Pro Wrestling NOAH 11/18/24 Results (Updated)

Pro Wrestling NOAH ran the penultimate episode of MONDAY MAGIC Season 3 today.

Today’s event was held at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE.

The paid attendance was not announced but if not a legit sellout it again was very close (only a few tickets were left before the event).

Match 1: Eita beat LJ Cleary.

Match 2: Kevin Blackwood & Anthony Greene beat Ulka Sasaki & Yu Owada. Blackwood pinned Owada after a diving foot stomp.

Match 3: Kaito Kiyomiya beat Black Menso-re.

Match 4: Kouki Amarei, Natsumi Showzuki & Bozilla beat Miyuki Takase, Sadie Gibbs & Hyan. Bozilla pinned Hyan after a powerbomb.

Match 5: Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno Del Mal beat Alejandro & Kai Fujimura, Dragon Bane & Alpha Wolf and HAYATA & YO-HEY in a 4-way when Del Mal pinned Alejandro.

Main Event: GHC Hardcore Champion Shuji Ishikawa beat Masato Tanaka to retain the title. V1 for Ishikawa.

Of note: Not much changed at the top except the 8-way tie for second is now down to 4 after today. That also means for the first time in some time all the Ozeki are in title contention, as both Kotozakura & Hoshoryu are 7-1 and Onosato is 6-2. The surprise is the other 2 co-leaders, Onokatsu and Takanosho. The former barely held on to his top tier spot this time while the latter was runner-up in July then had a disastrous September but now is back in July form. Still in the 6-2 group is March champion Takerufuji who continues to look strong. On the flip side, it looks like Hiradoumi may be the first demotion this time as he is a disastrous 1-7. And maybe because he was still in second today Mitakeumi kept going but it was another basically walkover loss to drop him to 5-3. He really needs to withdraw as that Day 6 hard landing after the win ended it for him.

RE-ENTRY: Tohakuryu (J6). Will return tomorrow. Missed 3 days for unknown reasons. Will be the equivalent of 2-6 so still a chance to salvage promotion. That means no more Makushita men up starting tomorrow until there’s either another withdrawal or the final day.
Of note: Second chance justification. After barely hanging on to his Juryo spot this time after he should have been demoted after September, that’s a promotion for Oshoumi as he stays the only unbeaten. Kinbozan is also now a win from returning to the top tier next year as he is at 7-1, with Tsurugisho also at 7-1. On the flip side, Chiyomaru is the first official demotion this time as the first to fall to 0-8. And it’s also time to begin wondering if this could be the end for Onosho, the former top-tier mainstay is now 2-6 and, if this keeps up, will be in danger of demotion to Makushita from J10. He probably needs 4 more wins, maybe 3, to be safe.

Lower tier notes:
With Promotion Day now in the books, the field will start getting further narrowed down over the next 4 days to set up the championships. In the Makushita, 7 remain at 4-0 including Wakatakamoto, the third and oldest of the Wakas (older brother to both Wakamotoharu & Wakatakakage). He’s the only one never to get above Makushita, and he wouldn’t this time even at 7-0 due to being Ms43, but it could bring hope for next year. In the Sandanme, after his win yesterday Enho is among 11 at 4-0 and will face fellow unbeaten Kyokumizuno tomorrow. One more win may be enough to get Enho promoted to Makushita in January but I think he needs 2 more to be sure. In the Jonidan, 10 are 4-0 going into the second half while in the Jonokuchi there were 2 unbeaten but as of this post their Day 9 is done and Gonoumi beat Tamaki in the unbeaten matchup so for now Gonoumi is the sole leader at what will now be 5-0. Gonoumi got as high as Makushita earlier in his career before early withdrawals and missing 3 straight tournaments got him demoted to Jonokuchi, but he returned in September for his final match and won so he now has 6 straight wins overall and is 2 wins from his first championship.

DDT 11/17/24 Results

DDT headed to Miyagi today, far away from everyone else in western Japan, for the first MAO hometown event in 6 years.

Today’s event was held at Matsuyama B&G Marine Center in Miyagi and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE Wednesday. There was no live broadcast.

The announced paid attendance was 523, a super full house/very near sellout.

During opening announcements, MAO was appointed Global Ambassador for Osaki City, his hometown.

Match 4: Daisuke Sasaki, KANON & Illusion beat Takeshi Masada, Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Yuni. Sasaki beat Matsunaga with a crossface. Matsunaga was a late replacement for Shunma Katsumata, who was off this event due to a left knee injury suffered a few days ago.

Match 5; Jun Akiyama & HARASHIMA beat Keigo Nakamura & Yuki Ishida. HARASHIMA pinned Ishida after Blue Sword.

Match 6: Tetsuya Endo & Yuya Koroku beat Akito & To-y. Koroku pinned To-y after a transformed Triangle Lancer.

Main Event: MAO & Yuki Ueno vs. Minoru Suzuki & Chris Brookes went to a 30 minute time limit draw.

All-Japan continued the World’s Strongest Tag League today in Yamagata.

HISTORIC X-OVER 2 Results (11/17/24) (Updated x2)

New Japan & Stardom held HISTORIC X-OVER 2, the second crossover event featuring both promotions under the same umbrella, made much easier now that New Japan is the official owner of Stardom. Some matches featured wrestlers from both promotions but actual intergender (male vs. female) wrestling was prohibited with one exception.

Today’s event was held at Osaka Prefectural Gym in Tokyo and can be watched on demand as a PPV on New Japan World and Stardom World. It’s $34.99 on New Japan World and about a dollar more on Stardom World. The PPV viewing window is until next Sunday, after that it may be available on Stardom World for monthly subscribers. Pro Wrestling NOAH “DEATHTINY” LIVE Results (11/17/24) (Updated)

Today is a date with DEATHTINY…for the last time as Pro Wrestling NOAH hosts the retirement event for 30-year-plus veteran Akitoshi Saito in his homwtown. The respected veteran has been in NOAH full-time since 2009 but has competed there since the beginning through the best and worst of times…he was in the ring when the death of NOAH founder and Japanese icon Mitsuharu Misawa happened (after taking Saito’s finisher Misawa suffered a medical emergency and was left paralyzed, he died soon after) but carried on and honored Misawa’s memory, and today he’ll participate in one final match against current NOAH icon Naomichi Marufuji. Surprisingly it’s probably not the main event-that may be a GHC Heavyweight Championship match as Kaito Kiyomiya defends the title against Takashi Sugiura. Both the GHC Junior Heavyweight and Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships will be defended too, but this event is all about mid-50-something (actually 59) Saito and his farewell to a career that began way back in 1990.

Today’s event will be held at Aichi Prefectural Gym in Nagoya and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in English. This is a live ABEMA exclusive broadcast in Japan so the UNIVERSE version will be edited/clipped, but the full version should be available on demand after the event. You will also be able to watch the first 2 matches FOR FREE on YouTube. I’m gonna try to make it through the whole event as I expect it to be blowout level with a running time of close to 4 hours.

Setup is for maybe 60-65% capacity (the venue’s full capacity, primarily for sumo, is 7500) but from the early shot the trend of what appears to be not good big event crowds outside Korakuen Hall is going to continue. I see a lot of empty sears especially on the lower level. Admittedly hoping for at least 2000 but that could be a stretch, just too much happening in west Japan with the New Japan/Stardom Crossover event in Osaka and the Grand Sumo Tournament in Fukuoka. Result: GHC Heavyweight Champino Kaito Kiyomiya beat Takashi Sugiura to retain the title. V6 for Kiyomiya. Kiyomiya had ALL REBELLION join him for the show-ending promo, but at the end Taishi Ozawa turned on Kiyomiya and laid him out with his crutch as Team 2000X hit the ring for the heel beatdown. Ozawa has officially defected and turned heel. A shocking ending.

The next event is MONDAY MAGIC Season 3 Episode 4 Monday at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin at 2 AM PT/5 AM ET.

WITHDRAWAL: Bushozan (M17). Left knee injury suffered yesterday. Status uncertain. Tamashoho got the fusen as a result. If Bushozan can’t return tomorrow or Monday he will be demoted back to Juryo.
Of note: Somehow Mitakeumi was able to compete after being stretchered out yesterday with left shoulder and hip injuries following a hard landing at the end of his match, but after the initial charge it was clear he was in no shape to compete and Takanosho won by essentially a walkover. Never doubt the fighting spirit and desire to compete but he should withdraw and take the tough demotion even though he was 5-1 coming in to today. We’ll see what happens. If Mitakeumi does pull out this time the fusen tomorrow would go to Takayasu. And Happy 40th birthday Tamawashi! The Iron Man celebrated the Over The Hill milestone with an impressive win over Midorifuji and still is showing no signs of slowing down. Elsewhere, the remaining unbeatsns all lost today. Abi all but clinched Outstanding Performance Prize if eligible with a second win over Ozeki as he flash slapped down Hoshoryu, which allowed Kotozakura to pull back into a tie for the lead and Onosato to move one off the lead. Surprise co-leader Onokatsu took his first loss to Takerufuji.
No more Juryo men up starting tomorrow due to the Bushozan withdrawal.

At the bottom, Chiyomaru’s return to Juryo apparently will be brief, as he is now one loss from demotion at 0-7. Anything worse than 6-9 probably will send him back to Makushita.

Today was the start of Promotion Day, where the division leaders go to 4-0 and clinch promotions for the next tournament. In the Makushita, 3 got there today with the remaining 8 3-0s getting their shot tomorrow. Tokyo Joshi Pro 11/16/24 NEAR LIVE Results

Tokyo Joshi Pro is running their big monthly event, The Mountain Top ’24, right now in Osaka. Below are in-progress NEAR LIVE results.

Today’s event is being held at Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka and will be available on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE at a later date. All-Japan continues the World’s Strongest Tag League today in Sendai with the third day. It’s still in the early stages and every team has only had one or two matches so far, today each of the 2 blocks have 2 matches scheduled. Block A has MUSASHI & Seiki Yoshioka vs. Makoto Oishi & Mike D. Vecchio while the main event will be the second block match of Jun & Rei Saito vs. Rising Hayato & Yuma Anzai. Block B matches will be Hikaru Sato & Yuko Miyamoto vs. Cyrus & Hartley Jackson and Ryuki Honda & Ren Ayabe vs. Kuroshio TOKYO Japan & Seigo Tachibana. Non-tournament matches fill out the card.

Today’s event will be held at Yume Messe Miyagi in Sendai and can be watched LIVE on AJPW.TV. There will be no commentary. There will be an intermission at the halfway point of the card, so although it has only 6 matches that will stretch it out a little big. That and Kuroshio’s seemingly never-ending entrance antics. Even if every match went the distance the longest this event could go is 3 hours, with the intermission I’d anticipate the running time being roughly 2 1/4 hours.
