Match 7: Block B-Great-O-Khan beat Taichi.
Match 8: Block A-Tom Lawlor beat Jeff Cobb.
Main Event: Block C-KENTA beat Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Standings:
Block A:
1-Okada, 4-1, 8 pts
2-Archer, 3-2, 6 pts
3-Jonah, 3-2, 6 pts (OUT)
4-Lawlor, 3-3,, 6 pts (OUT)
5-Cobb, 3-3, 6 pts (OUT)
6-Fale, 2-3, 4 pts (OUT)
7-Yano, 1-5, 2 pts (OUT)

Block B:
1-White, 5-0, 10 pts
2-Tonga, 4-1, 8 pts
3-SANADA, 3-2, 6 pts (OUT)
4-Khan, 2-4, 4 pts (OUT)
5-Taichi, 2-4, 4 pts (OUT)
6-Owens, 2-4, 4 pts (OUT)
7-Ishii, 1-4, 2 pts (OUT)

Block C:
1-Sabre, 4-1, 8 pts
2-Naito, 3-2, 6 pts
3-Goto, 3-2, 6 pts
4-KENTA, 3-3, 6 pts (OUT)
5-Tanahashi, 3-3, 6 pts (OUT)
6-EVIL, 2-3, 4 pts (OUT)
7-Henare, 1-5, 2 pts (OUT)

Block D:
1-Ospreay, 3-2, 6 pts
2-Takagi, 3-2, 6 pts
3-YOSHI-HASHI, 3-3, 6 pts
4-Finlay, 3-3, 6 pts
5-Takahashi, 3-3, 6 pts
6-Robinson, 2-3, 4 pts
7-Phantasmo, 2-3, 4 pts
The winner of each block advances to the Semifinals. Block A comes down to Okada-Archer. The winner advances. Jonah is out because while he beat Okada, he lost to Archer and head-to-head result is the main tiebreaker. Block B comes down to White-Tonga, winner advances. Block C likely comes down to Sabre-Naito. Sabre advances with a win but Naito has a chance with a win. But if both Naito and Goto win (Goto has EVIL), it gets complicated because of tiebreakers. A 3-way likely would be necessary because everyone went 1-1 against the other two. Then there’s Block D…the simplest scenario is if Takagi beats Phantasmo, that settles it. Ospreay must beat Robinson (oh snap) and Phantasmo must beat Takagi for Ospreay to advance. If both Takagi & Ospreay finish tied, Takagi has the tiebreaker. If both lose…well…has there ever, in the history of wrestling, been a SEVEN-WAY MATCH? That might be necessary!

Day 18 is Tuesday at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, where the final 3 days will be held consecutively. Tuesday will have all the remaining preliminary tournament matches. The Semifinals will be Wednesday. Live streaming on New Japan Word will begin at 2 AM PT/5 AM ET. On Thursday (final day), JAM Project, who composed and performed this year’s and last year’s G1 theme song, will perform live during the event.

In other news, Robbie Eagles challenged CMLL Middleweight Champion Dragon Rojo Jr. at Friday’s CMLL event in Mexico City but was unsuccessful as Rojo won to retain the title. Eagles will remain in Mexico to participate in an upcoming trios tournament in CMLL with Rocky Romero & Tiger Mask, who is headed to Mexico after successfully defending the All-Japan World Jr. Heavyweight Championship earlier this week.

Tokyo Joshi Pro Tokyo Princess Cup Finals Results (8/14/22)

Tokyo Joshi Pro wraps up the 9th Tokyo Princess Cup Tournament today with the Finals, and among other things a likely chance at Princess Of Princess Champion Shoko Nakajima for the title is on the line. The favorite is Yuka Sakazaki, who will be hoping to get another shot at Nakajima to try and join Miyu Yamashita as 3-time champions, but her opponent is the petite powerhouse Miu Watanabe, who upset Yamashita yesterday to earn her spot in the finals and move one upset away from her first title opportunity. Who will be the strongest-The Magical Girl or Up Up Girl?

Today’s event will be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo and can be watched LIVE on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. You can also watch the first 30 minutes FOR FREE on YouTube. Because there is a special fan event planned immediately after the show, I expect today’s event to be on the short side at right about 2 hours. So if you’re staying up late to watch New Japan or Pro Wrestling NOAH, you won’t miss anything.

Today’s lineup:
Nao Kakuta vs. Moka Miyamoto
Yuki Kamifuku & Mahiro Kiryu vs. Hyper Misao & Kaya Toribami
Miyu Yamashita, Suzume & Neko Haruna vs. Mizuki, Raku & Pom Harajuku
Saki Akai & Yuki Arai vs. Hikari Noa & Arisu Endo
Shoko Nakajima & Rika Tatsumi vs. Yuki Aino & Max The Impaler
Tokyo Princess Cup Finals: Yuka Sakazaki vs. Miu Watanabe
Once again Maki Itoh will be absent due to competing in the US for Game Changer Wrestling this weekend.

Refresh this page occasionally for the latest results.

Updates below will begin at 10:30 PM ET/7:30 PM PT. The live stream will begin at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT. The first match should begin around 10:45 PM ET/7:45 PM PT.

We are LIVE from Korakuen hall in Tokyo, Japan. Your hosts are Haruo Murata, Kagehiro Osano & Sayoko Mita.

Ring announcer/MC Sayuri Namba is beginning her pre-event introduction and announcements. The matches should begin in about 15 minutes.

The paid attendance will be announced after the event. Looks like the same setup as yesterday, smaller capacity than normal so anticipating around 450 again.

There’s a new Up Up Girl! Shino is introduced as a new member after their performance. No opening recap video, which surprised me given it’s a Korakuen event. But then again, they’re in a time limit of sort s because the post-event special event is scheduled for in just over 2 hours.

Result: Nao Kakuta beat Moka Miyamoto

Match 2: Yuki Kamifuku & Mahiro Kiryu vs. Hyper Misao & Kaya Toribami. 20 minute time limit

Main Event: Tokyo Princess Cup Finals: Yuka Sakazaki vs. Miu Watanabe. No time limit
Result: Yuka Sakazaki beat Miu Watanabe to win the tournament. It’s the first time Sakazaki has won the Cup. As a result, Sakazaki likely will face Princess Of Princess Champion Shoko Nakajima for the title at an upcoming event, likely WRESTLE PRINCESS 3 in October. Excellent match.

The next event is “TJPW PERFECTION”, a doubleheader beginning on 8/21 at Ryogoku KFC Hall in Tokyo. Live streaming on WRESTLE UNIVERSE will begin on 8/20 at 11:20 PM ET/8:30 PM PT.
