DDT 1/5/25 Results

DDT ran a special “All seats 3000 yen” (around $20 US) New Year Festival 2025 event today in Tokyo.

Today’s event was held at Itabashi Green Hall in Tokyo and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE Wednesday. There was no live broadcast.

The paid attendance was not announced but it was a legit advance sellout. For the venue that means 200-250.

Before the matches began, new ring announcer Task Ono, who debuted today, greeted the crowd.

NwA Jr. (Shunma Katsumata, Yuni, Kazuma Sumi) performed their debut song.

Match 1: Chris Brookes & Takeshi Masada vs. Yuki Ueno & MAO went to a 15 minute time limit draw.

Match 2: Jun Akiyama beat Gota Ihashi.

Match 3: Tetsuya Endo beat Yuki Iino. This is/was Endo’s final DDT match for now before he heads to Pro Wrestling NOAH indefinitely.

Order of elimination (one man means entire team out): Yuni by Hirata, Honda by Demus, Illusion by Nakamura. V1 for the champs.

The next event is KOTATSU FIGHTING 2025 Saturday at Yokohama Radiant Hall in Yokohama. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at midnight PT/3 AM ET.

New Japan Pro Wrestling “WRESTLE DYNASTY” LIVE Results (1/5/25) (Updated)

New Japan returns to the Tokyo Dome today just hours after their annual year-opening biggest event of the year for WRESTLE DYNASTY, a special crossover event featuring partner promotions AEW, CMLL, Stardom and more. With yesterday now in the books, that means several expected changes were made to the card but also some unexpected changes. With Zack Sabre Jr. still IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, that means he now defends against Ricochet in what will be the main event, while NEW NEVER Openweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita defends the title AND the AEW International Championshp against Tomohiro Ishii, and NEW IWGP Global Champion Yota Tsuji defends the title against Jack Perry. And in unexpected changes, Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi have cashed in their IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship shot earned for winning the World Tag League to make today’s determination match for the vacant titles a 3-way (and the TBA that was Great-O-Khan’s mystery partner has been revealed to be Jeff Cobb), plus Hiroshi Tanahashi & Katsuyori Shibata face off in an exhibition match.

Today’s event will be held at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on New Japan World in Japanese and English. It will also be available live and on demand as a PPV on Triller/FITE for $29.99 or as a combo pack for $47.99 which includes unlimited replays of yesterday’s event. Both have replays for the next 90 days. There will be 2 pre-show matches and 12 matches total so strap in for a potential all-nighter if you’re on the US east coast as the event’s total running time will probably be close to 5 hours.

7 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata, Milano Collection A.T. & Miki Motoi. El Desperado is our first guest on commentary. Your English hosts are Walker Stewart & Chris Charlton.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. The crowd will still be filing in over the next hour but most of the floor/field level seating is already full. Advance sales didn’t seem as strong as for yesterday so I’ll initially guess it’ll be around 20,000. That still would likely be the second-biggest number of the entire year anywhere in Japan. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 16,300)

Pre-show:
Match 1: International Women’s Cup: Momo Watanabe vs. Willow Nightingale, Athena & Persephone in a 4-way. No time limit
Result: Momo Watanabe beat Willow Nightingale, Athena & Persephone in a 4-way by pinning Athena. Thekla, who was seconding Watanabe, was ejected right before by the ref for interfering, allowing Watanabe to use her baseball bat to knock out Athena.

Match 2: ROH Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Sho for the titles. 1 Hour time limit
Result: ROH Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara beat Yoshinobu Kanemaru & Sho to retain the titles. Rhodes pinned Kanemaru after a Guevara swanton bomb.

Result: Time Limit Draw. A standup slap/chop fest.

Match 3: STRONG Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone vs. RevPro British Women’s Champion Mina Shirakawa for the titles. 30 minute time limit
Result: STRONG Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone beat Mina Shirakawa to retain the title and win the RevPro British Women’s Championship. V4 for Mone. Which hopefully means I get to see her Saturday at Battle In The Valley.

El Desperado rejoins Japanese commentary for the next match and hosts are swapped as Haruo Murata gets a break.

Match 4: David Finlay vs. Brody King. 30 minute time limit
Result: David Finlay beat Brody King

Match 5: Shota Umino vs. Claudio Castagnoli. 30 minute time limit
Result: Shota Umino beat Claudio Castagnoli

Upcoming US event announcements. Windy City Riot in April in Chicago is being billed as Hiroshi Tanahashi’s final US appearance before his retirement.

Hiroshi Tanahashi joins Japanese commentaryz

Match 8: IWGP Global Champion Yota Tsuji vs. Jack Perry for the title. 1 Hour time limit
Result: IWGP Global Champion Yota Tsuji beat Jack Perry to retain the title. V1 for Tsuji.

Match 9: Kenny Omega vs. Gabriel Kidd. No time limit
Result: Kenny Omega beat Gabriel Kidd

Main Event: IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Ricochet for the title. 1 Hour time limit

The next event is NEW YEAR DASH!! tomorrow at Ota City General Gym. Live streaming on New Japan World will begin at 1:30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET.

UPDATE: As a result of winning the pre-show women’s 4-way, Momo Watanabe gets a future title shot of her choice. Presumably that means any title in Stardom or the other women’s titles in AEW, ROH or CMLL. (UPDATE 2: It sounds like she chose the ROH Women’s Championship currently held by Athena)

New Japan 1/4/25 Results

The biggest annual extravaganza in Japanese pro wrestling, and second biggest in all wrestling after WrestleMania, New Japan’s year-opening WRESTLE KINGDOM 19, is in the books.

Today’s event was held at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo and can be watched on demand OUTSIDE JAPAN ONLY on New Japan World. It is also available as a PPV on Triller/FITE for $29.99 or as a combo pack for $47.99 which includes tomorrow’s event and replays for 90 days (until 4/4). This event aired live in Japan as the premiere of WORLD PRO WRESTLING LIVE 2025 on TV Asahi.

The announced paid attendance was 24,107. That’s actually down from last year’s event (27,422). It’s still (and will be) the biggest crowd of the year but against normal capacity for the Dome (65,000 for baseball) and Hiroshi Tanahashi’s goals of selling it out again, on paper that’s actually kinda bad, especially when pre-pandemic they routinely did twice this number. (And it wasn’t a full capacity setup, would have been maybe 50,000 tops)

Pre-show match: Hirooki Goto won the New Japan Ranbo Battle Royal, this year with 17 participants, last eliminating Great-O-Khan. As a result, Goto gets a future IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match.

Match 1: In a Ladder Match, Kosei Fujita & Robbie Eagles beat IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Kevin Knight & KUSHIDA, Francesco Akira & TJP and Drilla Moloney & Clark Connors in a 4-way to win the titles Fujita & Eagles become the 77th IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.

Match 2: IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani beat AZM to retain the title. V9 for Iwatani. Fellow Stardom wrestler Momo Watanabe was a (very unenthusiastic) guest on Japanese commentary for this match.

Match 3: El Phantasmo beat NJPW WORLD TV Champion Ren Narita, Ryohei Oiwa & Jeff Cobb in a 4-way by pinning Narita to win the title. Phantasmo becomes the 7th NJPW WORLD TV Champion.

Match 4: In a Lumberjack Death Match, Hiroshi Tanahashi beat EVIL. Afterwards, the usual H.O.T. beatdown followed until Katsuyori Shibata returned and made the save.

Match 5: Konosuke Takeshita beat NEVER Openweight Champion Shingo Takagi to win the title and retain the AEW International Championship Takeshita becomes the 47th NEVER Openweight Champion.

Match 6: El Desperado beat IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion DOUKI by ref stoppage (injury) to win the title. Desperado becomes the 98th IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. Unfortunately this was a legit injury and the match only went about 5 minutes. DOUKI suffered a left arm injury on a dive through the ropes. Desperado promised a rematch in the future if circumstances allow.

Match 7: Yota Tsuji beat IWGP Global Champion David Finlay to win the title. Tsuji becomes the 4th IWGP Global Champion.

Match 8: Tetsuya Naito beat Hiromu Takahashi.

Main Event: IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. beat Shuta Umino to retain the title. V3 for Sabre. This went almost 45 minutes.

The next event is WRESTLE DYNASTY tomorrow. Live streaming on New Japan World and as a PPV on Triller/FITE will begin TONIGHT at 7 PM PT/10 PM ET.

As expected, and not expected, there are several changes to WRESTLE DYNASTY as a result of today’s matches:
The expected:
Konosuke Takeshita will defend both his titles against Tomohiro Ishii.
Yota Tsuji vs. Jack Perry is now for the IWGP Global Championship.
Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Ricochet is now for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
The unexpected:
The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship match between Great-O-Khan & TBA (mystery partner) and Matt & Nick Jackson is now a 3-way with Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi added.
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Katsuyori Shibata has been added, it will be a Exhibition Match with a 5 minute time limit

Including the pre-show, that makes 12 total matches for the event.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling “Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling ’25” LIVE Results (1/4/25) (Updated)

The biggest annual day of the year in Japanese pro wrestling, and biggest in the world outside of WrestleMania Weekend-is finally here…HAPPY TOKYO DOME DAY! It kicks off with Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling’s annual pre-Dome morning matinee, the year-opening “Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling ’25” blowout event. All 3 of the promotion’s titles are on the line today-first up, Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh have a very big task ahead, literally, when they defend the Princess Tag Team Championship against Zara Zakher & Masha Slamovich. In the Semifinal, Yuki Arai celebrates one year as International Princess Champion today and will try to keep her record-setting reign going against Suzume. And in the main event, Miu Watanabe will look to retain the Princess Of Princess Championship against Mizuki, who will try to become a 2-time champion. Elsewhere, former TJPW icon Yuka Sakazaki makes a one-day-only return and the annual Shoko Nakajima-Hyper Misao match will be a wacky death match with former DDT wrestler Poison Sawada JULIE as special referee.

There have been last-minute changes to the card because both Haru Kazashiro and Uta Takami are now off the event. The always-vague poor health. HIMAWARI & Shino Suzuki were moved to other matches and a planned 6-woman tag match is now a tag match. After missing most of December due to a death in her family, Kira Summer will also return to action today.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese and English. Actress Mai Asada will be a special guest on Japanese commentary. Fans will be able to throw streamers/paper tape in the ring during entrances. The final card settled on 9 matches after expecting to be as many as 10, and one match is no time limit but since this is a blowout event for TJPW I would anticipate the event’s running time being about 3 hours. It can’t go much longer due to a post-event party next door, and that will still leave plenty of time to get ready for Tokyo Dome.

Today’s lineup:
HIMAWARI & Mifu Ashida vs. Toga & Chika Nanase
Ryo Mizunami, Kaya Toribami & Yoshiko Hasegawa vs. Matcha, Ivy Steele & Kira Summer
Aja Kong, Mahiro Kiryu & Neko Haruna vs. Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku
Shoko Nakajima vs. Hyper Misao in a Lumber Snake Death Match. Rules TBA. Poison Sawada JULIE is special referee
Yuka Sakazaki & Moka Miyamoto vs. Arisu Endo & Shino Suzuki
Yuki Kamifuku & Lei Ying Lee (Xia Li) vs. Rika Tatsumi & Wakana Uehara
International Princess Champion Yuki Arai vs. Suzume for the title
Princess Tag Team Champions Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh vs. Zara Zakher & Masha Slamovich for the titles
Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe vs. Mizuki for the title

Updates below will begin at 5:30 PM PT/8:30 PM ET. The opening announcements are scheduled to begin at 5:50 PM PT/8:50 PM ET. (The official event start time is 6 PM PT/9 PM ET)

5:30 PM PT UPDATE: The live stream has begun. We should be going to the venue shortly.

5:45 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata, Kagehiro Osano, Sayoko Mita & Mai Asada. Your English hosts are Baliyan Akki & Mr. Haku.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Advance ticket sales seemed about average and it’ll be about 15 minutes before we have a good estimate as the crowd is still filing in, but they want them in before the opening announcements. From what I can see at that time, it looks like around 1000. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 1483, a legit sellout. So a very strong walk-up crowd)

The opening announcements will begin in about 5 minutes.

After the announcements, which included this event happening again next year at the same date & time (1/4/26), Sanshiro Takagi comes out. He announces a Bullet Train Pro Wrestling event on 2/15 to take place on a Japanese bullet train. That’ll be fun! The match? Miu Watanabe, Mizuki, Raku (of course-she is a noted train enthusiast and fan of the Japanese train system) & Aja Kong vs. Miyu Yamashita, Maki Itoh, Yuki Arai & Max The Impaler. Quite a matchup but I’d take one of Yamashita/Itoh/Arai out for Pom Harajuku instead.

Up Up GIrls performance. No Uta Takami today so Hyper Misao comes out to fill in. Actually not.

The matches begin at 6:15 PM PT/9:15 PM ET.

Match 1: HIMAWARI & Mifu Ashida vs. Toga & Chika Nanase. 20 minute time limit
Result: Toga & Chika Nanase beat HIMAWARI & Mifu Ashida. Toga pinned Ashida after Rock Bottom.

Match 2: Ryo Mizunami (Independent/Freelancer), Kaya Toribami & Yoshiko Hasegawa vs. Matcha, Ivy Steele & Kira Summer. 20 minute time limit
Result: Ryo Mizunami, Kaya Toribami & Yoshiko Hasegawa beat Matcha, Ivy Steele & Kira Summer. Mizunami pinned Steele after a spear.

All Elite Wrestling referee Bryce Remsburg is the referee for our next match.

Match 3: Aja Kong (OZ Acadxemy), Mahiro Kiryu & Neko Haruna vs. Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku. 20 minute time limit
Result: Yuki Aino, Raku & Pom Harajuku beat Aja Kong, Mahiro Kiryu & Neko Haruna. Aino pinned Haruna after Venus DDT.

Match 4: Shoko Nakajima vs. Hyper Misao in a Lumberjack Death Match. Rules TBA. Poison Sawada JULIE (DDT) is special referee. 15 minute time limit. Before entrances we see a video of Nakajima preparing backstage and drinks a bottle of something. It doesn’t go well as poor Chika Nanase soon discovers…Nakajima comes out face painted along with Toga, Yoshiko Hasegawa, HIMAWARI & JULIE. And actually, she’s now Shoko NAKAJAMA!
Result: Hyper Misao beat Shoko Nakajima. Really fun comedy match.

Quick break for ring repairs/maintenance.

The first match for 1/4/26 is announced…and it’s…what else? Shoko Nakajima vs. Hyper Misao of course!

Match 5: Yuka Sakazaki & Moka Miyamoto (she’s gone blonde!) vs. Arisu Endo & Shino Suzuki. 20 minute time limit
Result: Yuka Sakazaki & Moka Miyamoto beat Arisu Endo & Shino Suzuki. Sakazaki pinned Suzuki after Magical Girl Splash.

Match 6: Yuki Kamifuku & Lei Ying Lee (Xia Li) vs. Rika Tatsumi & Wakana Uehara. 20 minute time limit
Result: Yuki Kamifuku & Lei Ying Lee beat Rika Tatsumi & Wakana Uehara. Lee pinned Uehara after Thunder Strike.

Match 7: International Princess Champion Yuki Arai vs. Suzume for the title. 30 minute time limit
Result: Suzume beat International Princess Champion Yuki Arai to win the title. Suzume becomes the 13th International Princess Champion. Obviously heartbreaking for me as Arai’s year-long record-setting reign is over, but I’m so very proud of her for how far she has come and how impresssive a champion she was. Bigger and better things are coming.

Match 8: Princess Tag Team Champions Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh vs. Zara Zakher & Masha Slamovich for the titles. 30 minute time limit
Result: Princess Tag Team Champions Miyu Yamashita & Maki Itoh beat Zara Zakher & Masha Slamovich to retain the titles. Yamashita pinned Zakher after Crash Rabbit Heat. V3 for the champs.

Main Event: Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe vs. Mizuki for the title. 30 minute time limit
Result: Mizuki beat Princess Of Princess Champion Miu Watanabe to win the title. Mizuki becomes the 15th Princess Of Princess Champion. UNHAPPY UNHAPPY. I was hoping Watanabe would at least be champion to GRAND PRINCESS ’25. But no…of all people to beat her it had to be that bratty snob Mizuki…oh well, life goes on…

The next event is 1/11 at Kobe Art Center in Kobe to start the NEW YEAR CIRCUIT 2025 tour. There will be no live broadcast.

UPDATE: The next Princess Of Princess challenger will be determined by a 6 woman battle royal on 1/11. Participants will be Yuki Aino, Shoko Nakjaima, Pom Harajuku, Rika Tatsumi, Arisu Endo & Hyper Misao.

Special: Tokyo Dome 1/4/25 Preview/Predictions

Japan’s version of WrestleMania, New Japan’s year-opening annual 1/4 Tokyo Dome spectacular, is just days away. This year’s event has 10 matches scheduled with most but not all titles on the line (some will be saved for Sunday). Ahead of that event it’s time to take a look at the event and make some predictions!

(Note: As always, card subject to change last minute. I considered doing similar for 1/5 but opted not to because while the entire lineup is set, we won’t know until after 1/4 which specific matches will become title matches, there are roughly 3 such matches planned. Also, the 1/5 event will now start Saturday at 7 PM PT/10 PM ET for a pre-show)

Injury Report: Something Bad’s Going Around

DDT and Tokyo Joshi Pro have both announced last-minute changes for tomorrow’s events due to absences: First, DDT-Takeshi Masada is now off their year-opening event. Fever. Symptoms at least so this is precautionary. He was to have teamed with Chris Brookes & Masa Takanashi to face Yuki Ueno, Shinya Aoki & Keigo Nakamura. Hikaru Sato is the replacement.
Second, Tokyo Joshi Pro-both Haru Kazashiro and Uta Takami are off their year-opening event. The always-vague poor health. Takami was to have teamed with Shino Suzuki & Toga to face Mifu Ashida, Chika Nanase & HIMAWARI. Kazashiro was to have teamed with Arisu Endo to face Yuka Sakazaki & Moka Miyamoto. Suzuki will replace Kazashiro and and the 6-woman tag will now be Toga & Nanase vs. Ashida & HIMAWARI.

It’s not yet known if any will miss additional time, in particular Masada because DDT also has an event Sunday (Saturday night US time). After tomorrow TJPW will have a week until their next event.

More as it becomes available.

All-Japan Pro Wrestling 1/3/25 LIVE Results

All-Japan runs the second half of their year-opening New Year Wars doubleheader today in Tokyo. There is one title match today which is the main event, as following Hideki Suzuki officially joining All-Japan yesterday after previously being a freelancer, he teams with Daisuke Sekimoto to challenge Jun & Rei Saito for the All-Japan World Tag Team Championship. We’ll see how Suzuki fares outside of his popular and entertaining “odd couple” pairing with frenemy Suwama, who now is taking a step back and only competing part-time as he starts winding his in-ring career down (and also focuses more on his Evolution women’s promotion). Beyond that, it’s another faction warfare-heavy card plus a Junior Heavyweight spotlight opener.

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on AJPW.TV in Japanese. This will also be a Samurai! TV broadcast in Japan. There are only 6 matches today plus the halfway point intermission so I don’t see this event running as long as yesterday’s, probably will be just over 2 1/2 hours.

Today’s lineup:
Rising Hayato, Atsuki Aoyagi, MUSASHI, Dan Tamura & Taishin Nagao vs. Naruki Doi, Seiki Yoshioka, Hikaru Sato, Yuko Miyamoto & Seigo Tachibana
Ryuki Honda & Ren Ayabe vs. Hartley Jackson & Jack Kennedy
Yuma Aoyagi vs. Fuminori Abe
Intermission
Kento Miyahara, Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Ryo Inoue vs. Hokuto Omori, Kumaarashi & Cyrus
Shotaro Ashino vs. Yuma Anzai
All-Japan World Tag Team Champions Jun & Rei Saito vs. Daisuke Sekimoto & Hideki Suzuki for the titles

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET.

6:30 PM PT UPDATE: Live updates begin now.

We are LIVE from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Commentary will join in a few minutes.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Looks very similar to yesterday, not a legit sellout as I see empty seats but not many. Probably will be around 1300 again. (UPDATE: The announced paid attendance was 1339, they didn’t call it a near-sellout even though it probably was at least 90% full)

The matches will begin shortly.

The matches begin at 6:35 PM PT/9:35 PM PT. Solo commentary right now.

Match 1: Rising Hayato, Atsuki Aoyagi, MUSASHI, Dan Tamura & Taishin Nagao vs. Naruki Doi, Seiki Yoshioka, Hikaru Sato, Yuko Miyamoto & Seigo Tachibana. 30 minute time limit

It will be at least 12 events starting on 4/9 at Korakuen and ending on 5/18 at Ota City General Gym in Tokyo. (What was announced is not the full tournament schedule, more dates are TBA). Other big events coming up: 6/1 at Sendai Sun Plaza in Sendai, 8/3 in Tokyo at Ota City General Gym, 8/10 in Nagano at Matsumoto City Gym, and 12/31 in Tokyo for the annual year-ender at Yoyogi National Stadium Gym 2. Main Event: All-Japan World Tag Team Champions Jun & Rei Saito vs. Daisuke Sekimoto & Hideki Suzuki for the titles. 1 Hour time limit
Result: All-Japan World Tag Team Champions Jun & Rei Saito beat Daisuke Sekimoto & Hideki Suzuki to retain the titles. Rei Saito pinned Suzuki after (a sloppy-looking) BBQ Bomb. V7 for the Saitos/champs. Next up: An oddly head-bandaged Anzai came out…alone. Sounds like he was going to challenge with Rising Hayato as his partner. Which could mean…DOUBLE TITLE? Also for the All-Asia Tag Team Championship? Naturally Jun responded with an emphatic finish of DOOM! That would be something, it could mean that-if Naruki Doi counts-the Saitos could soon hold all the titles in All-Japan outside of the AJPW.TV 6-Man Tag Team Championship and GAORA TV Championship. They finished the promo with a rousing “All-Japan DOOM!” to end the show.

The next event is “New Year Fan Thanksgiving Day” on 1/18 at Shinjuku Face. The event is already a legit advance sellout. Live streaming on AJPW.TV will begin at 1:30 AM PT/4:30 AM ET. (It’s worth nothing that all the events the rest of this month will be live broadcasts on the service, with 1/26 also scheduled to be a GAORA SPORTS broadcast)

After the event, DDT announced Endo will be taking an indefinite hiatus from the promotion after their Sunday event to participate regularly in NOAH until further notice.

Also, according to the official NOAH English social media accounts, Yu Owada has now defected to Team 2000X, the heel faction led by Jack Morris, Daga & Yoshitatsu.
