AEW Rampage 7/29/22 Results (SPOILERS!)

Here are the quick results from tonight’s TAPED AEW Rampage in Worcester, MA (SPOILERS for west feed viewers):
This was again held under the Fight For The Fallen theme from Dynamite this past week, a fundraiser for Oceana.

Best Friends & Orange Cassidy beat Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh. Cassidy pinned Dutt after ORange Punch. Supposedly Dutt can’t really wrestle anymore. Singh only came in for one real spot early.

Ethan Page beat Leon Ruffin. Squash.

Claudio Castagnoli promo turns into Wheeler Tuta-Chris Jericho for next week on Dynamite. And it’s for Jericho’s Interim AEW World Title shot the following week.

Lee Moriarty beat Matt Sydal. Stokely Hathaway tried to recruit Moriarty afterwards.

Anna Jay beat Ruby Soho by technical submission.

Another episode I didn’t care for and is mostly skippable except for the Yuta-Jericho stuff and the main event, which at least was decent despite those typical long commercial breaks during ALL Women’s matches.

Next week on Dynamite, in addition to what was announced Wednesday: Cassidy-Lethal, Powerhouse Hobbs squashes a jobber, Jericho-Yuta and The Acclaimed vs. Gunn Club in a Dumpster Match. PERFECT!

Next week: Rampage is LIVE! They also will tape Battle Of The Belts 3 for airing on 8/6, which will feature Castagnoli vs. Konosuke Takeshita for the ROH World Championship.

BREAKING: New Japan Announces Women’s Title

King Of Sports…and soon Queen Of Sports? At a conference call in Japan today, New Japan and women’s promotion Stardom announced the creation of the IWGP Women’s Championship. The plan is for it to be defended on New Japan events in both Japan and the USA. The inaugural champion will be crowned at a joint NJPW-Stardom event on 11/20 at Ariake Arena in Japan. It could be defended in Stardom too but apparently it will be a New Japan title.

Both New Japan and Stardom are owned by Bushiroad Corporation.

More as it becomes available.

AEW Dynamite 7/27/22 Results (SPOILERS!)

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Worcester, MA (SPOILERS for west coast viewers!):
Tonight was the annual “Fight For The Fallen” charity fundraiser episode. There was a Shark Week tie-in for new parent company Discovery with a campaign to ban shark fin trading or similar.

FTW Champion Ricky Starks beat Danhausen to retain the title. Squash. Starks made another open challenge afterwards. Which led to…
Hook beat FTW Champion Ricky Starks to become THE NEW FTW CHAMPION! Starks promo post-match after commercial interrupted when Powerhouse Hobbs laid out Starks. The promo before the shock ending was FIRE.

Sammy Guevara beat Dante Martin. Martin had Skye Blue in his corner to counter Tay Conti, which spectacularly backfired as the jobber did less than nothing.

Jungle Boy interview & Christian Cage promo. HEAT. This is a must-see.

Swerve Strickland beat Tony Nese & Smart Mark Sterling in a handicap match. Keith Lee was banned from ringside. Post-match, cameras showed Lee laid out backstage, apparently by Josh Woods.

Highlights from last night’s Dark, where Pac successfully defended the AEW All-Atlantic Championship.

AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa beat Miyu Yamashita to retain the title.

Daniel Garcia beat Bryan Danielson by technical submission. Finish set up by interference from Jake Hager, who was hiding under the ring.

Friday on Rampage: Matt Sydal vs. Lee Moriarty, Ethan Page vs. Leon Ruff, Anna Jay vs. Ruby Soho and Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh vs. Best Friends.

Next week: Adam Cole is back, Matt Hardy vs. Christian Cage and Thunder Rosa & Toni Storm vs. Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter. More TBA on Rampage.
After Dynamite went off the air, AEW announced NEW ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli will appear on Rampage.

New Japan Late Changes for 7/26-7/27

New Japan has announced some last-minute changes for the undercards of the G1 CLIMAX 32 events tomorrow and Wednesday at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo-Kosei Fujita is now off both events. Precautionary due to “damage sustained” Wednesday. For tomorrow, he was to have teamed with Yuto Nakashima to face Sho & Yujiro Takahashi. Ryohei Oiwa is the replacement. On Wednesday, Fujita was to have been in a 8-man tag with Kazuchika Okada, YOSHI-HASHI & David Finlay vs. Gedo, Chase Owens, Juice Robinson & Jay White. Oiwa again is the replacement and, as a result, what had been a 6-man tag of Oiwa, Nakashima & Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Dick Togo, Sho & EVIL is now Nakashima & Tanahashi vs. Sho & EVIL as Togo is now off as well.
No word on how long Fujita may be out.
