Pro Wrestling NOAH WRESTLE UNIVERSE Presents MAJESTIC 2022 Results (4/30/22)

Pro Wrestling NOAH ran the main portion of MAJESTIC 2022 today, a full blowout event with 3 title matches and a bit of card shuffling at the top. Kazuyuki Fujita missed the event and had to vacate the GHC Heavyweight Championship due to coronaviris and Kaito Kiyomiya got his wish to face Go Shiozaki for the title, leaving Naomichi Marufuji with a mystery partner in their match.

Today’s event was held at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo and can be watched on demand on WRESTLE UNIVERSE in Japanese. Keiji Muto was a special guest on commentary.

The announced paid attendance was 2077. Much better than yesterday but still on the low side.

Match 1: Slex & Kai Fujimura beat Alejandro & Yasutaka Yano. Slex pinned Yano after Close Of Business.

Match 2: Manabu Soya, Tadasuke & Hajime Ohara beat King Tany, Mohammed Yone & Akitoshi Saito. Soya pinned Yone after Ballistic.

Match 4: Kazushi Sakuraba & Kendo Ka Shin beat Masaaki Mochizuki & Don Fujii (Dragon Gate Pro Wrestling). Ka Shin pinned Mochizuki.

Match 9: Naomichi Marufuji & TBA, who turned out to be Satoshi Kojima (New Japan Pro Wrestling), beat Yoshiki Inamura & Kinya Okada. Kojima pinned Okada after a lariat.

Match 10: GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Takashi Sugiura & Hideki Suzuki beat Kenoh & Katsuhiko Nakajima to retain the titles. Suzuki pinned Nakajima with a double arm suplex. V1 for the champs. Next up: Dupree & Wagner Jr. That match will happen on Wednesday at Korakuen Hall.

Main Event: Go Shiozaki beat Kaito Kiyomiya to win the vacant GHC Heavyweight Championship. Shiozaki becomes the 38th GHC Heavyweight Champion. And once again the subject of certain Let’s Go! puns. Next up: Kojima. That match will be the potential main event of CyberFight Festical 2022 on 6/12. It should be noted that New Japan is running their annual Best Of The Super Junior Tournament over the next 2
months after tomorrow’s blowout event, so most if not all the heavyweights like Kojima are possibly able to work other events like this.

More fallout and upcoming card updates will be posted in a separate post.

The next event is the Dream On 2022 Tour opener Wednesday at Korakuen Hall. This is an ABEMA-only live stream so WRESTLE UNIVERSE video will be ON DEMAND ONLY. This will be followed by a second event on Thursday that is a WRESTLE UNIVERSE live broadcast, with live streaming beginning at 2:30 AM PT/5:30 AM ET. Also note that although NOAH’s website lists a 5/7 event in Fukushima for the end of next week, it has been CANCELLED due to damage to the venue (Big Palette Fukushima) following a major earthquake earlier this year.

BREAKING: New Japan 5/1 Card Changes

BREAKING: WRESTLING DONTAKU ’22 has been forced to see last-minute lineup changes as New Japan has announced both Tatsumi Fujinami & Will Ospreay are now off Sunday’s event. Coronavirus. Ospreay’s absence is significant because he was to have faced Hiroshi Tanahashi for the vacant IWGP US Heavyweight Championship. Tomohiro Ishii is the replacement and will face Tanahashi now. The outcome could now affect Capital Collosion on 5/14 because Ishii is to face Eddie Kingston, so if Ishii wins it maybe could become a title match. Fujinami was to have been in the opening 6-man tag. A mystery opponent will step in.
