Dragon Gate 3/4/23 Results

Dragon Gate ran the first half of CHAMPION GATE 2023 today, a doubleheader that will feature all the promotion’s championships contested for over two events.

Today’s event was held at Osaka Prefectural Gym 2 in Osaka and can be watched on demand on DRAGONGATE NETWORK.

The announced paid attendance was 455. Osaka seems to still be quite strict about reduced capacity despite the Japanese government easing most if not all its pandemic restrictions. So this number likely isn’t nearly as bad as it sounds for the venue.

Match 1: Shun Skywalker, KAI & H-Y-O vs. Strong Machine J, Kzy & BIGBOSS Shimizu went to a 15 minute time limit draw.

Match 2: YAMATO beat Ichikawa by submission in 28 seconds. Which led to…
Match 2 again: YAMATO beat Ichikawa by KO.

AEW Rampage 3/3/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s LIVE AEW Rampage in Daly City, CA:
Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta beat John Silver & Alex Reynolds, Top Flight & Dark Order in a 4-way when Yuta pinned Darius Martin.

Riho beat Emi Sakura.

Powerhouse Hobbs beat Serpentico. Squash.

Keith Lee & Dustin Rhodes beat Swerve Strickland & Parker Boudreaux. Lee pinned Boudreaux after a jackhammer.

A couple rough spots (especially at the end of Riho-Sakura, Emi seemed to botch a moonsault sequence) but otherwise a fine hour of action, all average to above-average. Main event was quite good. Lee’s new look with a dark purple supervillain-like cape and hood was definitely a high spot for his return.

Added to Revolution Sunday: The Pre-Show match will be Lucha Bros & Mark Briscoe vs. Varsity Athletes. Also, Jungle Boy vs. Christian Cage, which was announced as a No Holds Barred match on Dynamite, is now being called The Final Burial. This suggests it could be a cinematic-style match like WWE did a couple times in recent years with The Undertaker.

Impact Wrestling 3/2/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s TAPED Impact Wrestling from Las Vegas, NV (this episode was taped Saturday and starts the fallout from Friday’s No Surrender PPV):

Pre-show match (Before The Impact on YouTube): Heath & Rhino beat Decay.

Usual opening is replaced with No Surrender highlights.

Ace Austin & Chris Bey promo. Motor City Machine Guns eventually interrupt. They make and seemingly accept a challenge for the Impact Tag Team Championship tonight. The match was officially announced as a promo graphic during the first match below.

Shane Haste interviewed backstage.

Rich Swann interviewed backstage. Interrupted by Shera & Singh passing out $100 bills. Challenge by Swann rebuffed.

Match 1: Mike Bailey beat Shane Haste. Excellent opener.

The Design talk backstage, interrupted by Rhino. Sami Callahan steps in and they are nose-to-nose. Potential challenge issued by Rhino.

Match 2: Kenny King beat Kevin Knight.

Highlights from New Japan’s 2/18 US event that led to Josh Alexander vs. KUSHIDA at the New Japan/Impact crossover event on 3/30, which is scheduled to be for the Impact World Championship. Alexander interviewed. He challenges KUSHIDA to a 6-man tag at the Sacrifice PPV later this month-KUSHIDA & MCMG vs. Alexander & 2 partners of his choice. Steve Maclin then interrupts. Alexander is to defend the title against Maclin at Rebellion in April in Toronto, Canada.

Highlights from the Busted Open Live segment at No Surrender. Doctor says Tommy Dreamer will be fine but he & Santino Marella are interrupted by Bully Ray. He asks is the “fat bastard” is gonna live (funny reference to “The Fat & The Furious” when he & Tommy host Busted Open without Dve LaGreca. HA!) Bully then runs into Bhupinder who threatens Bully. Bully slaps Bhupinder before walking away as Bhupinder is EN FUEGO.

Mickie James comes out. She calls out Jordynne Grace but gets Gisele Shaw (with Savannah Evans) instead. This led to James challenging Shaw but Gail Kim interrupted. Kim makes it official and for the Knockouts Championship! Only question is when. (Note that I HAVE NOT read spoilers from last weekend’s tapings so I do not know everything that will happen over the next month)

Brian Myers backstage. He’s trying to push some podcast or similar when Moose interrupts. He wants to help Myers win the Impact Digital Media Championship to get revenge on Joe Hendry.

Jordynne Grace confronts Santino bout the match Kim just made, which will be next week. Grace wants to invoke her rematch clause after that, and Santino grants it for Sacrifice on 3/24. Then Johnny Swinger interrupts. Santino allows him to have essentially an open challenge for anyone on the roster.

Match 3: PCO beat Impact X Champion Trey Miguel in a NON-TITLE match by DQ. Eddie Edwards interference, again attacking PCO with a shovel. Which this time did absolutely nothing but make PCO angry. PCO proceeded to destroy security. (There was no official announcement so this also may have been declared a no contest. I’m just going by what I saw)

Announced for Sacrifice on 3/24: It’s now official-Grace vs. James/Shaw for the Impact Knockouts Championship.

Main Event: Bullet Club (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) beat Impact World Tag Team Champions Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) to become THE NEW IMPACT WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS! Austin pinned Shelley after The Fold.

Next week: Rhino vs. Sami Callahan & Jonathan Gresham vs. KUSHIDA.

BREAKING: Top NOAH Jr. Heavyweight Retiring

At a press conference earlier today, top Pro Wrestling NOAH Jr. Heavyweight Daisuke Harada announced he will retire at the 3/9 event at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Harada is retiring due to a neck injury suffered last August on doctor’s advice, and will finish his career with a 1 minute exhibition match against Atsushi Kotoge. There likely will be a retirement ceremony afterwards. The match eill be the 3rd match on the card.

Harada debuted in Osaka Pro in 2006 and has been with NOAH since 2013, and has been one of the top Jr. Heavyweights in NOAH over the last decade and formed one of the top tag teams in Japan with Kotoge dating back to Osaka Pro.

AEW Dynamite 3/1/23 Results

Here are the quick results from tonight’s AEW Dynamite in Daly City, CA:

AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy beat Big Bill to retain the title.

Powerhouse Hobbs won the Face Of The Revolution Ladder Match. As a result, Hobbs gets an AEW TNT Championship match next week.

Chris Jericho beat Peter Avalon.

FTW Champion Hook beat Matt Hardy to retain the title. As a result, Hook gets a No DQ match with Stokely Hathaway with The Firm banned from ringside in the future.

Riho beat Toni Storm.

Danhausen & Orange Cassidy won the casino tag team battle royal as a late replacement for Best Friends. As a result, Cassidy/Danhausen are in the AEW Tag Team Title 4-way at Revolution vs. Gunn Club, The Acclaimed and Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal (Gunn Club defending the titles).

MJF/Bryan Danielson promo was main event segment but they got less than 4 minutes.

This was one of the worst episodes of Dynamite to date and a horrible finish to a rushed and very bad PPV build. Better now than next week when I will be there LIVE AND IN PERSON!

Rampage is LIVE Friday, only thing seemingly announced for the show was Dustin Rhodes & Keith Lee vs. Mogul Affiliates.
