after Psycho Break.

Match 5: Suwama, Hideki Suzuki & Hikaru Sato beat Shotaro Ashino, Kuroshio TOKYO Japan & Seigo Tachibana by ref stoppage. Suwama beat Tachibana with a vise sleeper.

Main Event: Yuma Anzai & Ryuki Honda beat Katsuhiko Nakajima & Hartley Jackson. Anzai pinned Jackson with a German suplex hold.

BREAKING: Japanese Wrestler Yutaka Yoshie Dies After Event

At today’s All-Japan Pro Wrestling event, logntime Japanese wrestler Yutaka Yoshie made an appearance and competed in a tag match. Sadly, Yoshie became ill after returning backstage and was hospitalized immediately but has since died. He was only 50; The exact cause of death is unknown. Yoshie was set to celebrate his 30th anniversary in wrestling his year as he had been competing since 1994.

More as it becomes available. I send my deepest condolences to the family, friends and fans of Yoshie and pray for his soul to be at peace.

This was to have been Utami Hayashishita teaming with Kamitani but Hayashishita is off this weekend due to the ever-vague poor physical condition/ill health. AZM was the replacement. Afterwards, Sareee came out again and challenged Iwatani for the IWGP Women’s Championship.

The next event is tomorrow (tonight US time) at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. It will be a live PPV broadcast on Pia Stream for 2200 yen (around $15 US) and will begin TONIGHT at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET. The likely main event is STRONG Women’s Champion Giulia vs. Stephanie Vaquer for the title. It should be available on demand on Stardom World Thursday. There will be no commentary for this event.

In other news, the 5 STAR GP Tournament was announced for later this year. It will start on 8/10 at Yokohama Budokan and end on 8/31 at Musashino Forest Sports Plaza Main Arena in Tokyo. Ganbare Pro ran the last Ganbare Women event under the CyberFight Corp. label before the promotion breaks away and becomes independent at the end of the month, leaving the spin-off’s future uncertain due also to some wrestlers leaving the promotion.

Today’s event was held at Takashimadaira Community Center in Tokyo and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 111.

Match 1; Kamoe Kobayashi beat Bunny Oikawa.

Match 2: Alex Lee & Tyson Maeguchi beat Riara & Shota. Lee pinned Riara after Viscoplex.

Match 3: Sumire Natsu beat Yoshiko Hasegawa. Afterwards, Natsu put Hasegawa, who is leaving Ganbare at the end of the month, over even as a “business enemy” and suggested they become a team.
